Hey bro, sorry for my english (i'm dumb), i was watching your video and then i decided to play a bit of the game, but my game is BROKEN I don't know why, but these things are going on: - I can't finish Bedman? arcade because when another match is going do start (any match after Baiken match) it ocurrs an error saying that my console don't have enough memory (?), something like that. And then the game closes suddendly. - I have Bridget and Sin unlocked, BUT I DID NOT BOUGHT THE DLC. It's insane bro, i can play with the characters normally, wtf. - I have colors that i did not bought too (from 7 up to 12) for Bridget, Sin and Asuka (i have asuka unlocked, but i never did paid any color for him or the other characters). - I also have two more stages that i did not paid too (Fairy's Forest Factory, Tír na nÓg). Bro... I'm just saying this to you to ask if you know how i can enter in contact with the staff or something like that, or if there is an way to fix this problem. This shit is insane, man. I'm scared of deleting the game to install again and new problems showing up.
Interesting video, however I feel my soul died when you presented War Thunder >•> I started playing Guilty Gear somewhat recently. I am more of an intuitive person rather than a cerebral one. I don't know anything about GG universe, but I ended up liking Dizzy. She reminds me if my inner child, so I said yep, that's gonna be my main. Slowly learning her, but... Am not those kinds to request buffs or nerfs to characters. Am good with how she is. I started with I-No, cause witchy looks, but lost interest, moved to Testament, I said "Damn, this character has style". Then I moved to Dizzy and I feel they are gonna be the main. As secondary, most likely Asuka, cause I love complexity.
Only reason I'm not in this comment is because Elphelt also exists. Bridget was the big draw, but I suck at fighting games, so held off. But then I watched all of El's arcade mode and was like, yep, gotta get this game now. Completely surprised by how much I like her. (Helps that Nago as the straight man to her goofball is such a fantastic pairing.)
Here's my advice: Don't stress yourself out about finding a main when first starting out. If you're just playing casually there's no stress trying to pick that character immediately, having a main is necesary to improve once you want to do that, but if you just want to get the grip of things and dunno who to pick just pick whoever you want and eventually somebody will click naturally. Several times I've found a main in a game that I didn't even decide "Aight, imma main them", I just enjoyed them at first and they naturally clicked in that position.
With how steep (the sometimes imagined) learning curve is with fighting games, the character crisis tends to be a form of procrastination and ego-defense. It's easier to loop around trying to find the right fit for you in a main, than to face the looming threat of defeat and the inevitable hours in the lab afterwards. From what I've seen, the crisis is a predominantly beginner issue and tends to occur at the level where they do not have a grasp on the system mechanics. It's like trying to learn how to ride a bike, before ever trying to hop onto a saddle. Or I guess postponing the process of learning until they have found the perfect bike to ride on.
Strive's mission mode is great when trying to learn the game mechanics and learning the cast's quirks and features (I saw that happy chaos chair spin gif and THAT'S why i main him. I wanted to be kidding about this.)
I main him because of his interesting archetype. on character select, they have archetypes listed for each character (zoner, power, rushdown, balanced, unique). happy chaos goes in close sometimes with good combos, but doesn't lack range options either. he doesn't have particularly high damage, and he certainly isn't a jack of all traits. so you would think they would put him in the unique category. no. he gets his own category to himself. Happy chaos's archetype is shooting.
I think one of the reasons I main Sol is because I saw that clip of Daisuke saying "Gunflame!" During a convention and that got my into that character's ethos
What i did for picking up Potemkin as my main: first got strive, which is my first real fighting game, and then messed around for 1 to 2 days in training mode and with my friend. After playing half the cast and playing one match with pot, i knew he was the one. Then i looked up an in depth guide for him (1 hour and 16 minutes, thanks roofelmonger) and played around in training mode for about 3 to 4 hours while following the guide and trying out new things. Here i am 9 months later doing kara cancels and watching top level players to find new combos for different situations. Man fighting games are fun.
"you're not gonna die because you switched off your main for 1 or 2 matches." Tell that to the Potemkin that rocked my shit 3 games in a row when I tried to pick up May.
Every fighting game gives me an immediate character crisis cause I'm one of those weirdos that likes most archetypes, Zoner, Rushdown, Grappler I've played them all. Picking a character is usually one of the hardest parts for me.
3:30 this is why I’m so thankful Bridget is possibly one of the best characters for new players, and still holds together at high level. I went from loving her character, to loving both her gameplay and character.
"Still holds up at high level" Apparently you don't know Bridget is the literal worst character with the worst win/loss ratio across the top 100 players.
