@@UpsideLens I just bought this phone after 10 years with Samsung flagships, and first time from many years I fill like I got something more than always, and photographer kit is great , for nob like me that's another level of practicality and quality, probably all water from all rivers of this planet will flow away before I will fill bad with this grip haha, like I said im nob and Im happy. Btw I collect watches and I do many macro pictures to them with my s24Ultra and now after using X14U I cant believe what I see, distance between both phones in macro are astronomical. But I hate Xiaomi UI , it tries looks like IPkone to much which is pointless for android phones, it gives typical iPhone restrictions to screens haha, that why I use now One UI launcher and Im ok now.
I've got two words for you, beach huts! 🤣 Love using my X14U on the beach, get some real proper camera vibes from the shots especially when I've got a polarising filter on it.
Absolutely love your content! You have such a good screen presence and you also have some serious photography talent! Also really like how you cover the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in such detail and really push it to its limits. I really hope you will do the same for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra since that is the phone i am currently planning to buy. Im simply blown away that a phone camera can be in the same league as DSLRs, its a dream come true!
Thank you so much for the kind words mate ❤️ depending on the direction Xiaomi takes with their 15 Ultra I may get it, we'll have to wait and see 😅. Again thank you and am really glad you enjoyed my videos 😊 watch this space because there's a lot of more content on the way 🤙
You're one of the best "mobile" photographers I've seen on here, perhaps even the best. Would love to hear your opinion on the Vivo as I am very much in doubt between the X200 Pro or a Xiaomi. (But I'd understand if it doesn't fit your budget, of course)
Thank you, it really means a lot 🙏❤️ In regards to Vivo, unfortunately they don't sport snapdragon chipsets so in terms of video a lot of the features that mcpro24fps allows won't work with it. Also big megapixel sensors don't sit well with me (and yes I know Xiaomi may also go down that route, and if they did I would probably be reluctant in upgrading the 14 ultra) see the problem with big megapixel sensors is that you get smaller pixels and in turn worse lowlight. Yes the binning process is there to alleviate this but to an extent it will rely on Vivo's ISP which to me doesn't produce natural results on those sensors. Moreover, the reason they use big MP sensors is to be able to do sensor crops and that also doesn't sit well with me, at least on a telephoto lens due to all those "fake" focal lengths having the same depth of field. So in a nutshell, for average Joe, yes Vivo might be a good phone, completely agree BUT as a photographer the Xiaomi 14 ultra still sits at the top of best camera phones. Hope that answers your question 👍
@@UpsideLensI agree with most points and definitely see your perspective. I'm leaning towards the Xiaomi for some of the same reasons. Although I've been very surprised at how well the 200mp sensor has been performing for Vivo.
The major deciding factor for me is the lack of snapdragon chipset and the reason why I would never make the switch. I rely too much on third party apps for video and they are well optimised for snapdragon. Recording 4k60 in LOG using Sony colour space at 400mbps is just not an option on any Vivo phone. Also if I wanted to shoot raw video the Vivo phones just cannot do that. Again personally I rely a lot on the video aspect of the Xiaomi and will do so way more in the new year and Vivo just doesn't cut it for that.
@UpsideLens The Ultra line-up has Snapdragon chips. For example, the X200 Ultra will have the Snapdragon 8 Elite. I'm not really sure what you mean with raw video, but the Vivo X200 Pro shoots in 10-bit LOG @ 4K 60fps and seems to be the only Android phone to match the iPhone 16 Pro's quality in that aspect (which is a huge feat). The Vivo's video quality is the reason why I even consider Vivo, as I much prefer the photo output of the Xiaomi. (This is shot with 10-bit LOG and then colour graded. Obviously compressed because UA-cam, but impressive nonetheless: ua-cam.com/video/hKr-0Ep-7M4/v-deo.html)
@BlackParade01 the 14 ultra also "does" log 4K60 but at much lower bitrate. That's the one most important thing and downfall of both Vivo and Xiaomi's implementation. They just allow for low bitrates. When I say raw I mean raw video just like you would out of a RED camera.think raw photo but shot 60 times a second.
