The Jaguar XJ is the British automaker's flagship sedan, and it represents a new direction from the nameplate's storied history. Despite being the luxury brand's largest offering, the use of aluminum in both the XJ's body and underlying structure keep it relatively lightweight and nimble. Powerful engine options and lighter weight mean a smaller, sportier feel.
For 2016, the XJ's exterior carries over from 2015 mostly unchanged. The bold grille is more upright and even larger than last year and gets a new wire mesh pattern. Full adaptive LED headlights are standard on all XJ models for 2016. The drop-dead gorgeous roofline, sail-away rear pillar, and runway-model sensibilities definitely remain. Inside, the InControl infotainment system governs all the secondary controls.

Oh Em Gee finally I have searched my whole life or six cylinder V-8 and I was beginning to think they didn’t exist…
Apparently they do! 😂
Just picked up my Jaguar XJ R-Sport today, and thank this video for the inspiration. What an absolutely beautiful beast.
Best XJL review I've ever seen on UA-cam! I really hope to buy one sooner or later
I got one last year. The V8 final edition. It’s completely unfair to all the people that don’t own one!
Just picked up one of these (XJL Portfolio) in white and it is the most AMAZING car. The only thing I HATE is the attention I'm getting.
I have an XJL V8 “Collection Edition,” which is the final edition of 2019. All the attention is getting really annoying.
First!! Amazing review!! Great Jag fan and keep up the good work!!
Thank you! This weekend, tons of new content coming your way.
Very nice review, thanks!
Could someone tell me please, how a 6 cylinder V8 looks like ? 😅
six cylinder V8? hmmm....must be a James Bond's car :))
Every V8 made is a 6 cylinder with 2 extra cylinders.
Dope review👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks 💯
“i’m a detail guy” also him : “6 cylinder v8” 😂
I never will understand why Jag never mated the supercharged 5.0l with the AWD. Especially in this XJL bigger heavier car could have really benefited.
Because it would be a ton of cost to reengineer the components to handle the extra torque. They didn’t have money to burn at the time when sales were tough due to an unfair reputation.
@@JetFire9 this is a very accurate assessment
this car very best
Lovely!
Wish I had a tenner for every time he said the car was unbelievable :)
6-cylinder V8....?? hmmm....."detail is very important to me.."
An XJ is what M is chauferred around in the the Bond movie Skyfall
He is literally obsessed with this car!
Love it.
6:00 - 6 cylinder V8 ? Wtf?
I notice that too. Then at 8:04 he claims to be a detail guy.
Lol
Hello Unique Mechanics, My name is Alfred. I am a big fan of your UA-cam channel. I watch it all the time for reviews on different vehicles. I am currently looking to purchase a vehicle but I have 2 vehicle that I am interested in. 2016 Audi A8L 4.0 V8 vs 2016 Jaguar XJL Portfolio AWD V6. I have driven both cars and I am leaning more (just a little) towards the Audi A8L because the drive and the luxurious roomy interior. I love the Jaguar because of the exterior, no other car looks like it on the road, I like the interior as well, the drive is a balance of luxury and performance. I saw your reviews on both cars, I am not sure if you did a review of the 2016 Audi A8L or 2016 Jaguar XJL Portfolio AWD V6. Base on your experience in car reviews and familiarity with both vehicles, which car would you choose between the two? Thanks for your assistance
Just buy the XJ without thinking about it too much!! You won't be disappointed
How’s the:
1. Reliability
2. Fuel consumption in traffic (you mentioned highway -25mpg, is the 20mpg in & around town)
3. Safety kit (any radar cruise control)?
4. Paintwork issues, long term
5. Maintenance costs?
I've had tye 3.0 supercharged V6 for 4 years. No problems. Don't go to the dealer. They overcharge. Perfirmance very strong. Cruise at 70mph at 1,500 rpm. I get 32mpg straight highway. Mid 20's around town. Really. Killer Meridian sound system with separated voices in all 4 corners. Can go real loud without distortion. Staggered wheels. 275's in back and 245's up front. Suspension more buttoned down than competitors. All aluminum. Lighter 3,800 lbs makes for sporty handling. Wife loves the Message seats. People stop me to take pictures. Heavy depreciation. Get one like new for easy money. JD Powers rated them better than average. Fun to own and especially drive. Our passengers always comment how outstanding the interior details leather wood etc. I was sooo happy with this one that I bought a 2010 XKR Convertible with 46'000 miles for mid $20k. Like new. Supercharged V8. 1 year. No problems.
Great review, are you going to do the f type r
I wish the R, gorgeous, but never know what comes from time to time. It's all based on whats available to me. But I know what your looking for and I will try to deliver.
How much money do you need for the maintenance of this car it looks amazing? If that thing cost more than luxurious apartament im gonna cry :D
6 cyl V8, something you dont see very often in these parts.
Did I really hear 6 cylinder v8 !! ??
Mo bettah
It is so sad when a dealership slaps a cheesy bumper sticker with their name on a luxury car. Put it on the license plate bracket, not on the paint.
