What is better for a street musician? two Everse 8s or one Everse 8 and one Everse 12? Everse 8 is already there, I bought it last fall. There used to be two JBL Eon One Compact. At a street game in different places, they alternated. Two to three days with one speaker, leaving the second one at home, two to three days with the other. Reduction of physical wear and tear. I sold them not so long ago. I was thinking of buying another Everse 8, but the Everse 12 appeared. And I wondered whether to buy it or 8? But since I have 8, does it make sense to take 12? What does this give, other than a slightly larger Spl of 126 dB? There is no place to compare personally. And they sound almost the same on UA-cam.
Everse 8 vs Jbl Eon One Compact sounds 2 times louder and richer. I compared it here. A short 1.5-minute story on the street. ua-cam.com/video/OMPkPStMgo4/v-deo.html I didn't expect this from the same size as JBL, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over me. Of course it’s the most important thing (the max SPL output) but he decided to dodge that bullet and not even mention it and leave it out from his talk probably ‘cause he knows DJs might not like that part and that it is super important basically the main thing we need to know coming out of a speaker being that the sound pressure level so we know how loud it goes and how much room it could cover (which it wouldn’t be a good selling point and it would ruin the hype)… I’m sure it’s not going to give that much, enough SLP for a party of even 100 - 200 - 400 people by just having 2 (a pair) and we are going to have to buy 4 of them to reach that good SLP for those kind of events which at that point might as well just bring out TWO of my Art 932s 12”s RCFs …or JBLs Or Yorkville or Das, FBT, etc and deal with power and xlr cables BUT, not miss or compromise on any sound quality or volume coverage… I also own EV ELX200-12P a pair with EV ELX200-12S (12” subwoofers) and they’re dope at a good SPL and way better than the ZLX model which I also owned in the past before the ELX200s and even though they’re better they still have that booming sound on the woofer (the tops im talking about now) not the the woofers… they’ve got this booming sound after playing for a couple of hours without distortion though but I think EV suffers from that booming sound on the woofer and enclosure after playing at a high volume for a couple of hours like after 2 or 3 it starts I think… so the ZLX specially had that too… so I don’t know but I hope these new 12 not only don’t come with that booming sound but also can cover much of the room in sound with that SPL they have? Which he avoided talking about here.
@@DJJoeBunnI’m considering getting one of these and I do a one man band. My everse 8 covers 80 percent of my gigs comfortably and a bit more at max. My evolve 50M is a pain to bring out. This might make things a bit easier.
@@DJJoeBunn makes sense. I just tried one in store and compared to my 8. I’m thinking of buying it for real world experience. I say this because I felt I couldn’t achieve a really meaningful volume difference. My only thought process was that the 12 disperses better so it doesn’t seem as loud, where the 8 blasts to get the same volume. Otherwise, I felt it was limiting a guitar pretty quickly.
@@ZackPomerleau The 12" - actually +5db (126 vs 121) so there should be a noticeable difference. You may not have perceived it that way, but it is certainly an upgrade in output. In the end, if the 8" works for you no reason to make a switch ;)
Amazing product by EV. How about comparing them against other big name speakers that are powered. Maybe QSC K series, other EV ZLX series. Give them a side by side, and see how they do live. Bar Gigs I'm thinking would be nice,w/ a sub. Like your work and videos Joe. You Rock!!!!
Hello! How much and how will the sound of Everse 12 differ from Everse 8? Like for example in this short 1.5 minute excerpt ua-cam.com/video/OMPkPStMgo4/v-deo.html JBL Eon One Compact is much inferior to Everse 8 in volume, but at the same time, the drums and percussion of JBL Eon One Compact sound more clearly in this recording, they are not lost against the background of other instruments
I'd recommend that you go and listen for yourself in person. I am sure you will find the EVERSE12 to be better than the EON One Compact in every way. Can't really trust You Tube as a reliable method for listening.
