    I work for a large mortgage company and this is definitely happening. The laws have to change because its just that simple to go down and change the paperwork.
    I had to explain to a guy why he was receiving foreclosure notices. His home was paid off. But the ex wife took out a 2nd mortgage without his knowledge with forged documents. She had already been paid during the divorce settlement. She made sure all the documents were delivered online with an account that she registered. He had no idea. They'd been divorced for years with no minor children. The foreclosure proceedings had already started. He was so hurt and I felt bad for him. All he could do is contact his divorce attorney and bring her up on charges. She never made one payment.

    • @justyouraverageintrovert8487
      @justyouraverageintrovert8487 6 місяців тому +7

      Wouldn’t that leave the mortgage company having to take the ex wife to court and the homeowner’s 2nd mortgage against him be dropped since it wasn’t him? Seems like this would be only between the mortgage company and the ex since she’s the one that committed the crime.

      It is. This is why we have title companies. Sooner or later the scammer will need to realize financial gains from the scam and sell. This will require a quitclaim deed from the actual owner, which obviously must be forged. Closings require a seller and buyer to be physically present, at which time arrest is almost certain. Forging a financial instrument is a big boy charge.

Both thieves from the vid don't look like they have a sizeable balance in their bank account, let alone own multi-million dollar properties. Ridiculous!

    I thought I have heard of a TITLE FREEZE being available? I have some brain damage, so I don't recall all the details, but it's a small defense against this type of fraud.

      There is Title Lock which is pretty useless and there is credit freeze and credit lock. Title Lock only monitors and alerts you of any changes to your title, which alerts you after the damage is already done.
