But Maud DID make a sacrifice. At the end of the episode, she got nothing from the swap, having sacrificed the gift she was given for Pinkie's happiness. This doesn't matter to her, though, because she values her sister's well-being above any material object. Pinkie Pie's happiness is all she needs. Personally, I think that makes for a very touching conclusion.
And it's also why Maud is a good character and Mudbrier is not. Cause while Maud has her quirk of being monotone and has a lot of fun moments she is still a genuinely good mare who loves her friends and family very much and wants to try to interact and help them. With Mudbrier it's not that he is a know-it-all that's the problem, it's that he doesn't seem to be making any effort to tone it down for the sake of others.
I figured Rarity probably didn't have time to make a custom pouch. She would have had to go shopping for materials, make the pattern, and do the labor. Sure, a pouch is small and pretty easy to make, but it was already late in the day, and she didn't even have her tools or a place to work. Maud's sacrifice was giving up the pouch. Although it's hard to read her reactions, it seems that she really did love Pinkie's gift, but she was willing to return it so that Pinkie could get her cannon back. It works out differently than in "The Gift of the Magi" but then they don't often follow their title references very closely anyway.
+Calliope Pony In regards to the pouch, she could've taken a square of fabric, folded it in half, and stitched (or even just stapled) up the sides. It would've taken five minutes to make and looked like it had been made in five minutes, but one would expect them to have learned and understand "it's the thought that counts" by now.
BioniclesaurKing4t2 Rarity would be ashamed to offer anything that looks shabby. She prides herself on her work. Besides, something made like that would have fallen apart after a while, and Boulder could have been lost.
+Calliope Pony Such a thing would have merely been a "placeholder", something to have ready for Maud by the end of the day, after which a "finished" version could be completed at a later time without being rushed.
+BioniclesaurKing4t2 () Placeholder? This is a gift! It is supposed to be the real deal! (This suggestion reminds me of the unfinished "finished" games on steam ...)
+BioniclesaurKing4t2 No. That's not how you give gifts. Otherwise it feels like you forgot to get them something. And again, Rarity would never, EVER, make something shabby.
I've seen that idea about Rarity sewing up a pouch for Pinkie repeatedly, but there are a number of problems with it: Namely, once the store was found to be closed they only had a few hours at most before the gift exchange would take place. That's not a lot of time to buy the materials, the tools to work with those materials, and to locate a space to do the work in, all in secret. The description of the rock pouch made it sound quite complicated to make as well. Even Rarity's sewing skills can only do so much.
as a seamstress myself, my friends understand that I don't carry my supplies with me and that sewing this pouch would take around an hour or so and that there aren't always fabric shops nearby. Hand/magic/hoof sewing would take quite some time and the quality wouldn't be as good. Plus there's drafting the pattern and testing it out with something she's clearly never made before...it's illogical to expect her to make one in such a small time frame and on the move and as my friends understand me, Pinkie probably understands her. The rest is probably them just reacting in the moment. I really don't understand why all the reviewers are meh on this episode.
I loved this episode! We actually liked that it didn't fallow the "Two people give up stuff they love for people they love", because Rarity and Applejack did that in "Trade ya!" so I think this was nice! Plus all ponies seemed in top form, between Pinkie being hilarious and heartfelt, Rarity having some great gags plus being supportive whilst accentuating her unique character, and Maud. Oh Maud. I've seen many dead pan characters in my day, I watch anime where they are a dime a dozen, but Maud is special. Her character isn't just she's monotone and doesn't smile much, she loves rocks. Rocks are a huge part of vocabulary and they integrate it so beautifully that I tip my cap to the staff writing her lines, you sirs are fantastic!
Hey Silver, just want to say that I love how you are now doing these Silver-Quilted things. I am anticipating the After-the-Facts videos as I watched practically each and every single one of them over the last few days - and repeated a few of them more times than is probably healthy - so I guess what I'm trying to say is; keep up the good work, fellow Bronie.
