- We bought a abandoned hoarded house and renovated it... once owned by a reclusive artist we make our way through the house and bring it back to life… but just when I thought we were done we had to do it all over again.
Potters house start to finish. For those of you who saw this series the first time, it has been condensed with 30 minutes of new footage at the end showing the second Reno.
So nice that you’ve got the old film of Dave to help remember him.
❤❤❤ 🙏🙏🙏
Not gonna even try to pretend there were onions. I teared up seeing Dave.
@@deneandoll9922 me too, he was such a great guy, so glad Alex included him in this video!
came on to say the same thing
no wonder the renters' damage hurt so much
It was so nice to see Dave again! What a gift!
Watching Mary take her last ride again has left me crying like I just lost someone very dear to me, I felt like I knew her watching the potter house series. And it angered me when I saw how the tenants left the house, it felt like a slap in the face, not just to your hard work but to a beautiful soul.
Me too, we all feel like we kind of knew her, and Alex is such a wonderful man to honor her request! May she RIP!
I agree I was bawling when Alex took Mary on her last ride. And to see the disgusting tenants disrespected her home was absolutely heartbreaking💔
I'm glad I wasn't the only one bawling 😭. I felt like I was there and knew her through watching Alex and friends original videos of the Potter's house. Bless you all for showing up and taking such great care of your friend. 💕
Me too
Glad I'm not the only one that had water works in full flow. So many speedboat memories. We have a special piece of pottery that was make for us by one of Mary's students. So it really meant a lot to get to know her thru you Alex, thank you.
What I really like about this guy is that he doesn't come across as arrogant like so many vloggers do. I could watch him all day.....which I"ll probably do.
I just want to adopt Josh and Jakota. I Love those boys. I’m old enough 🥰
I've been in my rented house for the past 17 years and I could never imagine doing this. It may not be mine but it's my home. These people have no decency and were down right rude. I am glad you Have great friends that helped you.
It has nothing to do with decency. Hording is about deep depression . it's a painful mental illness.
@@MsWatcheverything I meant the last tenants had no decency to look after the house after Alex had fixed it up after the hoarding situation.
P8
It seems like they were pissed at him and some of this damage was purposeful.
I don’t think these renters were hoarders!
Just filthy dirty people !
The original Potter's house series is what got me into your channel! It was so sad that the renters trashed it, and I'm looking forward to seeing the second restoration.
me too!!!
Didn't you watch the video? That was the 2nd restoration.
@@nancymontgomery8897 don't you think she wrote that before she started watching it? 🙄

Can you charge them for the damages? That’s just ridiculous!!
The gross water bottle? Probably for shaking water onto clothing for ironing. Vague memory of my mom teaching me to use one when I was a kid.
Yes, that was used to sprinkel water on the cloths when ironing before steam irons !
Yes definitely was a sprinkler bottle. My mom had one for ironing when I was a kid. There was no steam irons then so you had to add the moisture to clothes prior to ironing!
Yep! You could buy only that stopper and it fit any bottle you may have around...I watched a lady use a coke bottle to get the iron to steam out heavier wrinkles...she also added a bit of starch to her water!
You are right, my Mom used 1 like that when she did her ironing.
A sprinkler for dampening clothes before ironing. My Mom used it every week, then I had to help with the pressing.
Mrs. Mary was a beautiful woman and you really appreciate her. God bless you.
You just cured me of ever wanting to rent out my property. I am utterly disgusted by your previous tenants. I hope you had legal recourse, it’s a crime what they did to that beautiful home.
I hope so too. Get the $200 back to replace the stained glass decals and all the rest of the money for repairs. I really would sue them if I was Alex.
Yes, please sue the former tenant. I love the style of the house. After dealing with tenants just once I said no more renting!
@@pattiwhite9575 Also, you are legally allowed to add tenant is responsible for any and all repairs. It will make them more apt to not damage the place as they wont want to pay to fix it.
As a renter myself, this is not normal, I would not be surprised if the previous tenants have some other major problems already. Judging by the old tvs and damage to walls and panels, it could well be meth.
Douglas Opferbeck This is the exception not the rule. I was a renter before buying my home and always left it cleaner than I got it most people do
This is really bittersweet. I have fallen in love with a house I could never own. All the love and care that went into refurbishing this place twice tells me Home really is where the heart is.
I also am in love with this home, and like you Tracy, I could never afford to own it either. I pray that Mary's home will end up with someone that will love it as much as we do.
@@leesasees Me too! This is my dream home but at the age of 73 with only retirement, it is out of my reach. Maybe in my next life. :-)
@@sueericson1104 Sue, I'm in your boat as well, 70 and on a fixed income. Blessings to you and may you be in good health my new friend.

