Just popped in to say this is the single best, and possibly only, youtube tip I've ever used that's had such a dramatic impact on my swing. It started by fixing my over-the-top driver issue. I knew I wasn't shallowing it, I had lessons pointing it out, but this drill is the only thing to actually correct it. I then applied it to my 3-wood and 3H which I THOUGHT I hit well but this ramped up the consistency. THEN I applied it down the irons and the consistency and compression improvements have been crazy good. It feels like I unlocked a little secret no one else knew because none of the instructors I tried ever fixed my swing plane issues like this single little drill. I was also compounding my issues by doing the elbow in and down thing which just jammed me up and forced me to slow my swing down to compensate. Awesome stuff.
Probably one of the greatest explanations, I’m a over the top guy 💯!! And have fought the wrong way most of my life! This is the first time I’ve heard put this way and makes way more since!! Going to range tomorrow to try it, thank you so much from San Diego California!!
Alex I watched this tip yesterday and as a lifelong slicer I did some of these swings at home and then headed out to my usual course. It was absolutely amazing, finally something that really worked! I was swinging easier and finally coming down in the slot and it changed everything. Drives were actually hitting the fairway and distance increased thus I knocked 7 strokes off of my 9 hole average. What a game changer..Thank you so much!!!
Great vlog Alex, I am a one handed golfer who appreciates this one handed driving drill. The driver is my hardest club to execute and think this drill will help. Much appreciated. Thanks
I just ran across this, and I love this advice! I do the other thing to shallow that you speak of throwing the club down behind you and it's effective most of the time ... but I just tried this swing feel combined with what I used to do. It actually feels way more natural the way you teach it!! great work brother you are doing an amazing job. I love all of your videos!
Thank you thank you thank you! Today I video recorded myself and I’m shallowing , thanks to this video. I watched ALL OF THEM, This one was the one that clicked with me.🙏
Alex .., that looks like a good drill. I think I will work up from my lighter clubs to my driver, however, because I am a very senior golfer and I don’t know how many times I can swing the driver one handed.
This drill was unbelievably helpful for me. I struggled with a steep swing and was trying to understand how I would need to change my wrist positioning to get it all to work. I just came back from the range and made great progress. Thank you!!!!!
@@AlexElliottGolf thank you. Its going to. I had about 200 videos downloaded and now I have 2 of yours only. So many coaches on UA-cam but your vids seems just be just on my wavelength. So thank you!
Bookmarking this one. I've been trying to get shallower for a few years and struggling. Does it make sense that it's easier to achieve with shorter clubs vs. longer? That's the experience I've had. I feel like the longer clubs are really dragging hard and have trouble hitting solid.
YES ALEX! I’ve saved this video and I’ll be trying it ASAP that’s one of my biggest issues I struggle with in my game, I’ve tried for yonks to sort this out hopefully this will!
My pro had me doing this a couple of days ago. I’m finding it really hard to do. An absolute key move, but I’m struggling with it. Will keep going though. Thanks for all the posts. Appreciated very much.
Awesomeness. There are so many ways to try and explain the same thing in golf. The swing is endlessly complicated yet deceptively simple. This concept really works well for me, especially with the slo mo video of wrong vs. right. I could put a video of myself before and after and it would show the EXACT same thing. Love it!
Great explanation and drill, thx Alex. I am a lefty that plays righty, and this move is very uncomfortable when I have tried to shallow before. These drills will help me gain the right feeling.
ive always struggle with a little over the top. i used to drive ok but now i cant hit the ball. if im not hitting the ball into the ground im hooking it and the ball barely comes off the ground. i cant wait to try this
@@AlexElliottGolf I'm going to try this drill today at the range. People mention ground forces, and using the legs for power but it definitely looks like the whip in the lead arm comes from the momentum of turning.
Thank you for those drills and pointers. I have a steep downswing path that grieves me and gives me inconsistent results. I have been struggling with achieving a natural feeling of shallowing.
Love your videos Alex but I have one question…. The courses you record at never have anybody playing… do they close the course for you or does nobody play over there?? lol 😉