It's kinda' funny; Rarity making the bag never occurred to me during my viewing of the episode. Looking back, I suppose that perhaps they didn't have enough time to make one of such high quality, or that finding appropriate materials would be difficult without proper planning. (However, it would have been strongly beneficial if they had addressed it, as you described.) I do agree that the 'reset' at the end did feel off, but at least it showed how unhesitating Maud is to sacrifice for Pinkie if need be. And that Maud also has superpowers. Overall, I personally had a lot of fun with this episode (as I generally do) and am looking forward to what this season has to offer!
I remember throughout the episode I was kept saying "Hey! I've been there!" Seriously, so many places they explored in Manehatten actually exist in real life NYC. Even the Keyboard, in a giant toy store (not MacMillan Toys, but it's still there as a tourist attraction)
I'm actually happy that they did that change because I'm a little sick of that story, it's been done to death. Don't get me wrong, I would still feel something if they'd go all the way through, I started mopping as soon as I realized we were on that kind of story. The problem is that I've seen it so many times and I've seen it done the same way again and again, I rather watch one of the old versions that a new one that's exactly the same but with ponies (the Mickey Mouse adaptation is my favorite). So when Maud decided that she just wasn't going to take it, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Besides, we teach now a days that it doesn't matter what you give to your loved ones as long as you give it with love but I've never seen it in a show before, they always say it but never show it. I love that for once I get to see that it can be true. I love to see Maud proving that is not the gift what she love, is the fact that it was given by Pinkie Pie. There're sacrifices that she's not willing to accept from her sister and that's what really matters.
So, I'm seeing a lot of comments saying Maud did sacrifice something. But what Silver meant, I think, is that her gift to Pinkie, while something she knew her sister would enjoy, did not come at any sacrifice for Maud. Maud may have cut up shapes for confetti and whatever else, but she didn't sacrifice something she cherished to get/make that confetti. Yes, Maud sacrificed the gift Pinkie gave her in the end to get the party cannon back and make her sister happy, but, again, I don't think that's what he meant by his comment. In "The Gift of the Magi", it features on a couple trying to find the perfect Christmas gift for their partner with very little money. The wife gets her hair cut and sells it so she can buy a chain for her husband's pocket watch. The pocket watch is his treasure, as her long, beautiful hair was for her. We later discover that the husband sold his watch to purchase an assortment of combs for his wife's hair. The couple, left with useless gifts, realize how far they went to to show they loved each other, and how priceless love is. I'm not saying Maud and Pinkie, or one or the other, don't love one another. I'm just making the comparison. Stating Maud made a sacrifice, while true later on, did not occur with the original gift. Could Pinkie have asked Rarity to make a rock pouch? Yes, she could have, but I don't think it would have fit into this story Silver wanted to compare it to.
Thank you!! Someone else actually *read* the story! Silver did okay to not spoil specifics, but as you pointed out, the sacrifices and now-useless gifts can't be taken back, which showed how far the couple went for each other (she won't use those combs for a while, and he certainly couldn't afford to buy back his watch); they still had the gifts they got, as proof of each other's love and dedication. Here, the Pies are basically back at square one. Neither gained or lost anything by the end. Still nice (and a good family/friends message from Maud's actions), but still not a good comparison to the original story. As for Rarity making the pouch... it would only fit into the original tale if Rarity requested an exorbitant price or a huge favor in exchange, neither of which would really be in-character for Rarity.
I'm just dying for a time when they go to Manehattan, and we get a Ghostbusters reference at last, somehow. I mean, the firehouse is obvious, but what if they visited an art museum, and we see a ponified version of Vigo the Carpathian in the background? It could be in a montage of culture boosting for the Mane Six, and it could wink at one of them lagging behind and they'd freak out over it. Love ya, Quill! At least take heart that if you DO go blind from Derpibooru...you can always set up shop in Manehatten as Maredevil No, wait... -thinks- HMMMMM....need to work on Hippogriff related superhero ideas for you, Great One
+thurston james While I would love more, they are well worth waiting for, and this can't take that long. Plus I LOVE his initial reactions as well. So I say keep them coming.
