WOW😮 I just had this talk with my wife. When I feel anxious, I do exactly that, I think it’s the intrusive thoughts, but when I realize it’s not, I start thinking about the intrusive thoughts. 🤦🏻‍♂️ wow, can’t win for losing. It gets old!

I have anxiety about my stress then ruminate on that. Which snowfalls into other things like health anxiety, existential anxiety DpDR etc.

I'm having the same problem brother.. I constantly find any possible threats and find solutions to it and really tiring.. But the good part is, it was pretty severe 3-4 years back that affected my daily life and now it's just another stress that's all and this video is really good at explaining it.. I hope we both find happiness together. Have a nice day!

Anxiety about religion and the people I love not loving me. It feels like I've been treading water my whole life. Rumination is torturous.

This seems so obvious but I tried exposure for years just trying to keep track of it all in my head. Your advice from this and other videos to actually write down the thoughts and responses pulled me out of some very difficult OCD. Seeing it on paper has helped me so much in identifying the thoughts as just thoughts and not real threats. ETA: writing the thoughts was scary and its own form of exposure - that’s why it helped.

I struggled with debilitating chronic pain for years and it was a mind body issue and they teach indifference to your pain to get it to stop but they don’t teach it as effective as you do! Your videos not only cured my chronic pain but also stops me from absolutely ruminating about mistakes I make etc because after the pain left, anxiety and rumination over everything I’m doing in my life took over and I used the same techniques to tap those down too. I cannot thank you enough for your videos!!!

OCD may be still latching about thay because you are too rigid about juridical law and you think you are not "those who break it".
Law is a suggestion of behavior, it becomes an obligation when the State catchea your crime, not before

How do I resist rumination when it is persistent?

    • @alien-buggy
      @alien-buggy 3 місяці тому +1

I know it's hard for you.. I used to have constant rumination 3-4 years back that affected my daily life but now it got a lot better and it's all about learning about your anxiety and handling it with care.. This video is a gem for me..
      Things that could help you:
      1. Physical exercise - Try to find games that you love. You will forget everything when you focus on other things that you really enjoy. (For me it's volleyball)
      2. Meditative state - Allocate time where you won't think or ruminate (For me, hot water bath while hearing jazz)
      3. Don't care - As long as you stay alive and legal, everything is fixable. (Failing a semester, Getting fired from job, Being broke, being a failure)
      4. Give in on things that you can't control - Everyone single living thing have this uncertainty (Health issues - heart problem, kidney failure, accident) - Ask your friends and family why they don't have this fear and learn their responses (It really helped me)
So basically, I realised it's all about learning how to respond to the anxiety fears. What is the difference between us and normal people? How do they react differently? Try to understand the difference. That's exactly why I like this video. It helps me cope with my anxiety fears too..
      Hope you get well soon!

Hi Nathan! Is it normal for OCD to cause thoughts that make you to think certain things are signs of something? Like sometimes if I have a nightmare I’ll wonder if it was a sign telling me my fear is real.

Hello! Nathan watching your videos might help understand me that I have OCD, but at the same time I don't think I do and I'm afraid. Also, I would like to ask a question can you develop OCD because of bad stories or movies that traumatized you by having intrusive thoughts?

    Hello
Great video, I just have a question. I was on medication for OCD and went through 12 weeks of CBT and things are much better. As advised by my doctor, I stopped taking my medication quite a few months ago, however recently, as I've moved to university, there are some compulsions happening that make me think maybe I should be back on medication. Do you think this is just a defence mechanisms of my brain of some sort or should I consider going back on medication?

Here’s what my ocd does. I have to watch your video again because my brain was fixated on your frog picture behind you keeps moving keeps disappearing and reappearing in different videos and then today there is bowser last time I think it was something from Star Wars. I don’t know what it is. I am guessing lack of sleep. I love that frog I collect frog theme things. I guess today my brain wants to see it as weird, strange a game maybe(peek a boo where did you go). Ok it moved so what. It’s not the first time it has moved. Weird? Maybe maybe not. Maybe I find comfort in the familiar. Maybe I’m like monk. At least you’re still in the video 😂 and that’s a good familiar. Keep up the good work.

Why is it that I can go two years without even thinking the thoughts or if I do, not caring about them. And then all of a sudden, the anxiety happens and all the thoughts flood in. I tell myself it’s just that I’ve given up faking it and this is truth but I don’t want it to be. I want to be normal me again but it feels impossible ☹️