Greetings! I am solving this dilemma now. I have Everse 8. I compared the volume on the street with my Jbl Eon One Comact, the corresponding videos are on my channel. JBL Eon One Compact vs Everse 8. I was very shocked by the sound pressure of the Everse 8. As a result, I sold two of my JBL speakers (2021 and 2022) and am thinking about buying another one! Again, Everse 8 or Everse 12, which I plan to use in the city alternately at street performances. I play rock music: lead guitar with backing tracks and vocals. I used to do the same with Jbl Eon One Comact. Two or three days later, they switched between each other, reducing the physical wear of each speaker. But there is another space everywhere. Now, where there is less, I think that Everse 8 is better, where there is more, Everse 12 is better. Transportation on a 6-wheeled Italian Gimi "Tris New" trolley. On UA-cam, who is interested in what kind of cart it is, there is a video with this name. Type Gimi "Tris New" and you will see. The Everse 12 is of course bigger and heavier, but it can also be placed in this 6-wheel cart. Whether to buy it or not, I cannot decide, and there is no way to hear the difference in sound between them live. What do you say? If we compare the sound live, are there any differences between Everse 12 and Everse 8? It's unclear on UA-cam. It feels like they sound almost the same. Then what's the point of a 12-inch speaker?
I was looking into a used Everse8 for the smaller size, but this Reminds me of my $200 American audio BT speaker with the upgraded $40 lithium ion battery.. 😅
Everse 8 is awesome. I’m assuming the 12 has the same features - what sets the Everse apart is that it’s purpose built for public announcement. The FX, ducking, and feedback suppression are excellent. The power supply for mic receivers and power output for iPads is clutch.
I was recently commented on in this video of mine ua-cam.com/video/o5fpek8cwFc/v-deo.html It says there. Buy yourself an Everse 12. That's what I said. Everything in detail- thank you! I know about Evers 12, it appeared in January 2024. But, unfortunately, I am not satisfied with this. Almost twice as tall and heavier. I have a chariot of muses. In this minute-long video from the Kremlin Embankment in Kazan ua-cam.com/video/9ldatblxp8o/v-deo.html the car is visible. And it's a little noticeable in the video from the stadium at the beginning of the test. All over the city, in the subway, on the roads, on sidewalks, on stairs, and then with all the ammunition that I use in a street game, up to 17 kg comes out. and the Everse 12 itself weighs more than 14 kg. Music events are sometimes held in the city, there is a storage space, you can arrange to leave it there, and then large speakers will not be a problem. I'm on my own, and I don't have that kind of storage space. It's safer at home. From home to the city for street performances and evenings and back home with all this burden on yourself. There is also no desire to constantly spend money on taxis. If Evers 10 comes out, it would be tempting to consider such a model. Evers 12 is suitable not only in size and weight. I've heard comparisons on UA-cam. Good sound. But the Evers 8 is also not bad in its small-sized category. For a lonely street musician using public transport, this is what you need. Initially, everything for transportation was compactly assembled by me under the Jbl Eon One Compact. I didn't know about the Everse 8 at the time, fortunately the size is the same, so I bought it. Thank you for your attention 👍
@@DJJoeBunn True. But you can get 2 Thump Go's for the price of 1 Everse. So sound performance is there. But 1 Everse vs 1 Thump Go, definitely Everse wins.

I also have Everse 8. Here I compare it on UA-cam with others. As far as I understand, Everse 8 and 12 are best suited for solo performances. But the Everse 12 still also lost its mobility due to its large size and greater weight than the Everse 8. The weight feels good - 7.6 kg vs 14.1 kg 💪 you can simultaneously swing your biceps)
It is overkill - unless of course you want a speaker capable of getting much louder that plays lower in frequency or runs longer on battery - you know, what professionals want.
The point is advancement in battery powered technology. Many times DJs get to a venue or the event wants you setup outside or something with no power. With two of these and a jackery unit, you could throw a party anywhere and sound good. If it doesn’t fit your needs, that’s okay, but 5 years from now when everyone has full battery speaker setups, it will be because of Electro Voice pushing that envelope.

If I walk about 10 feet away with Bluetooth on my EV 8, it starts to mess up. Real bad. Even after updating and I’m using an iPad Pro M2.
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks awesome. Would love to see them make a white version.
You and me both!
If the demand for a white version proves to be high enough we will certainly add that at a later time ;)
Ordered mine!
Here we go!