😂 you're about 8hrs late 😂 yes really enjoyed making this video, just to try and do things differently. The focus really was to keep things simple and I think it turned out ok 😊
I made a video a while ago about how I edit my photos with Lightroom Classic (not mobile) it was for the Xperia 1V but same principles apply to any photo really 👍
Both are good phones but I haven't personally used the X100Ultra as to me it has flaws I can't live with, like the lack of full variable aperture and a too high pixel count telephoto module, leading to worse lowlight shots (smaller pixels). I do find the Xiaomi 14ultra to be the best all rounder overall still to this day
Well that's the thing, it's all about compromises... To use the full stabilisation you have to use Xiaomi's app... But video quality sucks massively ! Sooooo that's why to make full use of the sensor I use mcpro24fps (LOG / ISP Bypass / 160mbps / Sony colour profiles...) BUT by doing so it only uses some rudimentary stabilization due to Xiaomi blocking full camera2api functionalities control to third parties... So unless I use a gimbal (which I do sometimes for cinematic shots) it just isn't an option for vlog shots. Hope it answers your question, there is logic in my madness 😉
@@UpsideLens I see. Did you try HyperOS 2.0 in terms of cameras. I think they improved the video quality there. At least I can get away with using it for my videos.
@lltechview haven't got hyperOS 2 yet (they roll it out in waves) BUT it still doesn't allow for over 80/100mbps high bitrate which is the most important part, or using different colour spaces. You also work against the ISP (aka processing).Short of using motion cam (which comes with a lot of caveats) mcpro24fps is the only way to get the best footage quality out of the 14 Ultra.
Hey brother how you doing and great video keep it up and actually am waiting for Xiaomi 15 ultra release and am thinking about to get one is it worth it to buy a Xiaomi flagship phones asking you as a Xiaomi user I just wanna make sure If they are great
Long answer short YES 😁 if they weren't good I would have picked something else 😉 now in regards to the 15ultra I'd hold fire on that one because if the rumours are true they might use a high megapixel count sensor for the telephoto lens which would be a downgrade compared to the 14 ! More pixels means smaller pixels meaning lower performance in low light. Yes the binning process is there for a reason BUT we're still looking at a downgrade and relying more on AI to sort things out (spoiler alert that is not the way to go !) there is also the issue of relying on sensor crops for the different focal lengths meaning same depth of field across the range which is far from ideal... I mean we'll have to see but in 2025 that is going to be a trend it would seem... Sadly!
@UpsideLens for example I have seen the the vivo x200 pro they downgrade the one inche sensor to the smaller one not like x100 pro last year which sad so I think all the bigger sensors and more cameras will be like exclusive for the ultra versions like Xiaomi and vivo and oppo and others but you saying they will downgrade the cameras on 15 ultra and I hope it's not true because rumours saying it's still on inch sensor with a 50mp main camera and Also with a new 200mp sensor so don't what's your thoughts on this but yeah I know every smartphone now days even the cheapest one using Ai Wich am ok with that but not for the cameras but sadly yeah they use it because it's cheaper doesn't cost more as a real mega pixels I guess.
@AhmadKarem-f8m that's exactly what I said above the telephoto sensor will have a much higher MP count which will be a downgrade. Yes the one inch type sensor remains but for telephoto shots that will be a downgrade especially in lowlight
No because most tech reviewers are not photographers they just see more pixels as a better thing but as photographers we know that more is not better ! Bigger pixels YES but more NO 😞
I've already answered this one, I don't use Xiaomi's own camera app (long story short, video gets way over processed) I use mcpro24fps which gives amazing video quality but very basic stabilisation and when I shoot in dark environment I'd rather have a shaky but perfect video quality than a stabilised pixel soup !
@marcosrossi9600 it does have stabilisation just basic, it's not their fault, Xiaomi (like many other manufacturers) do not allow third parties to use their libraries / camera2api. It sucks big time ! Like for example the variable aperture is only available within Xiaomi photo app, not other software developer can use it, it's a shame 😞
@marcosrossi9600 it does but then my nostrils end up being too much on show for my liking 😂 stabilisation usually crops in a bit too much depending on how much movement there is. Guys I would love to shoot via the first party app but the disgusting quality makes me feel sick, I just cannot stand the processing 🤮 I'd take the shakiness over the over sharpened pixelated mess lol
No they are identical camera wise, OS, storage (256GB & 1TB) and battery (5300mah) are the only differences afaik. Chinese variants are more prone to the fogging issue that keeps getting headlines from Xiaomi naysayers.
Xiaomi is the best!!
I mean there are a few good contenders this end of 2024 but as a whole package the Xiaomi is still the phone to beat 👌
The photography kit is the killer touch! 😁
If we omit the flawed camera grip yes the case and the ability to use filters is definitely a killer feature !

I also have the global version. They all have the same sensors and modules.
No they are identical camera wise, OS, storage (256GB & 1TB) and battery (5300mah) are the only differences afaik. Chinese variants are more prone to the fogging issue that keeps getting headlines from Xiaomi naysayers.
