A 4x4 with all that lower cladding is counter intuitive. There is no way this van could be considered off road. Either remove the cladding or change to 4x2. Otherwise this van is a work of art.

Absolutely beautiful , extremely well appointed for a small van , very well done . Unfortunately , the MSRP takes this van so far away from the everyday working class person for ownership . I love it , just not attainable .

This is a very nice class B. It’s small and cute. My dislikes are: It’s a tight fit to get in but that’s because of the sink. It’s tight getting through to the bed. Small counter space but all that is do able. My likes are the bathroom. The fact it has control buttons all over the van. And the retractable awning. Thank you Matt and Andrea and Olivia and Rv One of Tampa.

    Matt,
The most essential selling point (in my view) as a future class B owner, is your statement to the effect; “American Coach will be reading your comments”.
In the many hours of footage I’ve watched of Class B camper vans, I can’t help but be impressed by the increasing importance that both Nick (of Coachmen, Ron of American Coach) give to monitoring consumer feedback of their products on social media and at RV shows.
I enjoy the content of your channel.

I've been shopping for my first RV for quite some time. This American Coach Patriot FD2 is the closest to what I feel would be my perfect RV. Three things I love about this van: 1: The Freedom battery system. This system looks to provide usefulness along with serviceability. The underhood generator, propane delete, heated batteries of a good size are all things I want. 2: Generous water tanks. With water more is better and this coach has good sized tanks for a 19 foot van. 3: Quality. The RV industry has a lot of shoody workmanship. What I've seen of the American Coach Patriot/Midwest Passage RV's instills a feeling that they are not going to start falling apart as soon as I drive them off the lot. Three things that I dislike about this van: 1: The fiberglass running boards. They look good but I have a feeling that I would curb them or break them if I went off road. I would prefer metal with a retractable step like some of the competition uses. 2: No shoulder belts on the rear seats? Most of the competition has them. One of the reasons I like the lounge configuration is that is seats more than just two people. 3: THE PRICE! Perhaps I'll wait for this RV to be available used when the market cools down.

Awesome RV!! They did a great fitting all the NECESSITIES into small foot print, that bathroom is AMAZING for a 20' vehicle. Let's face it, most people want to get from point to point safely & comfortably and this does that to the highest levels. Thanks for exposing us to the brand and model.
Some many likes, but the all electric feature is the ONLY way to go with these small RV's, being able to run all quietly no matter where you are is a treasure! Also Guys, this is by far one of the best video's you have ever done...LOVED the quick test drive & u-turn and Andrea loving the bathroom!

I LOVE this coach! I had the larger (longest) Cl. B Patriot a few years ago, but because it was 4 ft longer I didn't use it for a daily driver like I thought I might. I bought the same length Sprinter van as this unit, and love driving it all over. Sure, Patriots aren't inexpensive, but they are well worth the money from my perspective. Can't wait to get another! (and the Freedom Pkg - great idea, not having to have a genset and charging the lithium batt's via the solar panels and/or the Sprinter engine alternator)

BUT as pointed out by Cure Meister, it sits way too low. Off roading is NOT easy! My wife, and I love staying off of the grid, so, I am upgrading to an STO! An optional platform bed (similar to the Coachmen Galleria 24A), should be made available on more chassis. (while realizing it may not fit in this floor plan)
The electric incline bed feature, would also befit the level of premium appointments one expects within this luxury market segment.

I really like this ( just not for me need the bigger one)
    3 things I LOVE
    1. LOVE the freedom package (no propane or generator)
    2. LOVE how the bathroom size is wide(just like the bigger model previously reviewed)
    3. Love that you can safely transport larger families (more than 4)
    I dislike
    1) the screen door (on both models) it makes it uncomfortable for wider people to get in and out, maybe close it full and not halfway
    2. I dislike the refrigerator size (should be bigger, a party of two can full-time in this vehicle if you had a bigger fridge)
    3) I dislike there was not an extension in the kitchen area for a counter just an extension that could fold up would be a huge help

I agree with Cure Meister. This not an "off road" Class B. This is for someone who wants to drive on their lawn and call it an off roading experience. For that MSRP, you could easliy go contact and custom Class B van builder, have them build you a true off road rv and still have money left over.

  • @xanth987
    @xanth987 3 роки тому +1

While I could never afford anything like this, let alone believe it could handle off-roading anything more than a trail. I’m more than certain a Subaru Outback with the wilderness package can hoof it up the paths further than this flannel clad party van. I do say that I like the short inserts from other people showing up to pop in and pop out describing things like packages or how easy it is to raise or lower the ramps on a toy hauler.

  • @travellingslim
    @travellingslim 3 роки тому +5

This seems like another one of those B's that I scratch my head thinking who is buying these and what do they do with them? So expensive, and to me this is one of those "off the grid, but not offroad much further than paved highways or level-graded gravel roads and don't really do outdoor activities". Front lip ruins clearance, interior materials too nice to deal with them constantly getting dirty from outdoor activities, lack of interior storage for adventure gear compared to the competition.
If they took off the BF Goodrich tires and put on regular ones, I probably wouldn't be as critical, but if they are really marketing this as an adventuresome, off-the-grid in remote locations kinda van, there are a million better choices for that money. This is like putting A/T tires on a Bentley to go off the beaten path rather than just getting a Jeep

Based on the size of the solar system, I’d estimate its capable of producing between 1.2 to 3kWh per day under ideal conditions. Not sure what the capacity of the batteries is but assuming they are 100Ah lithiums that’s about 7.8kWh of capacity. So it would take 3 to 7 days to fully charge the system from dead to full charge with nothing but the solar. These smaller solar systems aren’t very practical if you plan on running the AC or a heater or using the induction cooktop a lot. You’d have to run the coach engine to charge with the second alternator or use shore power to makeup for what the solar can’t provide.

I thought Matt was right - that all the Class C's would have a door on the back by now, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Too bad because it looks to be extremely versatile at a price which isn't quite as breathtaking.

Would have liked if they had put a convection microwave in instead of a standard microwave.

Nobody going to say anything about how Matt pronounced “Method” wheels? Have I just been saying it wrong all these years? Lol

Lol I was thinking the same thing… maybe because of the price they use special ‘Mee-thod’ wheels instead of the basic ‘Method’ wheels 🤣🤣

225k??? I wouldn’t pay that much for a full sized RV and I’ve seen some bigger ones with an MSRP of about 65-95k.

It really makes me sad 😢 I love watching you (Matt) and Andrea. I am in the market to buy an RV. I am torn on what type. I think the class B has gone insane competing with each other. I could never spend $200K on a van 🚐. Well unless I was super rich 🤑 then maybe I could! lol 😂

Great Class B. Set up for driving comfort . You can see the quality but the $225k msrp is up there. Again the quality is there.

Very cool and practical for the driving part but $225k is too dang much. I can get an Ekko for $200k

Mercedes is making formula 1 Van's, that's what 4" off the ground? Keep it on the pavement and watch those speed bumps. Nothing like being in the great Outdoors and coming into a white interior, better be Mr. Clean.

    Great review.
This thing is just counter intuitive. 4x4 and off road tires but too much ground effects so incapable of really going off road. All electric limits you to half a day if you use the AC due to no generator so you have to be in a campground with electric to stay anywhere for any amount of time. Not really sure there’s a market for this but if they built it I’m sure someone will buy it.