On the questions, Rarity doesn't know Maud like Pinkie, so wouldn't be sure to get the exact perfect Rock Pouch for her. As to making one, how would she do that without being obvious? She brought no sewing supplies, so would need to find shop for those, and the fabric, and the tools, and find space to work, and all without rousing suspicion AND, they didn't exactly have a lot of time to work this out. "Try to find a Plan B gift" was a good idea, and then there was no need for more cuase she had the pouch. Yeah it's a stretch, but it does make some sense at least. But yeah, could have been done a bit better. Still, hilarious, fun and all around great episode with some amazing character interaction. (Though yeah do agree the 'rule of three' set up bit was just alright' more or less)
Yes, because Rarity can't split to go handle this... A simple little pouch like that doesn't even require a machine to make quickly. Rarity could go to any fabric store, have it made, and return to the Pies within an hour. There are many ways how this is not a real conflict.
Orthus100 Pinkie didn't want some simple little pouch. She wanted something custom deigned and specially made. She wanted the perfect gift. Yes Rarity could likely make one, but not that fast, and without being obvious about it.
About Rarity making the gift, it wouldn't have that meaning of Pinkie Pie trying to put her own efforts in getting the gift. Even if she asked Rarity to make it and pay for the materials, Rarity would have gotten the materials herself and still make it without Pinkie Pie owing her money in the future or if Rarity did have her sewing kit with her then Rarity would have made the gift and Pinkie Pie would feel that Rarity put in effort and not her. Also, how do we know Rarity really knows how to make a rock pouch. Before anyone says that Rarity is creative and would easily know how, let's think about it for a second, does she really know how they are made? For we know rock pouches are made a specific way rather than clothes/dresses; there may be some difference between making dresses and rock pouches in their world.
+ShadowWriter45 Outside of gemstones, she seems to know near nothing about rocks. It would not be surprising that a rock pouch must be made of a material that has both flexibility to be carried comfortably, and resistance to abrasion from hard things like diamond. Conversely, the internal material must not damage very soft stuff like emeralds through friction (as they are easy to scratch). Those things she is probably aware of, but... What about chemical resistence from inherently reactive rocks? Adding water absoption salts to reduce the internal humidity? Or that may dry a composite and making it break? etc
+Arexion5293 Since when does the Internet have filters? I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Sure, Google Search has filters, but I doubt we can call those "Internet filters".
***** These are local filters, though. I'm just saying that the Internet itself is technically unfiltered. Of course, schools, universities, business places and even entire countries can decide to filter out certain content on the Internet.
just wanted to say, love your videos and you were my inspiration for being a half breed griffon, love you bruh keep up the good work and Maud Pie is best waifu!!!
i liked Maud's ice skating. and i liked how those ponies were playing the MLP theme on the giant keyboard. also, _"if you have even a hint of romanticism within you, give it a read."_ i will keep this in mind -when- if i ever get to the library again!
Alpha121198 Then Yoshi and his Wooly World after that, now this... Well, at least Silver hasn't taken possession of 344, been possessed by 963, tamed 682 as his pet, or the doomsday scenario that would be all three simultaneously... After all, if he has to ask, it's above his clearance level. If it's above his clearance level, run.
I'm still glad they finally made a co-op episode with Pinkie and Rarity together, I've always thought the two would play out well with their quirky characteristics.
This episode will have so many memes, emotes, and suggestive references made about it. Speaking of which, somepony should have warned Silver Quill about the booru and its "custom" filter system.
I remember reading the story for the first time back in freshman year of high school and I'm glad this turned out well. Rarity was the cutest in this episode :3.
+MLP-Silver-Quill Love your plushie! And you should be a comedian, because everyone one of your videos always has a part that makes me laugh and smile, and keep up the good work!
Another thing that's worth adressing about this episode is it's humor, which was pretty neat! I don't really know why, but there's just *something* about this episode's jokes that just cracked me up.
Pinkie loves Maude, that much is certain. But her goal was for her gift to better than the one she would receive. This made me realize how competitive Pinkie can be. The best example can be found in "Pinkie Pride"; but it can also be spotted in "Just for Sidekicks", where she gets carried away on how much she loves Gummy, and in the flashback in "Filli Vanilli". You know she was going to win the title from Big Mac.