Wow, the 2nd revamp looks wonderful!
Alex, your Hans impersonation with his Santa twin was 100%. Lol.
Love that you ended with Mary's picture.
Mary, Alex made it right again. 😇
The segment with the ambulance in the funeral procession was a nice touch. I had not seen that before. I watched the original videos that you posted as the renovation was taking place. It is nice to see the whole story condensed into one video. Thanks for doing this.🙂🙃🪒🔨♥🌠🚑🙏
Just goes to show that for every bad thing that happens....good can come of it. Seeing your friends come 'round from all over to help you, again, Alex is testimony of what good men and women you ALL ARE... what a pleasure to watch, thank you all
That is a testament of what a good person you are Alex, that your friends would be there for you, no matter what. What a great group of people you are surrounded with…we cried when we saw what they did to the house. Take care
I watched the first time around. I can’t believe how much I forgot. That’s for reposting this version.
After seeing the initial second walk-through again, I can only hope that you notify any potential landlords, AirBNBs about these people. I know you want to be the better person and not media-shame them, but my word, they DAMAGED your property, they STOLE your property. These people have zero respect for themselves, let alone anyone else.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this.
They are demons
Very well said! They need to be held accountable

Well, don't provide a good reference. But your recourse is legal, not social. You can't legally name and shame them.

I just discovered your channel on Friday and have probably seen about half of your posts. I am in total awe of you, your family, and your friends. Thank you for showing us that love, kindness, skill and humor still exist.
So nice to see Dave in this video as he spent a lot of time helping you out. Hans looks so different way back from the beginning but still as lovable. Patrick the ghost made an appearance as well. This was a nice montage of the beginning of the refurbished Potter house. Josh and Jakota being introduced to us was special. I think Austin has that funky red lamp that was in the bedroom. Pickle Rick what a memorable thing and humorous as well. I learnt a lot about renovating from all the work you guys did. This was definitely a family affair and the extended Curiosity collective family as well. Nice to see what the stained faux glass panels did look like. The piano sounded good back then. Patrick has a beautiful voice, I enjoy his channel. That was such a touching memory when Mary passed and how you honoured her this made me tear up once again. It was so disappointing to see the disrespect that the renters had for the Potters house especially since you did so much to help them. Such a statement to you when you have such good friends and family that come together to give you a hand. Nanking Cherries, I have them in my yard, they make great jelly. Sunshine just a wagging her tail lightens up the mood for sure. Nice to see Ryan along with Josh and Jakota as well as Austin they are all a good bunch of guys. Zinovia is a gem as well and such a darling, we just love her. Hans is also such a character and such a hard worker. Nice to see that Mary’s house is shining once again and hopefully the people that buy it will cherish the hard work and love that was put into bringing it back to it’s glory. Thanks for the journey and sending prayers that someone will make this their home soon.
His lifelong friend Jason and his wife were so kind to help out too!!
I've always loved this house. Considering how much stuff was in the house you can really say they don't make houses that well any more. It held up under 9 tons. You brought together so many unique individuals to assist in restoring the house. Mary was a Canadian treasure.
I forgot about Dave and meeting Hans. The sink was truly a gem in the rough. It was returned to it's pristine glory. Patrick was a hoot. And Josh talking to himself.
This was the beginning of your extended family.
Now i like the house it's bright and spacious. I'm glad you painted it white.
The infamous Patrick the Ghost scene will NEVER get old 🤣🤣🤣

Go MARY! This is the BEST ONE YET!
Even prettier than before. Excellent job everyone!!!
I am so in love with this house. I actually teared up when I saw how destroyed it was.
Mary would've been proud . It looked so pretty.
Breaks my heart to see how someone destroyed all your hard work.
My Grandmother had a bottle like that filled with water for ironing. She would shake the water on the clothes with it.
My mother had the same, back before they started putting steam and squirters in the actual irons.
I remember she sound of Mom shaking the water on the clothes but also the smell of the iron steam when she ironed.
I remember my Mom doing the same...with a water glass bottle in the 60's..
mee too
I still have my mom's and it is on top of cabinets in my laundry room with other antiques.
It looks beautiful...so sorry the people made a mess. The new owners will have a great house. Good luck selling it .
Alex I just saw this my heart broke for you when you seen the house in the state they had left it. U could hear the hurt in your voice. Once again it is beautiful. Love watching you and your family. Enjoy your life.
Alex, you are so inspirational. While you were so disappointed about how the house was left, you still saw the value in honoring Mary by re-doing it all. I admire you so much for not letting a very bad situation get in the way of doing the right thing....while limiting your bashing of those that left you this mess.
I'm only 20 minutes in, and seeing everyone who a lot of us follow because of them being in this series, plus how so many of us found you from this series, it just reminds us how far we've all come and how you've built so many wonderful friendships through the house of this amazing woman ❤️