I literally bought Guilty Gear because i just loved playing Bridget. Thankfully I like the whole game too! Now that I've gotten better I'vev been experimenting with Axl and I-no
It's usually immediately obvious to me who I am going to like. Big? Armored? Vaguely comedic? Winner. Potemkin, Tager, Big Band, Goldlewis, it helps to have a type of character you connect with. In my opinion, whoever you think looks the coolest is the best place to start. Your enthusiasm will carry you until you figure out if it isn't for you.
Hot take I understand not wanting to feel carried But a good character doesn't stop a bad player being bad You still have to put in a lot of work no matter who you play, and if anything higher end characters tend to get matched against other high end characters, especially mirrors
when i started 6 months ago (this is my first fighting game) i mained djeeta, then BOOM im mainly using avatar belial now, still learning but hey they're pretty similar but more masochistic. -has a fireball/projectile -rekka -DP 😂🎉
8:17 this part hit me hard. I’ve been playing granblue recently and absolutely love Seox but felt bad playing him because he’s so strong and have been going back and forth in the roster ever since trying to figure out who to play when I should’ve just played who I wanted to play (‘:
I picked up fighting games with Strive because I liked Anji's theme and ended up getting an even cooler character in the process. His combos were pretty easy to get down, but that spin threw me through a loop. I loved the challenge of it! Now I'm taking some downtime and playing some simpler characters, like Elphelt and Sin. Maybe I'll pick up Ram so that I can make the Birthday Train trio when 3v3 comes out
Sometimes, first impressions matters. When I started playing GGST (my first FG) I started with Gio, because she looks cool and easy, but as I began to play regularly, I told myself "she'll quickly be redundant", so I picked I-no, absolutely hated her hoverdash, and swapped to Anji. I learned a lot playing Anji, I like his gameplay, but I didn't get the same feeling as some other characters, like I wasn't that comfortable in calling myself an Anji main despite loving the gameplay, because I wasn't that fond of the character itself. So after a long break, I picked Jack-O because I love her design, personnality, and near limitless possibilities. But I'm not great with hard characters, and even while loving her gameplay, having the best step up of overall knowledge of the game, etc... I still had this hunch that it wasn't right. And guess what, I came back to Giovanna. And God do I love her. And even after all that, I still had fun with Anji and Jack-O, and I learned a lot of things with them I probably wouldn't have if I never dropped Gio, so don't be afraid if you struggle to find a main quickly, it's never lost if you're learning/having fun !
This was me with Guile when I started SF2. The dumb hair, me liking charge motions and footsies, didn't have a absurd number of different moves to remember, everything pretty much just connected then and there. My nephew decided to pick Zangief which was a bit odd to me since he was new, but then he game 1 figured out how to consistently do the full circle motion grapples so I didn't say anything after that lmao.
Gotta say, I started playing Strive as my first real fighting game, I KNEW the moment I saw him, Axl looked and felt for me. I am one of those rare cases of I find main and more I play them I just keep liking them more and more. All from lore to character type to voice acting (Octo is fucking awesome) to what they actually stand for (you know, war crimes, I am doing war crimes and loving it).
i went from axl (i was new to fighting and i had problem with charged moves) then to baiken then to my beloved bedman (explosion, surprises and unlimited oki)
My strategy that I've used since SF:3S is just: Looking at the roster, then picking whoever looks the coolest to me. It's worked out great so far, playing Twelve in my first fighter, to Noob Saibot, Nagoriyuki and now Avatar/Belial. It's always such a blast seeing someone decide on their main, it says a lot about them and in reality is usually a very deep rooted choice :)
My introduction to fighting games was learning how to play Voldo in SC6 despite being told he's among the most complex characters to pick up for a beginner. His animations and movements were just so rad. Turns out I dig a trial by fire if the character jives with me, because every single game I end up gravitating to whoever has some cryptic ass mechanics or weird execution. Strange gameplans are what screw me up when I'm starting out. Voldo may have 4 or 5 stances with various moves putting you in or out of them, but his basic idea of FS = pokes and whiff punishes, BS = better, stubby buttons, and MC = mixups was easy to grasp despite the surrounding complexity. Compare that to Yuzu in UNI, and I had a lot more trouble figuring out *how* to play until I figured out how to boil her down a bit, despite happily getting used to her mechanical side.
