    • @robertweniger6194
      @robertweniger6194 Рік тому

      those atvs will not float because of the hiigh flotation tires, all that means is the tires will float to a small degree, the only atv that will float is the Argo, which by the way has the same tires, the reason it floats is the underbody whereas 3 and 4 wheeler's don't have the underbody

    Man I had a fight with a guy on dirt obsessions channel about the first 4x4 atvs and the first atv brands.
    The honcho was a 4x4 atv back in the early 70s and everyone always says Honda and Suzuki were the first atvs on the market. It always makes me laugh. We owned a honcho when I was a kid. It was slow it was hard to steer but it was actually more capable then our Honda 300. Ours had a 13hp Kawasaki engine but ended up having a 17hp Briggs swapped in after parts were discontinued for that engine.

    That is a Kohler k181 305cc engine. The same engine put in many smaller garden tractors. They are eight horsepower at about 3,600 RPM, which is where the governor is generally set. Depending on how the throttle linkage is set up, there should be more than one hole to put the governor spring in order to turn the governor up a bit if you want. Just don't turn it up too much. Haha. 10w40 in cold weather is okay but they really should run straight 30 weight especially in summer. I've had many many years of experience with Kohler k series engines. They will last you forever if you keep the oil changed.

    It'll probably do better on regular fuel. "Premium" isn't better. It's more knock resistance but needs higher compression to burn well. If it says 91 RON, that's more like 87 USA octane, NOT 91 octane "premium. Lowest octane without pinging is cleaner, more power, and better efficiency.

    For what it was back then....as it was very old tech.....i guess it was okay....but very primative in design as far as power and the exposed drive chains.Me i would have passed for what i would expect it to do.But all i can say is best of LUCK with it Joe.Don't break it,Great video though...!!

    That fuel tank shutoff looks like you can use a universal push in grommet type for lawn equipment.

    We had a Bigfoot Avenger 3 wheeler back in the 1980s that was similar. I would love to see one of those if you ever find one.

    Wow as a kid saw this same exact machine back in the 80s at an agricultural fair here in Maine and remember that long chain between the front and rear wheels,. This was that time when 3-wheelers dominated the landscape.

  • @todddenio3200
    @todddenio3200 Рік тому

    When production of the Honcho ceased, the company, parts, assembly fixtures, all documents and blueprints -- anything involved in building and selling them, was sold to a guy from Ely Minnesota who assembled a few from the parts, sold them and then he lost interest in building them so it was just forgotten about by him and the company was just left to stagnate and it was never thought about again. I wouldn't be surprised if there are still a bunch of parts sitting in a storage building or in piles on his property if he's still alive or if his son or widow still have that property as they never got rid of anything unless it was selling something. He and his son NEVER scrapped anything unless there was absolutely nothing left that could be used in any way.

    When you first started it it sounded exactly like a Brigs & Stratton. If ya'll go floating you'd better wear waders cause ya'll are getting wet. Remember you cannot swim with waders, don't drown.
