- Kustom cruiser bike on air ride. It's a work in progress but most of the fabrication is finished. So far it's my most involved build. I'm waiting for my 4500psi tank to arrive so here it is on 110psi from my shop compressor.
I know this video is old, but I have to say, I'm very intrigued by the whole concept.
I built my 1st bike last year. It's long and low, with 36" apes.
I stick built the frame from thin wall steel tubing. Fabricated my rear suspension from donor bike parts and an old Burley drop shock off my Harley. The adjustable air ride you made is something I want to attempt on my next build.
Anyway.
Really Cool setup. Love it!!!!
This is by far one of the coolest frames i have seen yet. But is it just TOO low? What about your knees, do they never irritate you while you turn? I love low, but this.. :D insane ! XD love it!
Sick fab work keep on buildin bikes.
I agree, but I had to start somewhere, a custom fork could be down the road a way. I'm currently building a 'woody' style travel trailer but will likely get back to this project later this summer. Thanks for checking in, positive comments are always welcome!
Thanks Morten: If you read the other comments people either hate it or love it, I'm glad you're on my side. Is the bike too low? The highest point (handlebars) are the same height as a 26" bike tire. Is this as easy to ride as a cheap Walmart bike? No! Does it take skill and practice to ride? Yes. Like I posted before, it's a moving sculpture, it's Kustom, it's where style comes first, practicality comes a distant second. I have a number of 'regular' bikes to ride when I want. You don't downhill mountain bike on a beach cruiser, there's a time, place and bike for everyone. Don't be a hater, think outside the box and support the vision of others'. What I don't care for are standard low rider style bike where the pedals don't even go around without hitting the ground. Check out the video of me riding it, not as bad as you might think. Quickride . Or see my new toy, an electric drift trike, now that's a blast! Off Ramp Drifting
Very well done. No kit! :) do you still building such bikes? The creativity and passion for the details is a gift!!
The frame could not be pressurised enough to hold much air, that's why a carbon fibre tank will be used. There will likely always be some leak down so you need reserve air to not have to carry the bike home when it goes flat!
Thanks, I need to get the air system finished and paint the bike
You mean a switch to allow the air to flow? Yes, I got one from Clippard Industries. One of the problems I had was the air pressure bypassing the switch, I bought an adjustable regulator for the bottle but it still bypassed. I am considering going to a 12v linear actuator instead of air.
I really don't mean to be offensive... I promise! I should not have put it that way! I am sorry! I build a lot of stuff myself and I have goals when I do a build, and I'm sure you did too... I think stylistically we some differences. I can appreciate the mechanical aspect... I'm just a flowing lines kinda guy! I should take my own advice. My daughter saw a nice 4dr. 57' Chevy resto-mod the other day and said "that's ugly". I said but you have to appreciate it for what it is. Your taste or not!
Kyle: It's challenge to ride I agree, but it's supposed to be. What's the point of building something like you'd buy in a store, what's the point? It's meant to be a kinetic sculpture, an art form, not a Tour de France winner. For your knowledge I rode this bike 20km in the Bike For Your Life fundraiser a couple of years ago. Now go out and get some skills of yer own and have at 'er!!
No kit! Do your research, fab your parts, build your dream! Look on ebay
kool go to st geogre kustoms . good work
I never turn a TV on! I'm assuming that is over-used on that network?
What size cylinder are you using?nice bike man.
why not just pressurise the air inside the frame instead of fitting a tank? i mean once you've got it set to the height you want, you wouldn't be playing with it all the time, right? ;)
no i know what im going to use for a switch and regulator and all that, the actual air cylinder itself. what one are you using? brand? model number?
Would like to know where u got the air ride kit from
what are you using for any actuator. i am trying to find one but cannot
Yes... I can! Obviously! Sorry, again!
read the other comments, there is NO kit, you need to find your own parts. Try eBay for a start
do you sale them
Sorry, everything is custom one-off. Take a course, learn to weld and you too could build your own!
I am sure not trying to be rude..... it looks to work fine, but Dude... it's ugly as sin! Do some body work to smooth it up or something.
Soooo... you can be rude without even trying? Ugly as sin? You need to stop watching the ADD Network.