I recently picked up Strive, with my only other fighting game adjacent experiences being an unhealthy amount of smash ultimate and goofing around in Skullgirls Mobile. I immediately gravitated towards Ram because she looked cool and when I saw the puppy on the win screen I knew she was who I was gojng to main. I've had a lot of fun over this first week and have began experimenting with Baiken aswell and thats been a lot of fun too, so I'm probably gonna stick with those two. Great video btw
After a while, you kinda get a sense of what you like. Typically, I like grinding setups and combos so most of my characters tend to be gimmicky setplay characters or zoners. Like in strive I use Jack o and Bridget, sf6 I use Kimberly, idol showdown I use sora. Which is why in gbvr I use Nier. Its's almost like I'm playing Jack o in another game 😂
this is why I really love asuka r kreutz from ggs. you are quite literally fighting your character more than you're fighting your opponent and that's how you win.
Never played a proper fighting game before. Got Strive after being bugged into it by a friend, and the moment I saw Faust I knew that I must use him until the day I die. I have not, and will not regret this decision.
When I played My Hero Ones Justice 2, being able to play as Stain really hooked me because he was my favorite character in the series. Being able to play as him and my other favorite characters made the game a lot more fun. It made learning feel a lot more rewarding.
This is a great video. I've recently gotten quite into Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and I really want to play A.B.A. I love her design, her voice, and her personality a lot. The problem is she doesn't really play how I really like and I find her too complicated. Although I'd love to try her later when I can actually do a GG input, for now I'm sticking with Sol, May, and Jam and I keep experimenting until I find a character I like. Although I'd like to find a main, I'm just gonna keep trying things out until I find something.
I have this problem with baiken, i love her and is kinda easy to learn some of her moves, but I just can't manage to do her force breaks even on training mode, I tried changing to anji who I find similar to her and I can actually manage to do his force breaks most of the time, but is just not her, and then I tried slayer, really easy character to learn for me even tho i'm barely starting to learn fighting games, so for now i'm sticking with him until I feel confident enough to return to Baiken and become good enough or at least try to be as good as whooocash is when using her
Character loyalty is real as fuck lmao. I recently realized I have a lot more fun with Sin than Gio in Strive, and I feel really sad leaving Gio in second place. You really grow attached to a character when you play them for almost 90 hours, it's so hard to let go.
I remember falling in love with Dizzy from Guilty Gear, but being completely unable to handle her. I played Ky because he was easy. Then, I played Jam and got really familiar with how the game worked (even though every character is a world apart) and was not intimidated by speed eventually. Then it was Millia, for a bit, and then back to Jam (I was able to do brutal combos now!) Once I got confident enough, I got back to Dizzy and, slowly, learned how to handle her. I was destroying everyone with her in a matter of days. It was her mojo that kept me trying and the experience I gained that let me try again. Sometimes you like a character's design so much you want to make them do cool stuff. So, yeah. ❤ Every character has a specialty and sometimes there are transitory characters that show you the way...
Reasons I Chose Happy Chaos as My Main in GGS: 1: He's my favorite character, and he's a GOATED character 2: Despite his HUGE learning curve, he's HELLA fun to play, and learning him is S A T I S F Y I N G 3: He allows me to be the most annoying mfer in the game (Trust me when I say that I have, in fact, gotten more than one opponent to rage quit XD) 4: He's a "Think or DIE" character, much like Spy from TF2, if you're playing him with your brain off, it doesn't matter WHAT you're doing, you gonna lose. So keep your brain on, and think fast, yet smart
I jumped around for so long, buying dlc characters and whatnot and never quite settling in. All for my friend to tell me to try Ramlethal randomly and I realized I’d somehow constantly overlooked her and become a Ram main almost immediately
When trying to find a main, I have a 5-Step process: 1) What kind of game am I playing? 2D Grounded, 2D Anime, Platform Fighter, Team Fighter? Because I will often have different preferences for each. 2) Who aesthetically appeals to me? As you stated, we're be looking & hearing this character for awhile, might as well enjoy it. 3) Does their gameplay appeal to me? Easily the most important factor. 4) Is this character in my skill range? If a character is too simple, they'll often not appeal to me. Conversely, if a character is too difficult, I'll try to work up to them. 5) Does it feel good to win with them? Easily the most subjective, but I want too feel like I earned my victory in a fight, or achieved a personal victory with them even If I don't end up winning the match. My Mains: - Phoenix Wright in UMVC3 alongside Amaterasu & Sentinel. Win or lose, if I make it to Turnabout Mode, I won in my heart. My assists aim to help achieve that goal while being backup plans in my skill range. - Manon in SFVI: if I get to 5 Medals, I feel I've won. It feels good to KO someone with Manège Doré. - Isabelle in Smash Ultimate: It feels good to take stocks with Fishing Rod, Gyroid Rocket, and Back-Air Slingshot.