I think-- Not entirely sure, but I think the moment at 3:03 might be a reference to the painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat. Just because it reminded me of Sunday in the Park with George, which was inspired by the painting.
I remember when I watched this my friends little brother was sitting on the coach with us and said shouldn't rarity hire her staff, make the clothing line and then look for a store location. So I spent over an hour explaing how business expantion and fashion work.
OH GOT THANK YOU! The fact that some one else asked the reasoning as to why she didn't have Rarity sew her something... Because I'm sure... she could even do that by hand..... I mean hoof... or um magic? Well you get what I mean!
I for one do see why some are asking for our favorite gryphon to be animated, quilted simply lack's the expressive range of quill proper. but as other's have pointed out, the righting and animating needed for silver's full force to be shown take time. time he may not have due to real world thing's and time that is already minimal at best if he plan's to review each episode of season 6 within the week of it's release. that said these two most recent quilted video's have shown(me at least) that silver's true magic shine's through even if the avatar use'd is a plushie being moved by hand. I for one am happy to watch this cuddly little guy while the trolliest of gryphon's is given the time to be at his best, I just hope we don't have to wait TOO awful long.
+Silver comet (Scarlet Spider) She gave up the "perfect" gift she'd just been given to restore what Pinkie had to give up to acquire said perfect gift in the first place. She didn't need the extra possession because her sister's happiness meant more to her.
I don't know why but for some reason I felt that couple in the Swan boat reminded me of that scene in Muppets Take Manhattan when Kermit and Miss Piggy were in that carriage lol.
So Maude has at least three special powers: 1: The "Maude Sense" for finding things. 2: The "Indomitable Stare of Truth Telling," which can break any pony in seconds. 3: The "You Can't Escape" teleportation to prevent the subject of her attention from getting away, and without the lights and sound effects seen elsewhere.
+Thane36425 I wouldn't be surprised if all the pie sisters can warp around. We expect it from Pinkie cause she the fourth wall breaker, but it would be neat for all the sisters to have their own wall breaking tricks. Maud sense wasn't explained just given a vague idea as to what it entails, but with Pinkie sense its kinda future sense with Pinkie having to spend who knows how long figuring out what all her twitches, ear flaps, tail shakes, and what have you mean.
CodeRed99911 Pinkie Pie does seem to have a couple of powers in addition to the Pinkie Sense: Super Speed, Rapid Healing, Warping, etc. Maybe that is why she eats so much, and never puts on weight, since she needs all that energy to power the abilities she is almost constantly using.
I always thought that Maud Pie actually seemed similar to the character created by legendary cartoonist Tex Avery known as *Droopy Dog*, especially from back in his early years, and it seems that each time they put her in a new episode, she gets more & more like Droopy everytime.
Mwahaha... what has been seen can't be unseen! This is a good episode though myself I'm not a big Maud fan. Did pick up on the fact that Rarity could have easily made the pouch for Pinkie if asked. Personally, I think that mare carries, at least, a small sewing kit in case inspiration strikes.
Haku infinite I don't know, as much as I love Rarity, if there is one thing she doesn't lack it's confidence. Maybe lack of to put the effort into it she would want but she has pulled off really complex and detailed work in short time before. Plus a rock pouch really isn't that different from a coin purse which I'm sure she has done before.
Haku infinite Even still I think Rarity could of pulled it off, regardless it could of been addressed. Rarity has whipped up patterns on the fly before. Seems kinda of an oversight to have Ponyville's premier seamstress with you and not even consider asking her for help.
What you said regarding asking Rarity to get a gift was basically my thought as well, except I was thinking more of "just tell maud to enjoy the city while you get her gift, she knows you are getting her something anyway"
Honestly, I saw this episode, and all I could think of was that Mickey and Minnie's story from Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas did it better with about the same run-time. After all, neither of them in the end got their valued possessions back. Still, a really good episode overall!
