    What foot are you using by chance? I used this tape on my Juki DX7 and I love it!! Well, I just purchased the Kingmax GC0302 (Juki 1181 clone) and wanted to watch this video again to make sure I have it right. Thanks again for the video. It's definitely on my saved list!!❤

    Thank you, that will be a big help.
    May I ask what kind of thread you use for bag making? I bought a thread stand now I need to buy some cones if thread.
    Thanks!!! Love your videos!

      Hey Michelle! I use Gutermann Mara 70 Top Stitch/Buttonhole Thread- Tex 40. It’s heavier than the 100 weight that you typically get at Joanns and Hobby Lobby. It makes a really pretty TS on all my bags. You can pick some up at Wawak~ www.wawak.com/Thread/Thread-By-Brand/Gutermann/gutermann-mara-70-top-stitchbuttonhole-thread-tex-40-765-yds/

      Amy Lynne Designs thank you for your reply I just bought a thread stand for cones because I would literally use 2-3 larger spools of thread a month.😄
      So thanks for the advice!

    This is so helpful. Thank you. How heavy or thick and thin of fabric can you sew with your 8700?

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  3 роки тому +1

      I can sew chiffon and quarter inch leather with no issues. My suggestion is to take everything you want to sew on the machine into a dealer and do a test drive. That was how I decided on the 8700. I tried out a walking foot and felt it was too cumbersome for my needs. This was just the ticket!

    I sew with Pendleton and upholstery weight leather and my 1957 Singer 401A struggles with it sometimes. Would this machine handle that fabric easily, in your opinion?

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  4 роки тому

      The Judi DDL 8700 is a great machine. I think it could handle lightweight leather with no problem. It sews Marine Vinyl with no issues.

    It seems the tape will lift when you open the door on top to change the bobbin?!? How do you handle that?

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  3 роки тому

      It will, but I never access my bobbin through there. I reach under the machine. Easy Peasy. Also you can use a box cutter and do a simple slice at the seams where that door opens and then you don't have to worry about it tearing it :)

    Thank you for sharing! I just have one question. When looking at your plate, how come the “4” doesn’t line up with the 1” mark? I am new to sewing, and was never taught how to understand measurements (or maybe my dyslexia blocked it because I didn’t understand it), but without this video I would’ve thought the full inch would’ve landed with the 1” mark on the plate. I plan to get some of this tape as I’ve just been “winging it” with practice items, but I’d like to fully understand this part so when I’m reading patterns I’m not second guessing myself 😊 thanks so much!

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  2 роки тому

      On the video the 4” mark on the tape sits right on the 1” mark. The first mark right of the needle is 1/4”, then it’s 1/2”, 3/4” and finally 1” where the “4” sits.
      Not all machines mark in imperial (inches). Some will use metric. You can contact the company you bought your machine from and buy an imperial marked plate if you’d prefer it.

    • @Heart2HeartCreations
      @Heart2HeartCreations 2 роки тому +1

      @@AmyLynneDesigns thanks for the reply! It must just be the angle of the video because it looks like the 1” mark aligns with the 3/4” on the plate. 🤣 my mistake, but glad my math isn’t as messed up as I was thinking LOL

    Genius, I love this. My biggest problem is seam consistency.

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  3 роки тому +3

      I like to take a roll of painters tape and cut about a 3" chunk out of it. It will end up being several layers deep so it will have a bit of height. You can put this on your machine and then sew right up next to it. Many people use the magnetic edge thingy, technical term lol, but they move. The painters tape doesn't move. And if it gets less sticky you can peel off one layer at the bottom and then restick it!

    Does the vertical piece on the left interfere with replacing a bobbin?

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  2 роки тому

      I have never replaced the bobbin through that slider. I reach under the machine. I can’t get my hands comfortably in that hole. If you decide that you want to go through that slider hole at the top all you have to do is take a straight edge and cut the tape. Then you can slide that over with no interference and it won’t mess with your tape at all.

    I have a top load bobbin....will this tape still work or would I have to change it every time I need a bobbin?

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  3 роки тому +1

      It would work. Put it on and once it’s in the spot you want it in use a box cutter and slice it around the cover the goes over the bobbin. Then you can remove the cover and get to the bobbin and you dont have to peel the tape off.

    Do you change it every time you change or fill a bobbin because it covers the bobbin plate?

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  4 роки тому +1

      I never access the bobbin case from that spot. I change the bobbin by reaching under the machine and pulling it out. I tried the cover when I first got the machine and hated trying to slide that thing open. I get a way better grasp on it from under the machine. Easy Peasy. Also if you access it that way you can cut the tape at the seam where the cover slides. No biggie.