6-cylinder V8...?? hmmm.....
Yeah........raises an eyebrow.
I was thinking the same thing...6cy V8?
Akwasi Asante so what? I have a 8 cylinder v12.
😂😂
I like to save gas. I have a 4 cylinder V8.
Zero credibility when he said 6 cylinder V8.
Sorry buddy no such thing as a 6 cylinder V8
6 cylinder v8?
no backseat review
What is 6 cylinder v8🤷
I was honestly a little disappointed when I drove one. Its a nice car, but in my opinion, although it looks good, its not built as well as its German rivals
Symbolic Automotive what qualities attribute to "not as well built" explain? I drove one and wow was I impressed
bill jonhnson Dont get me wrong, its a great car on its own, just falls a little short on the german cars. For example, on the Audi A8 or even A6, there is no lag on their infotainment system unlike on the Jag. The quality of leather and wood is better in the Audi A8, and in general all the materials feel a little better. The Audi has more comfortable seats too. When comparing bolster adjustment on the seats, between an Audi and Jag, you realise more time and money probably went into Audi's development, and this is the feeling across tech, engines, erogonoics, userbility, driving dynamics, etc. When opening the panoramic roof shades on the Jag, there was too much noise from the material on the shades rubbing, which is an issue you wouldn't expect from an Audi or Mercedes. The German cars just seem more refined. Even technology wise, the Jag falls short, for example all it's German rivals have night vision as an option, the Jag doesn't.
Really? You think BMW builds a better car? It's all plastic.
@@symbolicof I have had Audis for 7 years. I respect them, but that's it. There was more soul in my old Vauxhall Astra. Recently I test drove and A8- then took the XJ for a spin. Its in a different league to Audi- so now the proud owner of of Prem Lux 3.0 diesel. With the Jaguar the smell of the leather, the sense of occasion and the drive- it purrs down the road. Agree the seats in the Audi are better as is the entertainment system. But I think the sound from the speakers is better in the Audi. Also the Sat Nav lady in the Jag - just prefer her. Also I have park assist, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel- not sure if they are available on the Audis. One thing is for sure the headlights really light up the road ahead. On my Jag have not noticed any rubbing noise from sunroof. Really, I got bored of buying a car from transport- I wanted to be entertained - the Jag is a joy to drive.
@@symbolicof shallow impression
Oh!! It's so beautiful! It's sooooo gorgeous! It's absolutely stunning! Really?? This guy just can't seem to stop with the adjectives. It's sickening! eek! What, does he think the consumer is unable to judge for himself as to whether the vehicle is beautiful or not? After eight minutes of watching this video I just had to stop it. I couldn't take another of his adjectives. I still feel sick. eeeek.
nah dude u tweakin n all da mofos who liked ur pathetic comment. I myself was in this exact car at a dealership and I was blown away on how i felt being inside. This reviewer hit all the spots and reacted the same way I did yesterday. Its totally different when you are in the car urself u bastard
20 miles to the gallon is not incredible
high-way, thats good.
5:57 6 cylinder V8 ????
That's a new one.🤣
Then to top it off 8:02
Stick to watches buddy.
Big Berni, thanks for watching my video from 6 years ago.
@@UniqueMechanics That's correct 6 years ago, have you learned anything about cars since? Mr 'Im perfectionist' 🤣
Cut the 5 million "you guys".
This is very unprofessional vid, it’s funny
Car is small inside . Materials are cheap like in ford mondeo. You cant compare quality of this car to his german rivals. I've seen one today with plan to buy bud sadly this is no true Jag anymore. Car is big outside but inside is size of bmw 3series.
Quality of leather is not top of the range like in old Jags also all those shining plastic trims looks cheap China made like. You can see straight away colaboration wit Indian TATA . Merc ,Audi, Bmw are much better made with much better quality materials used.
Feeling of this car on the road reminds more honda accord then a Jag. Boot is very small for the size of the car , seats are narrow, at the bact there is not much space for legs , try new merc c-klass and you will have the same roo. There is no sense to compare this car with s-klass, bmw 7 series or audi a8 because they are bigger inside and so much better made. Even the glove box is small and when you open it you understand what I mean talking about quality. Feels so plastic like materials is glued straight to the plastic.
I wanted to buy one because of oryginal design ,but quality is not good , and is too smal.
I choose instead bmw 535d and omg maybe not looking so cool ,but wow how that cars drive and more space inside with better quality materials used just better car !
I would have to disagree with you on that the XJ material on the inside has stood the test of time I seen more issues with the bmw and Audi with their interiors compared to this late model
The XJ is a great car - but, his over excited presentation makes the whole video worthless because it's disjointed. He's like an over excited frog on a lilly pond hopping back and forth from pad to pad, but, never choosing one he wants. If he had taken the time to test drive the car before making the video then he could have presented it in the order it was supposed to be - logically!!.
Thank you for commenting on a 6 year old video!