I thought the same thing and there was a point while watching the episode I was brainstorming ideas for a solid 5 minutes as to what would make that particular cannon special. The best ideas all run into problems of their own though. -That was the Original Party Cannon, that would tie it emotionally to the Party Pony. But that would make one question why she would take it with her out of town, where she is much more likely to lose it. -All of the other cannons are considered non-diegetic, placing each of the scenes in Twilight's castle in season 5 episode 3 where confetti is shot out from off screen as never happening. -Pinkie cannot actually function without the presence of one of her party cannons. And the most likely, -The writer for this episode was unaware or had forgotten the existence of her other party cannons.
Something to note here is that just because the audience can see the answer doesn't mean the characters are going to immediately. The audience has the privilege of seeing the whole of the situation in its entirety, as well as have the ability to see it in the afterthought. However, as characters entering into a situation, especially one with the pressures of time like Pinkie's, it makes more sense for them to not see what the audience sees here. The true meaning of irony plays well here as the audience knows that the solution is easy but the characters aren't gonna see it for the pressures around them, and it pushes the plot in a good direction.
In a way though, Maud *did* make a sacrifice. Even though she loved the rock pouch (not to mention needed it, as she needed something to carry Boulder in), she gave it up just so Pinkie could have her cannon back. Her sister's happiness was more important to her than her own, same with Pinkie Pie. True, there's the whole "no take back" deal, but I don't think this doesn't detract from Pinkie and Maud's storyline, since, after all, it puts a slightly new twist on the classic tale. But as for your questions, there actually are some reasonable explanations for them: 1) Why doesn't Pinkie ask Rarity to go buy the pouch? Simple: Pinkie wants to look at the pouches herself in-person because she wants this to be the absolute *perfect* gift for Maud, and Rarity might pick out something less than that, since she doesn't know Maud as well. True, there was a brochure Pinkie had of the store, but a lot of times, what looks good in a picture isn't necessarily good in-person. And besides, what if what Pinkie had in mind was out of stock by the time Rarity got there? In short, its simpler for Pinkie to get the peruse the store herself. 2) Why doesn't Pinkie ask Rarity to *make* her a pouch? Rarity simply didn't bring along her sewing kit, as she was on this trip simply for business. True, she did think to bring along different outfits, but that was more to always have something clean to change into if anything got ruined (recall "Rarity Investigates"?). She wasn't going to spend any time mending her clothes on trip, so didn't bring it along. Yes, yes, I know you yourself pointed out that this little detail could have been mentioned, but I personally don't think it necessarily needed to be. Not everything has to be explanatory; sometimes I think its good for fans to take the time to speculate about things like that on their own instead of having everything handed to them. Just saying. :)

The swans are a reference to the swan boats in Boston. They are a popular attraction, though they tend to seat far more than is sown in the clips provided. However, i can see why they did that, as clearly, a boat for 2 is far more romantic than one for 12
This was a nice episode and shows how much closer she is to her sisters Didn't liked that the guy actually believed that Maud is dangerous she had no expression I did think that Rarity should have done is make a pouch

At least take heart that if you DO go blind from Derpibooru...you can always set up shop in Manehatten as Maredevil
No, wait... -thinks- HMMMMM....need to work on Hippogriff related superhero ideas for you, Great One
My favorite part of the episode is when Rarity imitated Pinkie Pie.
Didn't Maud end up not getting any gift at all since she had to give the pouch back? You could say that was her sacrifice.
Yeah I like Sliver Quilted. But can we have some more After the Facts
+thurston james NEEDS EXPLOSIONS!!!
Agreed
+thurston james While I would love more, they are well worth waiting for, and this can't take that long. Plus I LOVE his initial reactions as well. So I say keep them coming.
+thurston james After the Fact ep take a long time to make. Silver Quilted is his way of keeping relevant as he works on them.
agreed
I expect to see that puppet getting tossed around inside a washing machine now.
+Tom Spiegel And for someone to make him a new one!
+7Seraphem7 Manehatten, Coco. That's how you make a bag.
Orthus100
If they could find her that quickly, without arousing Maud's suspicion. And assuming she's not the Bag shop owner's niece.