Earlier this year, I had a character crisis in Strive. When the game just came out, my first main was Ky. I liked his design and his gameplay. He's extremely easy to play, his combos are simple and intuitive, his damage is high, and he has options for every situation. I was a beginner in Guilty Gear, since Strive is my first serious dive into the series (I played a bit of the previous games when I was a kid, but it was never hardcore), so he was perfect for me. Plus, I don't like very technical and execution-heavy characters in general. However, playing a lot of him ended up being very boring for me, just as it was with SF6 Ken for Gekko here. I still like to play him, but now I only occasionally do that in casual sets against my friend. My second main was Bridget. I liked her for... the wrong reasons, but her gameplay was interesting and fun too. However, she ended up being not for me. Too much risk and execution for not enough reward. Even though I got into Celestial with her many times, at some point I just stopped having fun with the character. It was just pure sweat, and when I play like that, I get tilted easily when I lose. So, I was kinda stuck. Then, just as I was about to almost drop the game, Johnny came out and dragged me back into it. I'll never have a character crisis again. This character is just too good. Ever since the game came out, he was my most expected DLC character because I really like his looks and personality. I like characters who are like that in any fighting game and, if there are any, I tend to pick them as my mains. Johnny Cage is my favorite MK character, for example. I mained him in MK11, and would've mained him in MK1, if I had bought the game. So, when ArcSys announced Johnny at EVO this year, I was ecstatic. After hearing about what he was like in Xrd, I was a bit afraid he'd be too execution-heavy and complicated in Strive, but I was determined to overcome that. I didn't have to. He ended up being just perfect for me. I've been playing him non-stop for almost four months already, and I'm still having so much fun.
not gonna lie 2 types of characters that i specialize the most are: safety-abandon berserker type characters and counter heavy characters both of those being ones i have a hard time finding- what i mean by those two exactly? well with safety-abandon berserkers i am taking about aggressive characters with a lot of super-armor moves that just constantly keep attacking even when they get hurt; for most moves there is no stun lock from being hit, they'll get hit but they'll just keep hitting and with counter heavy... those are a lot more rare, to the point i can't really find any clear example-counter-heavy characters are characters that well.. rely on counter-attacking the enemy; whenever the enemy attacks you have the chance to punish them, basically. their moveset relies almost entirely on counter-attacks, deflection and parries, no pressure, no defense; just counter-attack, the game. and i can't really find that in a proper fighting game sadly-2-3 rpg's but that's about all the luck i had; if you have any suggestions feel free to tell me; the only good example i found is Raiden from Metal Gear Rising, but that is a single player game-
Hakumen from Blazblue fits the second type. I should point out that parry type characters still need to do footsies and pressure etc and the fear of the parry is as important, if not more, than the parry itself similar to grapplers with command grabs.
@@sahkovalo the idea is more so an entire moveset designed for parrying rather than a certain move; or if not that then a whole mechanic attached to various moves
@@sahkovalo i also tend to prefer the moves being able to flow into each other, giving one the ability to turn a light combo into a light-heavy one or a light-special one at any time, or mixing in light, heavy and special, or a special into a heavy, you get the point; essentially a majority of the moves being able to combo into each other
I like to play simple characters, I quite enjoy seeing people do fancy ass combos with 50/50's, cross ups, resets and a bunch of other stuff, but I'm over here thinking that I only need to hug you once.
My way of choosing a main is simple, find someone who looks appealing, try their moveset and lab with it, if the character doesn't feel like you can manage it as a non-competitive fighting game character then try another one. I myself thought i could use Nagoriyuki as a competitive character only to get folded multiple times, now as baiken i am a 10F player that understands how every matchup works with her
i used to be a happy chaos main in ggst but i got so bored of just stomping ppl that i couldn’t play him anymore. and i loved almost everything else about him
How I found my GG Strive main: I had never played a GG game before, and knew nothing about the roster. So a Discord friend told me to listen to the OST and pick my main based on who had the best character theme. One soundtrack dive later, and I've been maining Potemkin ever since.
The reason I became a Chun Li player is because I got bopped by a Chun on 3rd Strike, went into training mode and went, "Damn this 2MK goes real far" and thats how 7 years down the line I have Chun Li artwork on my fightstick and have her as my laptop wallpaper.
The only time I had a true "Im fully committed to this character" moment was Neo in BBTAG not only is she my favorite character from RWBY (at least villain character) her fast paced playstyle kept wanting more, only reason I dont play the game is well....I got it on switch. No one plays on there so I just kinda moved on.
