My favorite track from the prototype!
Me too m8
Same
This is my 4th favorite!
First is “Unused Track”
Then “Ice Cap Zone Act 2 (prototype)”
Then “Launch Base Zone act 1 (prototype)”
Finally this song.
Me too
mine is act 1 cuz it sound like the president is walking in
I love this song so much more than the final version used for some reason. Maybe it’s because the two acts music is actually different.
Me too
I actually like more the Sonic 3 Complete version, but it's the same songs, so I think I like more than the the original too.
@@OMundodosRetroGames why, it’s missing notes and some go off-key
@@glitchedblood The instruments sound better to me in S3Complete
the final launch base act 2 is just a worse launch base act 1 imo
0:00 Ch2, Ch4
1:07 Ch0, Ch1
2:14 Ch3, DAC
3:22 All PSGs, Ch3, DAC
4:30 Ch2, Ch4, All PSGs, Ch3, DAC
5:36 every channel
This is what Launch Base would sound like if it were a competitive map.
For me, the chimes of Channels 0 and 1 make this track as beautiful as it is.
It’s more of an electric piano than a chime
Psg 0 and 1 are unusually quiet in parts compared to most recordings
Yeah I found that too while making it and while listening to it on foobar. 0 and 1 are playing the same Melody just offset by the tiniest amount. It feels like the pitch should have been offset too but never was due to being unfinished
Gotta love that phase canceling effect!
@@carpathia808 Metropolis Zone used that too, tho the Squarewaves have a very slight Vibrato
I learned this from Deflemask, but some pitches cause 2 square channels to 'cancel' each other by combining incorrectly.
This has nothing to do with this comment other than it has to do with PSG but at the end they sound like Lava Reef Zone act 2 or hidden Palace.
honestly wish that this song was used in the final release, really good stuff
The final one is super good to me too. Should be like sonic cd 2011
Maybe it could’ve been used for Knuckles’ story.
@@SonicPlayer2004 indeed baldi
This track wouldn't be too out of place in Sonic Adventure 1 or 2
MadameSomnambule kinda would be out of place tho, SA and SA2 use redbook audio, 1 channel CD quality music, while the genesis has to create music in real-time using the YM2612 and multiple channels
@@chiptunerat I meant composition wise, like if this was remixed for the redbook audio in SA and all that like how Sonic 3D Blast songs in the genesis version ended up in SA1.
Maybe for a adventure field in SA1
@@FSAPOJake no, this was composed by the hydrocity composer, Masayuki Nagao
Idk why but 5:14 is my favorite part of the song
The only part that is better in act 1
I don't know why they used Channel 3 to bass and Channel 2 to the lead, because these 2 channels (including Channel 4) are constantly interrupted by the game SFX.
I'm so fucking elated and happy rn
4:29 would fit perfectly in a 'How It's Made' video
4:06 underrated
PSG channels couldn't handle it either!
Almost forgot about you, great video!
2:14 tension song
This is catchy and comical, even better than Act 1! This masterpiece appears to have been done by Masuyuki Nagao, once again topped off by masterful PSG appregios and catchy drums.
Whenever I hear this kinda instrument as he main melody,
I think of Milk…
Don’t ask me why.
wtf 😭😭
@@khalilanarchy Don’t ask
That's weird... Whenever I hear Channel 0 & 1(espesually the PC version), I think of a creek.
It sounds like water that... Moves.
It seems like the drivers in the prototype ROM have better DAC sample playback.
probably because the sound team was still trying to transition from the sonic 2 driver to a different one
Because the vgm files are ripped directly from the rom files.
I jammed to this way too hard lol
Random thought but I feel like this is the first time I've seen the bass in Channel 3 rather than 0 or 1.
What’s better in my opinion

Competition Mode Zone 6: Flying Fortress
this hydrocity instrument at 0:00 supposed to be a high pitched rock guitar.
Superman is heading to space!

I adore channels 0 and 1.

Thank you.
I have yet to see PSG 2 used for music.
They probably reserve it for sound effects
PSG 2 is often given up to enable the special noise mode on PSG 3, for hihats. If they tried to use it, it would only be able to output sound when PSG 3 isn't.
saladguy That doesn't seem right. All 4 PSG channels are being used in Master System and Game Gear music.
@@SilverSonic1992 it's simply because those songs use the standard noise mode in those games rather than the special mode. Standard is limited to 3 different tones, which most SMS/GG composers used for simply kick drums and snares, but Special gives the noise channel a full 7 octaves, that octave being taken from the third channel because hardware limitations. The sonic 3 composers decided to use the highest pitched tone for a hihat, so they can have enough space on the 2612 for lead echo, chords, or other things. There are Genesis games that use the full 3 channels, but usually sacrifice one FM channel for hihats. That's what I've at least learned from seeing oscilloscope videos and fucking around on Deflemask.
Sonic 2's Competition Result Screen has PSG 2.
the PSG just stop sounding like it should
it’s broken in this recording due to an offset in foobar
It's so wierd to me that the two square channels have such bad phase issues.
that’s not supposed to happen normally, according to carpathia, this effect happens with an offset in foobar
Hello there
Can I request a soundtrack for you to deconstruct?
For what system?
1:37 No idea why this part sounds much much louder in Origins
Sky Sanctuary Proto Music Please
Yyyyyyyyaaaaaaaasssssssss
Is it just me or is this the only Act 2 that doesn't carry something over from Act 1?
It does carry over some similar melodies from Act 1 to Act 2, but remixed.
Yeah, Lava reef zone also seems like the acts have completely different music, but it's just heavily remixed. In sonic 3D Blast, Panic Puppet's acts have different composers, so I'm pretty sure there's no connection between Panic Puppet's acts.
It keeps the main upbeat part
I paused the video at 0:06 and when I came back and pressed play I instantly blurted out laughing because it sounded like amogus.
sus base act 2
Ice Cap Act 2 prototype pls and Green Grove Act 2
Its very similar to act 1
Green grove would be cool
If anyone else says they prefer this one, I’m gonna be angry
Rudney RRadness it’s not a bad song, but I love the proper version sooooo much
i actually like this one better but i get it.when you grow up with the original its hard to go to another song (and i mean the original song is just good)
Sonic Fan1579 I never played sonic 3 until I was 18-19, the songs in them 2 games are so insanely well put together.
Hydrocity 2 is a masterpiece
@@wizzenberry ok well yea hydrocity act 2 is way wayyy better than this zones music (the original and mania rendition) actually i think hydrocity is the best zone in that game for me....or angel island........or flying battery.....ok tbh everything in this game gets a pass from me besides the barrel of doom i despise that crud
I prefer this one, get mad.
Not really that catchy but ok.