Yes, because Rarity can't split to go handle this... A simple little pouch like that doesn't even require a machine to make quickly. Rarity could go to any fabric store, have it made, and return to the Pies within an hour. There are many ways how this is not a real conflict.
Orthus100
Pinkie didn't want some simple little pouch. She wanted something custom deigned and specially made. She wanted the perfect gift. Yes Rarity could likely make one, but not that fast, and without being obvious about it.
You seriously overestimate what it takes to make things.
Last 10 seconds had be rolling!XD
+deathsia To Derpibooru!
+ShadowWriter45 id imagine if you can make a dress especially ones with complex details making a pouch wouldn't be too hard
+ShadowWriter45 Maybe, but she could at least offer to make something decent so Pinkie would have some sort of gift.
+ShadowWriter45 Yes, because buying it from a store instead of your friend making it makes a world of difference...
+ShadowWriter45
Outside of gemstones, she seems to know near nothing about rocks.
Or that may dry a composite and making it break?
etc
...It's a motherf@#$ing bag, seriously.
Derpibooru is like the internet: The filters exist for a reason.
+Arexion5293 Since when does the Internet have filters? I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Sure, Google Search has filters, but I doubt we can call those "Internet filters".
Ecthudan
I was kinda talking about sites in a broad manner. It was meant to be a joke like statement.
you've never heard of internet filters? my high school had internet filters.
Personally, I think Limestone's sense is being able to tell is when someone is touching Holder's Boulder
Pfft, yes!
Silver Quilted - why animated when you can play with a toy!
*animate
The Blue Shell Ah, you found my perfectly well hidden trap which I completely intended to do, yes *Shifty eyes*
+Josh Foster ;D
I liked the interactions between Rarity, Pinkie and Maud and the two new writers Michael and Wil Fox left a great impression on me ^^
if only your ending joke ended with "SHE WAS JUST BORN"
+duke86fan Or better yet, "What is with the abundance of gay Sunburst?"
+giguyjoe2nd That's just how bronies have always been. New male horse? he is the gays!!!
(I originally read Sunset for some reason)
+Krebons1200 what is this "sunset" you're referring to...? I'd legitimately like to know...
Tony Ten Sunset Shimmer. From the Equestria Girls films, or so I've been told.
+Krebons1200 oh, okay. Thank you for the clarification
When Pinkie had to give up her party cannon, my first thought was "Can't you just make another one? I always thought you made that yourself."
i liked Maud's ice skating. and i liked how those ponies were playing the MLP theme on the giant keyboard.
also, _"if you have even a hint of romanticism within you, give it a read."_ i will keep this in mind -when- if i ever get to the library again!
Sweet Arceus, the Keter is loose and he's amassing a hoard of plush clones! **runs screaming through several walls**
How didn't we see it before? They had Kirby in Epic Yarn and we ignored it all these years!
Always love a Maud episode
Maud DID make a sacrifice, she gave up her pouch. Admittedly its not a big sacrifice. but it is a sacrifice none the less.
I'm still glad they finally made a co-op episode with Pinkie and Rarity together, I've always thought the two would play out well with their quirky characteristics.
Limestone can sense whenever somebody touches Holders Boulder
This episode will have so many memes, emotes, and suggestive references made about it.
Speaking of which, somepony should have warned Silver Quill about the booru and its "custom" filter system.
I didn't realize the pop culture references until it was too late, thanks for being observant for me Silver.
I think the pony who had the crayon thrown in his stew had an existential crisis over it which is why he stared at it so much and for so long.
I remember reading the story for the first time back in freshman year of high school and I'm glad this turned out well. Rarity was the cutest in this episode :3.
I felt so bad for that guy. He just looked so sad about that crayon.
waiter there's a cryon in my soup
I actually like silver quilted we can now get updates faster.
Nothing amazing, but a step up from The Crystalling.
True.
Yeah season six has been a bit of a disappointment so far, especially compared to season five
Panda Girl Season 5 was had its problems too.
+Doughboy123x it did, however it's opening episodes were considerably better than season six, let's hope thy step up their game
Panda Girl True. The Cutie Map really wowed me.