8:15 (rant about people not playing characters because too strong) - Okay, but I mained Raven in Xrd, then I saw a whole-ass documentary about how he was an obnoxious character to play against who had fans up in arms, and then I saw a similar thing about Happy Chaos and I thought... damn he looks fun to play though The thing is that when I play games, I like to win, but I don't want that to be at the cost of my opponent's good time. I'm willing to reduce my winrate a bit if the net quantity of _fun_ is increased across both players. This helps me differentiate myself from my younger brother, who mains Ice Climbers in Melee
The weird thing with me is I love command grabs but the only archetype i can't play, are slow grablers I like it very much when my non grabler character has a command grab or is a fast grabler
@@MythicMachina now that you say that There are a small number of characters with combo grabs But I can't think of a real modern Combo grabler that's really interesting
my mains: GGST: Bedman? (baiken or testament) Tekken7: josie (or steve or dragonov or fahkumram) DNF duel: launcher street fighter 5: juri (or birdie) skullgirls: fukua, parasoul tekken tag 2; asuka and jun kazama DBFZ: Z brolly , android 16 and base goku Super smash ultamite: king k rool (or ganondorf or donkey kong) if i get the game tekken 8: reina or asuka street fighter 6: juri or marisa or manon GBVR: vira or charlotta or ferry or soriz or calgaliostro or nier blazblue: bullet tell me yours its ok if u dont play much fighting game ,i dipped my toes on most of them but the top 3 i played the most
The problem with me for picking someone who is high in the tier list is it feels bad when I do win, because I don't know if I won because I was actually good, or if my character was just a better character than my opponent
For me, it's more of the social stigma to it. My personality says that I don't care what they think, but my anxiety does. If I ever get into Street Fighter 6, I REALLY wanna main JP becuase he just looks so fucking cool dude. Ever since hos trailer i've wanted to main him. But turns out he's top 1 and everyone fucking hates him. It's also hard for me becuase most of the characters i have interest in are usually low to mid tier. K Rool in Smash and Faust in Strive. So having the character i'm interested in actually be super good is just foreign to me.
Legit just find someone that looks cool. When you learn them, if they feel weird when controlling them, or are literally uncomfortable, pick the 2nd coolest character.
Literally my brother when we got guilty gear strive, he started maiming Zato because of how he looked like. I chose Ramlethal before we got DLC I started maining Testament and he chose Potemkin.
I still remember how I ended up being a Robo-Fortune main in Skullgirls. Picked up because I have a love for cats and robots, stayed because she can do some really fun stuff all around. Bonus is that she also has some nice color references that make me use more than one or two (though Gravity Suit Samus is still a big go to) Either way finding a main in a fighting game is always a fun experience for me. There's a sense of wonder just toying with those characters and once you find the one it just clicks yo.
to be honest, i am one of the people that got into strive because of one character; that being baiken. something about the combo routes, instant overhead, tether mechanic and supers just kinda sold me and i havent played any other character after picking up the game. there are other two HUGE reasons why i play her but i dont think i need to elaborate.
I learnt my characters key moves, general neutral, game plan, pressure, VERY noob combos. None of it mattered, everyone just knowledge checks me and cheeses out rounds the moment I start getting momentum...
Another way to pick a main that I wanted to list is liking the voice actor for the character. I've been maining Luke in Street Fighter 6 solely because of how much Aleks Le adds to his character by being a goofball online through voicing memes and making his own memes. It made me like the character way more, and I've mained him since the game launched.
My problem is that whenever I switch off my main character it feels like I cant do anything. I dont know the neutral tools or combos so it just ends up feeling unplayable. So I end up never trying out different characters
I picked I-no in GG:S because she has a guitar. I picked Dee Jay in SF6 because he literally just vibes. Stick a music-focus on a character and I am *instantly* interested.
When I was introducing my friend to ggst, I thought him to mark 3-5 characters they find interesting in design because why do you play the character if you dont like the whole design. I told him not to care about difficulty. Just to pick 3-5 characters. After that, I thought him everything unique with the character. I dont remember what exactly he picked but I remember explaining zato and why is he really hard and he dropped him after telling him about the puppet mechanics. Then we got into the training mode and started doing basic atks, air atks, and so on, then specials and supers. Then he tries to do a combo, doesnt matter how shiny it isx it just needs to be a combo. Then, after that, I tell him noob friendly optimal combos, I know. We did this for all 5 characters, and he chose to play with anji, and to this date, he still mains with him.
Whenever I start a new fighting game, I just pick any character purely based on looks/vibe. Then I discover their moveset and playstyle. After spending a couple hours with that character I don't feel like switching mains and just stick to them. For example my mains in different games are: Mk11: Joker - a midrange setup character. Mk1: Johnny - rushdown mixup character. Sf6: Cammy - goddess of footsies. GGST: Testament - full on zoner. And now GBVR: Katalina - basic ass shoto.