Good job,,,, you sold me!
db? n watts?
I'll let me EV folks answer that.
Great :) next 12" battery subs!!!
We shall see
waiting for them to sponsor me one, use my 8 at every event... cue all the djs promoting this speaker.
I hear ya! Maybe they will!
I will never understand why people lift speaker stands with the speakers on them. You get the stand up to height then put the speaker on top
Or use the hydraulic ones.
31 lbs is crazy, that's so light for a 12!
Even in all the pics I took, I was one-handing it.
@@DJJoeBunn That's 31 lbs with a battery in it too.
This or the soundboks 4? Both at $1000
never heard of those.
I GOTTA have at least one!!!
Heard that.
They need to make a battery Evolve 30M next.
That would be kinda cool for one man band kinda things.
@@DJJoeBunnI’m considering getting one of these and I do a one man band. My everse 8 covers 80 percent of my gigs comfortably and a bit more at max. My evolve 50M is a pain to bring out. This might make things a bit easier.
@@ZackPomerleau I think the whole point of them making this bigger one was so you could actually do shows (vs. like really small stuff with the 8)
@@DJJoeBunn makes sense.
Now that's cool!
Yup!
I was unimpressed by the EV8 hoping the 12 sounds better
It slaps.
Sweet!
Noice !!!
LOL, you do realized people don't just send me stuff right?
I compared ZLX Gen2 and Everse12... I bought everse because it's better, for my needs (acoustic guitar and mic). More details comming out of everse
@@aleksandarmarkovic4913similar volume power?
@@ZackPomerleau i didnt run them to peak power, so i dont know the max SPL
Ordered one today at Zzounds "blemished" for $869. I can never pay full price-it's a sickness.......
They do come in white
not yet.
Comparing EV to whatever American Audio is is offensive. lol
Everse 8 is awesome. I’m assuming the 12 has the same features - what sets the Everse apart is that it’s purpose built for public announcement. The FX, ducking, and feedback suppression are excellent. The power supply for mic receivers and power output for iPads is clutch.
cough , cough, do the new Mackie Speaker next or side by side comparison :)
If Mackie sends it, I'll do it.
This is insane
They killed it with this one!
I want to hear the Mackie 12 go. The go series has been good
No way they touch EV.
@@DJJoeBunn True. But you can get 2 Thump Go's for the price of 1 Everse. So sound performance is there. But 1 Everse vs 1 Thump Go, definitely Everse wins.
Niceeeee
For that price I can get 3 mackie's
But they're not good lol.
@@DJJoeBunn there are good enough for what I need
@@DJJoeBunn What about the new one Mackie ShowBox ?
No clue what that is@@georgchekinoff239
The new portable speaker system from Mackie. It was released in January 2024. ua-cam.com/video/dY51MZp55kc/v-deo.htmlsi=u0om5aX3VhllxcZi only the dear one. 799 dollars. I do not know how it sounds.
Cool but well over price for speaker lol
Not really.
Only 400 watts peak power and 126 spl
On a battery...
Disappointed….. need a new evolve
Soooon
Do you know yhe model and name if the speaker stands please?
They are made by Gator. It's their hydraulic stand. I'm sure it's on their site.
Kinda over kill what’s the point of this?
It is overkill - unless of course you want a speaker capable of getting much louder that plays lower in frequency or runs longer on battery - you know, what professionals want.
The point is advancement in battery powered technology.
Many times DJs get to a venue or the event wants you setup outside or something with no power. With two of these and a jackery unit, you could throw a party anywhere and sound good.
If it doesn’t fit your needs, that’s okay, but 5 years from now when everyone has full battery speaker setups, it will be because of Electro Voice pushing that envelope.
LOL, I love when folks write my answers for me! Nailed it!
LOVE THIS!
It’s for people who want to rock a party with out have to run power
The tray is awful. I just use some Velcro on top of the speaker.
You sure you are using it right? The tray rules.
@@DJJoeBunn I just don’t have the patience I guess to screw those little screws in and out. Wish you could just keep it on and keep it stored like that
@@rjpimprov On the 8? You can. Mine stays on there all the time. Hmmm, wondering if you have the divider for the bag laying on the bottom of the bag?