Castle Sweet Castle annoyed me more though.
>Derpiborruer watching Silver Quilted
>Silver mentions Derpibooru
"woo, he mentioned us!"
>Complaints about Derpibooru
"Yeeeaaa.... that's fair...."
Boy, I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets that "Am I missing a reference?" feeling. (Defective Sense of my own, methinks)
I will say, this is the episode that put Maud as my second favorite supporting character after Discord.
+Picky Peeves And I'll say this, I enjoyed this more than Maud's first episode.
I love silver quilted plz keep it going!😁
Silver Quill? I thought you were Silver Quilted? ;D
The sense runs in the family. I have two words: Cheesy Sense. I will leave you with that thought.
I remember when I watched this my friends little brother was sitting on the coach with us and said shouldn't rarity hire her staff, make the clothing line and then look for a store location. So I spent over an hour explaing how business expantion and fashion work.
I love that story!!! but it's been a long time! I hadn't made the connection
I need to wash my Eyes too because the red pony in the swan boat reminded me of Firebrand
Rarity and Pinkie Pie are one of my favorite matchups in MLP!
I for one am happy to watch this cuddly little guy while the trolliest of gryphon's is given the time to be at his best, I just hope we don't have to wait TOO awful long.
but did you see what Maud sacrificed for Pinkie?
+jmhguy what?
+Silver comet (Scarlet Spider)
She gave up the "perfect" gift she'd just been given to restore what Pinkie had to give up to acquire said perfect gift in the first place. She didn't need the extra possession because her sister's happiness meant more to her.
BioniclesaurKing4t2 oh yeah
+BioniclesaurKing4t2 that's what I thought too
You broke the one rule of Derpibooru Silver.......Never go on Derpibooru
Crayon in soup pony is best pony
I don't know why but for some reason I felt that couple in the Swan boat reminded me of that scene in Muppets Take Manhattan when Kermit and Miss Piggy were in that carriage lol.
So Maude has at least three special powers:
1: The "Maude Sense" for finding things.
CodeRed99911
Pinkie Pie does seem to have a couple of powers in addition to the Pinkie Sense: Super Speed, Rapid Healing, Warping, etc. Maybe that is why she eats so much, and never puts on weight, since she needs all that energy to power the abilities she is almost constantly using.
0:04 "Maud-ify"
eh, I see what you did there :3
Yay, I was wondering when someone would point out the Big reference with the keyboard scene!
I vote we name the police pony 'Juddy Clops'
Considering how the fandom has used "clopping," no thank you.
Haku infinite
I don't know, as much as I love Rarity, if there is one thing she doesn't lack it's confidence. Maybe lack of to put the effort into it she would want but she has pulled off really complex and detailed work in short time before. Plus a rock pouch really isn't that different from a coin purse which I'm sure she has done before.
+Haku infinite It's a pouch. I'm not great as sewing and that bag would take me 30m.
Haku infinite
Even still I think Rarity could of pulled it off, regardless it could of been addressed. Rarity has whipped up patterns on the fly before. Seems kinda of an oversight to have Ponyville's premier seamstress with you and not even consider asking her for help.
Exactly.
Haku infinite
Oh yea, I still like the episode, it just seemed strange. I love Rarity, so episodes with her as a main focus I typically enjoy.
it was nice to see central park again and also that boulder that maud is admiring is a real boulder in the park
You're just jealous that you are not fixable enough to bend that way
I read the gift of the magi when I was young. It was perfect that the story was the inspiration
I love stuffyquil! He is so cute, I want to hug him!!!!
BIG KEYBOARD, GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What you said regarding asking Rarity to get a gift was basically my thought as well, except I was thinking more of "just tell maud to enjoy the city while you get her gift, she knows you are getting her something anyway"
Great point on the pie sense
"Label your images!" ~Silver Quill quoting every derpibooru user ever, 2016
+MetaGrave It can be pretty annoying when people don't tag things correctly or even feel the need to invent new tags for things that already exist.