How I decide my main in Fighting games is... - go to training room, arcade, story or whatever "safe" environment the game has. - start picking characters and just mash buttons to see what characters I jell with at least at a first impression level - pick my favorite among these as my first main. - over time I play other characters cause I don't like doing the same thing over and over. I switch up characters after some rounds cause I get bored. - this leads into potentially switching mains as I find either more fun or more success in another character. This is what happened in Strive. I picked up Ram at the start cause waifu, big strong buttons, and among the base roster she was my favorite. But she dropped to secondary once I started playing Testament who I perform much better with. In GBVS I am deciding between Vira and Cagliostro rn. Both are really fun and I will definitely play both but it remains to be seen which one I'll end up playing more. Characters/things I avoid: - grapplers. Don't like em - big slow characters. Not a deal breaker. I like Nogoriyuki. But I often stand clear from them. - complex buttons/motions/combos/other mechanics. I strong reason I switched to Test in Strive is the fact she is the ONLY character that doesn't a half circle input. I can handle charge motions, quarter and DP, but I hate half circles and dread full circles. I also suck at combos so any way I can circumvent that even a little and that's good. So basically I gravitate to big normals and zoners. Tho rushdown isn't off the table.
For me personally: When it comes to picking stronger characters vs weaker characters, I’m not too concerned. If I really like the character, I’ll get good enough to win just as much.
The first non-smash fighting game i played was bbtag because id just played persona 4 and wanted to try out narukami. I am now stuck with the white bread character archetype and am very very happy with it. I main Ky, Katalina, Jin and Marth. I definitely have a type: pretty sword character
I mean I got Guilty Gear Strive on launch bc I was absolutely ENAMORED with Ramlethal, and now I play Baiken and Elphelt. I had to learn to love a character's design, but play someone else bc their moveset vibes with me more
i agree w/ everything buuut personally i play weaker characters because i like it when me and the boys ALL have fun instead of me just mowing them down with happy chaos
Before I even bought "Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising" I KNEW I was gonna main Zeta - she just fitted my playstyle perfectly. Now, I've used all the characters and Zeta was indeed really fun... But Zooey just spoke to me and became my main - which surprised even me, since generally I don't gravitate towards characters like her (for example, with additional meter to manage). By the way... The game itself is OUTSTANDING.
I'm pretty new to fighting games, I starded with strive and when i saw I-NO i instantly feel in love with the design, and it happent that her gameplay it was perfect for the reckless unga bunga in your face type of play that I have, even if she is a little hard and not a high tier right now i still enjoy play with her.
As soon as I first got the game, I immediately picked Nago because I liked how he looked. I then decided to play him a bit and immediately fell in love with his gameplay too (I like characters with long swords that can hit across the stage). I tried out Sin when I got the season 2 pass and liked him too (he talks a lot about eating food and I love food) so now I largely play Nago and Sin. I'll have to figure out which one of them is going to be my true main though.

Hey bro, sorry for my english (i'm dumb), i was watching your video and then i decided to play a bit of the game, but my game is BROKEN
I don't know why, but these things are going on:
- I can't finish Bedman? arcade because when another match is going do start (any match after Baiken match) it ocurrs an error saying that my console don't have enough memory (?), something like that. And then the game closes suddendly.
- I have Bridget and Sin unlocked, BUT I DID NOT BOUGHT THE DLC. It's insane bro, i can play with the characters normally, wtf.

Interesting video, however I feel my soul died when you presented War Thunder >•>
I started playing Guilty Gear somewhat recently. As secondary, most likely Asuka, cause I love complexity.
character loyalty is real because if you play your main enough they'll become real and have lunch with you
As a Faust Main... I god hope that happens, would love to have lunch with the 9'3 doctor soon

My criteria for a main character:
First name must be Sol
Last name must be Badguy

Yes
1. Must be Sol’s girlfriend
2.Must be named after a Jack-o-lantern
Must be on the game's cover, thumbnail, library icon, and storepage
Here's my advice: Don't stress yourself out about finding a main when first starting out. If you're just playing casually there's no stress trying to pick that character immediately, having a main is necesary to improve once you want to do that, but if you just want to get the grip of things and dunno who to pick just pick whoever you want and eventually somebody will click naturally. Several times I've found a main in a game that I didn't even decide "Aight, imma main them", I just enjoyed them at first and they naturally clicked in that position.
Yep,you’re going on the touching list
@@bloodredrain the What list?
Strive's mission mode is great when trying to learn the game mechanics and learning the cast's quirks and features
(I saw that happy chaos chair spin gif and THAT'S why i main him. I wanted to be kidding about this.)
