    What a overwhelming response. I am one of the filmmaker who produced this short documentary as part of my college project. It was indeed a great experience.

    What a wonderful way of life, I’ve been Buddhist in the U.K. for 15 years and I can’t express enough the contentment it has brought to my life , and the wonderful friends I have met. Buddhism has a lot of inherent beauty. Thank you for this documentary, as it highlights the importance of “Sangha” spiritua friendships, the love and respect these friends in the video have for one another is beautiful to see.

      Lisa, you will fall in love with this place. It's in the city of Dharamshala in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. There are many tibetans and foreigners who observe Buddhism in numerous monasteries.

    Are they from Tibet?

    • @Bzdm0
      @Bzdm0 3 роки тому +3

      The monastery is in Dharamshala so the majority of the monks are Tibetan but there are also monks from the Himanyalan region of India who share similar culture and customs with Tibetans.

      @@Bzdm0 Most monks in Tibetan monasteries are Himalayan people from India, Nepal and Bhutan. Of course sizeable number of them are Tibetan. Tibetan monks are decreasing for last 10 years or so as China has strict control in Tibet since 2008 Beijing Olympic.
      Before 2008 around 2500 Tibetan used to come to India some of them for study others for pilgrimage and many join monasteries to study Buddhism. Pilgrims return back but student and monks stay here. There are many who have not met their parent for more than 20 years.
      In 2021 only 5 and zero in 2022.
      Strict border control and non issuance of passport to Tibetan since 2012.

      @@gyadre Thank you for this info. I'm only aware that Chinese authorities have been repressing Buddhist monks and nuns in cruel ways...not unlike their treatment of ethnic Muslims. It's depressing for anyone who loves peace & freedom.

    The 3 boys have been pushed into this by their parents at a very young age. They haven't accepted monkhood by heart. They don't know what self realization is, just bookish knowledge i guess. This is bad for them and for other monks (real)as well.

      Thanks a lot for commenting and showing your concern .I know these 3 boys and they have just started studying Buddhism.Yes they were monks before but their real education started just now.Infact during the time of shooting this video they were in their 2nd year.If they aren't satisfied with their studies after studying for some years they are both free to leave anytime.

      The Tibetan monastery for last 20 years so has changed it curriculum a lot. In addition to Buddhist Philosophy subjects, they study all other regular subjects such as science, Maths, have to appear the same board exams as any Tom, Dick or Harry would study in any school. They can leave the monastery if they are not able to keep their vows.
      This particular school Buddhist school of Dialectic at Dharamsala was started to train Tibetan language and literature in addition to Buddhist philosophy. It is not a fullfledged monastery in the sense that if they want to pursue core Buddhist Philosophy then they have to join 3 principal monastic universities in South India. Many of the students here are not monks and even many are women, quite a few from the West and Asian countries such as Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam and of course from India and Nepal.
