OnePlus Open Review: 2 Month Update...It Broke!

  • This is a review of the OnePlus Open Foldable phone! This is Oneplus's first generation folding phone created to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Google Pixel fold. Unfortunately after 2 months of use the screen started not working and dead pixels made it so much worse.

    I had one for a week and I returned it bc of this reason alone. The problem with foldables is the customer service period! They always blame the customer and not the product.

      Hopefully they’ve changed their approach. Fingers crossed! Mines being repaired as we speak

    I had nothing but problems from the screen of my Z Fold 4. It broke twice, the first time similar to this and Samsung refused to fix it under warranty. I'm like you and baby my phone, and there was no accidental damage.
    The repair bill was £589. I got rid of it in the end for a Nothing Phone 2 and havent regretted it for a second. Folding phones are just unreliable tech.

      Wow that’s quite the repair bill. Sorry to hear about your experience. Goes to show that it’s a folding phone thing in general and not merely exclusive to brands like OnePlus. I suppose it’s the risk we take trying out what is still considered “bleeding edge tech”. I agree with you and also don’t believe we’re quite there yet with folding panel displays being consistently reliable.

    Just sent mine back today. If I lived in a big city or place that services folding phones I would have kept it but I don't so it would take awhile to get it fixed. I knew this and bought extended warranty but just didn't want to take the chance

    Wow I was about to buy that phone saturday but I ended up buying the The galaxy z fold five I guess I dodged the bullet

      I’ve gotten my phone back. Haven’t had issues with it since but fingers crossed!

    I can also see you have some screen damage at the top left middle side of the screen.
    Looks self inflicted to me.
    Just saying.

      If it was self inflicted I would own up to it and take accountability but in this specific instance it wasn’t the case

      Unfortunately not. Will make an update once I receive the phone back. Theyve had my phone for over a month and a half now lol

    I would love to get a OnePlus open. But I could not send the phone back because it would be my only phone and that is unacceptable that I would have to send the phone back to get repair. That leaves me without a phone that can't happen! Until they change that policy I don't think I would get one. Keep us posted on how you make out

      Right, fully understandable and fair point. Maybe if they shipped us a temporary replacement unit of some sort to hold us over while the phone gets repaired. That would be the only solution that comes to mind

      @DupeTubeTeam I completely agree! Then I would have no problem getting one. But I certainly can't send mine back without a phone. 👍

      If you pay extra for the plan they send you a new one and you send the old one after you transferred your info.

      ​@@DupeTubeTeamthere is a plan like that but it's paid under warranty you have to send it get it repaired and wait for them to send it back.

    Whats the email you used to get in contact with them i had the same issue but i got a full refund and just ordered a new one

      Will make an update video. Currently being repaired now by them. This process is now well over 3 weeks so far.

      I think every brand is worth a shot. We’ll see how the customer service plays out in the coming days 🤣