Same but also his theme
I main him because he's got a gun, how am I gonna pass that up?
I main him because of his interesting archetype. on character select, they have archetypes listed for each character (zoner, power, rushdown, balanced, unique). happy chaos goes in close sometimes with good combos, but doesn't lack range options either. he doesn't have particularly high damage, and he certainly isn't a jack of all traits. so you would think they would put him in the unique category. no. he gets his own category to himself.
Happy chaos's archetype is shooting.
i mean he is cool but also banned in a lot of tournaments due to his strength i heard
I main Nagoriyuki for one simple reason: We share the same birthday and I like sword characters.

Me: Systematically picking some of the hardest character.
Every fighting game gives me an immediate character crisis cause I'm one of those weirdos that likes most archetypes, Zoner, Rushdown, Grappler I've played them all. Picking a character is usually one of the hardest parts for me.
I feel this so much. In so many games, my top two end up being characters that are completely different, like grapplers and zoners.

I understand not wanting to feel carried

I picked anre because they looked funny. That's it, doesn't get any deeper.
I picked narmaya solely because she's cool, first stance character I've played but we'll get their, eventually

Good Point, However...
Potemkin does indeed need a buff
Anji's whole style is what made me main him. The guy is a big muscular traditional dancer that just spins around his opponents. I fucking love that
The solution is to pick Giovanna because she's adorable and never switch!
8:17 this part hit me hard. I’ve been playing granblue recently and absolutely love Seox but felt bad playing him because he’s so strong and have been going back and forth in the roster ever since trying to figure out who to play when I should’ve just played who I wanted to play (‘:
Play seox then, hes cool who cares if hes strong
Same but for lee in tekken and narmaya in granblue. I also like jamie a lot as well
The Chicken dinner joke caught me off guard cause I was actively eating fried chicken during my work lunch break.
Great video btw
my issue is i end up liking most of the casts as i like all archetypes so sticking to one is the hardest thing for me
I always enjoy rushdowns the most. Then I saw BIG CHUNGUS POTEMKIN and was just forced to main him
After a while, you kinda get a sense of what you like.
I have not, and will not regret this decision.
my first fg was strive, i legit just tried ky at first for reasons I don't remember, ever since that day i main nothing but shotos

I have this problem with baiken, i love her and is kinda easy to learn some of her moves, but I just can't manage to do her force breaks even on training mode, I tried changing to anji who I find similar to her and I can actually manage to do his force breaks most of the time, but is just not her, and then I tried slayer, really easy character to learn for me even tho i'm barely starting to learn fighting games, so for now i'm sticking with him until I feel confident enough to return to Baiken and become good enough or at least try to be as good as whooocash is when using her
@@straydude7681 Cool. Baiken does sound pretty interesting, I just didn't want to try her since I hate how she screams.

Reasons I Chose Happy Chaos as My Main in GGS:
1: He's my favorite character, and he's a GOATED character
2: Despite his HUGE learning curve, he's HELLA fun to play, and learning him is S A T I S F Y I N G
3: He allows me to be the most annoying mfer in the game (Trust me when I say that I have, in fact, gotten more than one opponent to rage quit XD)
4: He's a "Think or DIE" character, much like Spy from TF2, if you're playing him with your brain off, it doesn't matter WHAT you're doing, you gonna lose. So keep your brain on, and think fast, yet smart
I jumped around for so long, buying dlc characters and whatnot and never quite settling in.

5:54 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
0:05 Does anyone know the name of the song in the start of the video? I cant find it
When trying to find a main, I have a 5-Step process:
1) What kind of game am I playing?
My Mains:
- Phoenix Wright in UMVC3 alongside Amaterasu & Sentinel.
6:01 is so real cause I picked up Lucina in SSBU and legit went and played 4 Fire Emblem games.
not gonna lie 2 types of characters that i specialize the most are:
safety-abandon berserker type characters
and counter heavy characters
both of those being ones i have a hard time finding-
what i mean by those two exactly? well with safety-abandon berserkers i am taking about aggressive characters with a lot of super-armor moves that just constantly keep attacking even when they get hurt; for most moves there is no stun lock from being hit, they'll get hit but they'll just keep hitting
and with counter heavy... those are a lot more rare, to the point i can't really find any clear example-counter-heavy characters are characters that well.. rely on counter-attacking the enemy; whenever the enemy attacks you have the chance to punish them, basically. their moveset relies almost entirely on counter-attacks, deflection and parries, no pressure, no defense; just counter-attack, the game. and i can't really find that in a proper fighting game sadly-2-3 rpg's but that's about all the luck i had; if you have any suggestions feel free to tell me; the only good example i found is Raiden from Metal Gear Rising, but that is a single player game-
Hakumen from Blazblue fits the second type.