so if you set up to the ball and visualize that the club head moves in a clockwise rotation from take away to impact and let the hands lead the way should be the sensation correct?
Hey Alex love the drill. As other subscribers have pointed out the PDF is not accessible. I personally have a very small social media presence hence I don't do Facebook, Twitter and the like, so am I ineligible to access the PDF because of this fact? Keep up the great work!
Hi, i do post all PDF’s Facebook but I am trying to come up with a different may. Perhaps I can take your email to send these to. Which email would you want this to?
Alex this in combination with "Want to hit driver better" using the 2 alignment sticks and setting the wall and separation sequence. Cant find the video on You Tube. Please provide the link. It is the hip rotation element sequence staying inside the wall I want - Please help
Great Video. I am always working on shallowing the club. By the way, when are you publishing the winner for the Driver? I have looked on the Commumity but nothing is there.
Thanks Alex for breaking down this sequence that seems to be quite complicated. You have a great way of explaining everything video after video. I really want to work on this one
Great video Alex just a question, I get the gist of shallowing but can you come to much from the inside causing to hit the ground before the ball and chunking it. Nice vid
I recently started doing this with my driver. My primary focus at the top of my swing is to close the club face as much as I have ever closed it. That really sets off a chain reaction where my body rotates through the shot way more. It’s a great feeling and my driving accuracy has increase dramatically. I am having one major problem though. When I do this with my irons, I am not hitting all of my irons off the bottom of the club. I am thinning all my shots. Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
I've had the same issue but in reverse. My irons and pitching was awesome for a beginner I was told.. But the issue was because I was lining up to my drive shots almost the same as I did the irons. Wrong!! I learned they are totally different movements/ swing patterns. Haha
Thanks Alex I always had a steep downswing and stood up at impact. When I tried to stay down I would chunk it.So thinking I had to turn more I instead started to spin out.All that did was give me lower back pain and I almost gave the game up.So I'm hoping your drill is the answer for me.
It might be a stupid question but why don't we just swing shallow in our backswing rather than swinging on a high plain then dropping the club? Can we not just swing back on shallow plain and down in the same plain?
Alex, I’m confused. When I shallow it as you demonstrate it feels really scary as it feels like the opposite of what you’ve been teaching me (blade tumbling over). Clubface comes down open initially. I know the blade has to tumble over late but it feels to me like my hands aren’t “fast enough”…Confused of Pike Fold 🙂
I swear Alex is following me around when I play golf because every time I watch his videos he is always talking about what I am struggling with in my swing 😂
3 of the last 4 rounds I played were a mess I couldn’t get my shit together, I kept singing worm burners , or just plain destroying the right side of the course. After watching this video and implementing in on the range, I was able to drive straight with a slight fade and getting yardage…something that is usually robbed from me due to a slice.Any way thanks, not perfect but definitely better!

Nice, effective content! Can’t wait to take this to the range tomorrow!! Thanks, mate!
A second look at this video was even more educational. Thanx, Alex.
I’ve watched dozens of shallowing drills in search of finding something that makes sense to me combined with proper feel. Awesome dude!!
thank you Aaron great to hear that this has clicked for you
It just clicked for me. Thank you!!!
I can’t thank you enough for this advice. This by far the easiest way to shallow the club. The feeling is really easy to repeat. Thanks again
Glad it helped! so happy to hear
One of the few best videos out there, thank you!
This explanation and related drill is really excellent! One of the best explanations I’ve ever heard on how to shallow the club. Bravo
excellent instruction, this has improved my swing bigly. thank you

Hello Oscar,
It’s great to hear that your good game is really improving
Absolutely love the content. No doubt its sending me down that UA-cam golf instruction rabbit hole. But great stuff, thanks 😊

I wish I’d seen this video earlier. I was at the range today trying to shallow the club ! Lol
This was the missing link to connect the transition to impact. I have not seen any other instructors teach it like how you explained it. Thank you

momentum of turning, maybe give this a to and let me know how you get on david?

thanks alex .. good stuff here .. a very positive way to work towards shallowing... Q?: can this go too far? and lose power by shallowing too much?