Ecthudan I know, right? I hate seeing the nasty stuff, and people don't tag it soon enough, for as long as I'm there. Eeech. x.x;;
the woman in the story never gave up anything she sacrafised and donated her hair
but it also reminded me of the story of a monkey and it's tail
Honestly, I saw this episode, and all I could think of was that Mickey and Minnie's story from Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas did it better with about the same run-time. After all, neither of them in the end got their valued possessions back. Still, a really good episode overall!
pinky has multiple party cannons =-=
you keep that in mind and it ruins how "heart full" it is
I thought the same thing and there was a point while watching the episode I was brainstorming ideas for a solid 5 minutes as to what would make that particular cannon special.
And the most likely,
-The writer for this episode was unaware or had forgotten the existence of her other party cannons.
Pinkie's "party canon".
Love that pun at the beginning tho.
While it's not as good as the premiere, it is the best Manehatten episode so far
pinkie gave up one of her party cannons.
Rarity was in Manehatten to find a location for her new shop, so it wouldn't make sense for her to have her sowing material on han- hoof.
maudify? best word ever
Annnnd looks you just got Mauded Silver Quill!
EVEN RARITYS VILLAN IS AT DA BACK ROUND
You have not seen anything yet, Silver-Quill; I will still have my Revenge!!
I missed you old reviews,
In a way though, Maud *did* make a sacrifice.
But as for your questions, there actually are some reasonable explanations for them:
1) Why doesn't Pinkie ask Rarity to go buy the pouch?
Just to be Captain Obvious today, there's R34 of the Manehatten Statue of Liberty on Derpibooru. I ended up in a situation very similar to Silver.
+FireSiku
In order to see those, you need to change the filters.
To do that, you must log in first.
The registration implies you are the exclusive responsable over your mental health.
Sometimes, if you're on the front page, you can see things that are generally filtered, if the uploader decided to not tag things accordingly.
FireSiku
And they get punished for that.
Not being able to upload stuff for a while really hurts once you started to enjoy it.
If they do not learn the lesson (based on their previous activity), they may lose tag editing, comment posting or even their account and/or permanent access to the website [there have being cases of innocent people getting randomly blocked when their ISP rotates their assigned IP into the same range].
The efforts the admins had put to allow google bots to index the safe stuff has being consistent in the last years, with effective results on safesearchs.
So is this a new way you will talk about episodes?
I'm not complaining, just curious.
+Mohag Rob This is just an initial impressions format. I plan to follow up with proper After the Facts as I work my way through the seasons.
MLP-Silver-Quill
Ah, I see.. keep it up, allways love to see your videos. :)
+MLP-Silver-Quill Thank you for noticing the 'Big' reference.
+MLP-Silver-Quill Good to know. I love how much effort you put into your full reviews with the comedy etc, they are a show of themselves.
+MLP-Silver-Quill I like the animated version better... In fact I kinda miss it...
The swans are a reference to the swan boats in Boston. They are a popular attraction, though they tend to seat far more than is sown in the clips provided. However, i can see why they did that, as clearly, a boat for 2 is far more romantic than one for 12
I know the Magi story from the Mickey mouse version, but you're right about Maud not making sacrifices
Thats derpibooru for you xD
Tis best to stay clear of that one, for your eyes sake. >w
Except Rarity didn't have any materials to make said pouch. Pinkie was counting on the store to be open.
I thought I would be the only one who noticed the Gift of the Magi reference!
you- ...you- you didnt- maud- cannon- bag- smile- LIES!
I guess Maud's sacrifice was the gift Pinkie had just gotten her. The mold is broken here, and maybe they found the original story too tragic.
YES! I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO GOT THE BIG REFERENCE.
+the humorous brony The one in the toy store.
+the humorous brony Your welcome!
Am I the only one who wants an episode where the pie sisters go around using their senses like superheroes?
+Welcome.To.The.Trash.Can No. You are not. There is much potential for greatness here.
carvor leonis
I need it to happen
This was a nice episode and shows how much closer she is to her sisters
Didn't liked that the guy actually believed that Maud is dangerous she had no expression
I did think that Rarity should have done is make a pouch