@@sahkovalo i also tend to prefer the moves being able to flow into each other, giving one the ability to turn a light combo into a light-heavy one or a light-special one at any time, or mixing in light, heavy and special, or a special into a heavy, you get the point; essentially a majority of the moves being able to combo into each other
I love Johnny, I will never not love Johnny. But the addition of Elphelt to strive made me play her in order to understand how to counter it.
6:02 yea, I definitely didn't do that...
Jack-O. Tbh, it's working out alright
I like to play simple characters, I quite enjoy seeing people do fancy ass combos with 50/50's, cross ups, resets and a bunch of other stuff, but I'm over here thinking that I only need to hug you once.
7:03 Just letting you know there's no thumbnail for the archetypes video you're referring to here.

How I found my GG Strive main: I had never played a GG game before, and knew nothing about the roster. So a Discord friend told me to listen to the OST and pick my main based on who had the best character theme.
One soundtrack dive later, and I've been maining Potemkin ever since.
5:50 2b just got announced as a character in Rising and I will be buying the game purely to play her
The reason I became a Chun Li player is because I got bopped by a Chun on 3rd Strike, went into training mode and went, "Damn this 2MK goes real far" and thats how 7 years down the line I have Chun Li artwork on my fightstick and have her as my laptop wallpaper.
I swear "I like his jacket" must be a valid reason to pick a Kof character.
8:15 (rant about people not playing characters because too strong) - Okay, but I mained Raven in Xrd, then I saw a whole-ass documentary about how he was an obnoxious character to play against who had fans up in arms, and then I saw a similar thing about Happy Chaos and I thought... damn he looks fun to play though
The thing is that when I play games, I like to win, but I don't want that to be at the cost of my opponent's good time. I'm willing to reduce my winrate a bit if the net quantity of _fun_ is increased across both players.
This helps me differentiate myself from my younger brother, who mains Ice Climbers in Melee

Bonus is that she also has some nice color references that make me use more than one or two (though Gravity Suit Samus is still a big go to)
Either way finding a main in a fighting game is always a fun experience for me.
So I have started playing Strive. When doing research on the game I saw Johnny. I never looked back.
I recently introduced ggst to my sister, and the furst thing i told her was to try different characters to find the one she liked
For example my mains in different games are:
Mk11: Joker - a midrange setup character.
Mk1: Johnny - rushdown mixup character.
Sf6: Cammy - goddess of footsies.
GGST: Testament - full on zoner.
And now GBVR: Katalina - basic ass shoto.
I don't why but it feels like Gekko made an video on this topic for the third time
How I decide my main in Fighting games is...
- go to training room, arcade, story or whatever "safe" environment the game has.
- start picking characters and just mash buttons to see what characters I jell with at least at a first impression level
- pick my favorite among these as my first main.
Characters/things I avoid:
- grapplers. Don't like em
- big slow characters.
For me personally:
When it comes to picking stronger characters vs weaker characters, I’m not too concerned. If I really like the character, I’ll get good enough to win just as much.
The way me and my friends find out is just get into a lobby and play randoms. It’s the classic way you used to do as a kid just play the game.
Remember back in the day (pre MTX bullshit) my drive to collect every single outfit and skin made narrowing my main down REAL easy xD...
8:30 not entirely. Sometimes you just dont want to hear people bitching about who you play day in and day out. Especially if you think its true
I had to learn to love a character's design, but play someone else bc their moveset vibes with me more
Can't wait to watch this and jump on strive and still be like damn who am I gonna play
the piece of furniture stood out to me
Or, choose the hottest character. Potemkin is a pretty good pick if you ask me.
i agree w/ everything buuut personally i play weaker characters because i like it when me and the boys ALL have fun instead of me just mowing them down with happy chaos
I just try characters until one clicks with me enough to try to master it. I often just try them all at least once out of curiosity.
When I started with fighting games my criteria was always: "Is this character a redhead girl? If so, I'm in".
Worked so far for me.
That May scream is gold
As soon as I first got the game, I immediately picked Nago because I liked how he looked. I then decided to play him a bit and immediately fell in love with his gameplay too (I like characters with long swords that can hit across the stage). I tried out Sin when I got the season 2 pass and liked him too (he talks a lot about eating food and I love food) so now I largely play Nago and Sin. I'll have to figure out which one of them is going to be my true main though.
As an American, I picked up strive for Happy Chaos and stayed for Elphelt. I regret nothing
