Sir Alex has even stated that he thinks many other people deserve a lot of credit for his success. He claimed his best quality was recognizing talent and making sure he always had the best coaches around.
No wonder United is struggling because they are looking for a manager that can do what Sir Alex did at the club. Being a coach of a big club is tough but I can’t imagine having to manage the day to day activities that’s an impossible task for anyone. Pep’s job in City is tough but not impossible to be done as City have abundant of resources that literally can make the entire operation looking like a clockwork.
Yeah I can see why united fell apart after Fergie, guy managed the club, not just the team, basically took the structural backbone with him when he retired. Not his fault, if anything the club should've foreseen this and brought in guys to shadow and learn the non-tactical side of what Fergie did.
Thats why ferguson is the only manager to make the club into a global brand.

Watching most of the games after pep arrived at Barca until he left, it seemed like the attractive football only happened when teams were bold enough to attack and were poor - or teams were almost good enough to compete. Which was rare. Often a team defended well and played sensibly and ended up parking the bus while Barca played passy in a semi circle outside their opponents box. Many games were boring unless it was against awful opposition or the best of the best. the long range goals and magic and creativity were not peps vision.

SAF did the work of about 5 people. Man United needed to completely overhaul the structure of the club when he left rather than just randomly hiring managers and choosing players at random.

Ferguson was a CEO of a company, he didn't train the player he didn't observe others club, he didn't decide the strategy, his coach team did that (rene of them). While pep is a coach, create tactics, train players, build up formation. That's why in a term of "football" pep is better. Ferguson would be succesfull even let say he was running an oil company.

Sir Alex absolutely 1000% decided the strategy. Rene was super helpful in the same way Pep’s staff is. SAF also trained the team the majority of the time, he just wasn’t *always* there because he managed everything else too. The coaches were doing what he wanted, full stop. Pep couldn’t do it without his staff either - You don’t have to bring down SAF to prop up Pep - Pep and Sir Alex will both go down as two of the greatest coaches ever if not the two best

Well traditions managers at least in football don't need to manage every aspect, which is a big flaw in the system imo and being overworked is not a strong point but it is a very impressive one. The thing is Peps clubs haven't ever needed that. City for example have enough assets and resources that wouldn't borther the manager same thing for barca. Uniteds biggest flaw was the sole dependence of the great saf. He was like a singular bolt trying to keep a crane stable.