I’m an American/former New Yorker who lived in New Westminster, BC for a few years and cracked up laughing when you talked about townsfolk walking into the house. The first time this happened I freaked out! Offended the neighbors by yelling at them to get out 😂… It was a shock and although cute, we never quite got used to it! 😅
Painting of stair treads….paint from one side two thirds leaving a space along the side to walk. Then next day paint two thirds the other way leaving a third to walk up and down. Then you get two coats or four in the center of the tread where it will wear from use.
I always suggest checking up on renting houses throughout a renting periods and putting clauses in the rental about a certain amount of property damage can equal eviction.

Jeez I watched every ep of the first Reno and it really sucks they trashed it. Seems like a violent family with lots of punching the walls etc. I mean accidents happen but come on that's borderline criminal.
Borderline? Yikes.
Yeah I thought that when the bathroom door was kicked in, why else do that except if there was abuse going on and I think a lot of the wallmarks were intentional, maybe some game going round with a hammer and smashing walls for fun. It's not rare for renters to do such things though, I'm in the Netherlands and when my neighbours were forced to move out they did thousands of damage and I heard some other houses have had even more damage. They are only shooting themselves in the foot because there are not many renting agencies so if you get banned from one there goes your housing. They know exactly who to charge too, not as easy to run and hide.
Actually. I hope he contacted whichever child protective services there are in the area. Seems like an incredibly sad and dangerous home for a child to live in.
The second he showed the front yard and then the side, I knew it wouldn’t be good. Kids, too many people coming and going, dogs, too lazy to clean, and lots of fighting and/or excessive parties. I bet the neighbors are glad the renters are gone.
I thought too, that there must have been some domestic violence going on as well as alcohol abuse and possible neglect of children, with that kind of damage, along with intentional malicious damage. So sad. I hope that family gets help and improves their life.
The ghost bit at about 36 minutes had me rolling 😂
Edit at 1hr42min. How do people live like that?! That house was left beautifully, and those renters tried their best to destroy it. I hated renting because renters get a bad rep because of people like this. My landlord was okay, except he didn't want to replace the disgusting carpet and tried to keep our deposit over it. Both sides of the fence have bad reps.
I forgot how much I loved this house. All the music, all people we met, and the adventures.

I am still binge watching your video here and I am so facsinating and seeing that house come to life with the respect you have for Mary, the history and beauty of the house as well. I dont know if you found a solution to the hole in the stove, but I could picture a nice sturdy piece of glass with a beautiful vintage floral or brightly colored piece of artwork maybe done in glass paints or even real stained glass (that can withstand some heat) inserted there. With all of the white of the backsplash, awesome white sink and the white of the cabinets it would be an eyestopper!

The feces and urinating is beyond disgusting. You don’t like your landlord so you do that?? Who does that?!
Sorry, weren't the renters the adult children and grandchildren of some neighbours? They had talked about the possibility of buying the house. To me, it smacks of pure envy.

Unbelievable that you wouldn’t have checked in on the house in over 2 years! Only thing I think of is they actually paid their rent on time every month with no issues!!
@@TJNAG it wasn't down the street iirc, it's over a 3hr drive for him. Moreover, it looks like they purposely messed up the place. Not a wall was spared from what looked to be a hammer. Really appreciate the opportunity to see you the gang take a ordinary and make it exceptional not once but twice. So many bad renters cause good renters increase in deposits , stricter rules, it's a shame the amounts of damage they do to each place they rent. Makes it hard for a good renter , it's a lot of the reason they don't like to fix things etc. Good job , love shows like this , use to enjoy this kind of work. Before and After
I owned a duplex and lived on one side and the other side out. One tenant I had to evict....left 300 holes in the walls! From fist size to nail size. One shower door evidently got broken...it was gone! Did you keep count of all the holes! Your tenants were slobs! No respect for maintaining their home....no respect shown to you as owner!
