To clarify, Baizhu trying to stop death from happening period is not something I agree with at all, but her reaction to the situation in front of the kid just honestly irked me so much and made me dislike her when I previously used to like her as a character.

Baizhu's usually very gentle and soft-spoken but you can clearly hear how he exasperated he was about Hu Tao. Man is already very sick, yet has to walk all the way to the civil affairs to settle it, not once but multiple times!!! Give the doctor a break!
He doesn't care about her at all. He's just after her secret of immortality. If Qiqi gets herself stuck you can "override" her order by hugging her and saying you love her. Her character lore tab says it doesn't work when Baizhu does it, because he doesn't love her.

Baizhu is terminally ill, to the point he coughs blood and has to take days off himself just to recover. Yet when Hu Tao kidnaps Qiqi, he goes out of his way to get her back. If he truly didn’t care for her, he wouldn’t do or say any of these things for Qiqi. (Genshin fandom try not to erase single father representation challenge !!)
And a little bonus! Baizhu has a voiceline where he talks about if Qiqi forgot to dry the herbs and he wasn’t mad, not even with his tone (like how he sounded mad in the voiceline about Hu Tao). Changsheng even said that Herbalist Gui could dry the herbs if Qiqi did forget. Just more proof that Baizhu cares for Qiqi dearly

HuTao is that one insane friend that means well but does not understand other people's feelings. She tries sometimes to understand, but she can only do so with her own logic and experience. If she haven't experience the situation and it's against her logic, she will sound like a psycho that doesn't care what other people feel.
Fun fact: at some point, Hu tao actually found out about Qiqi's past and has actually been trying to make it up to her, and failing. Unfortunately for Hu tao, she's tried kidnapping qiqi so many times that it's one of the few things she can remember. Whoops.
i never liked hu tao in the story im so sorry. i tried so hard to like her because i love her character design so much. baizhu story quest was my favorite out of all of them, but hu tao's constant appearance dampens my mood. you can hear the frustration in baizhu's voice when he says how annoying it is that hu tao kidnaps qiqi to bury her. hu tao treats it like a joke or something but it really isnt funny on a regular basis. imagine promoting your business of a funeral parlor outside a pharmacy/hospital?? 💀 - hu tao main because shes my strongest character.

She doesn't do it anymore, and in fairness to her Baizhu cheats death using the power of an evil god and Qiqi is inherently potentially dangerous being a Jiangshi. Her coupon/promotion shtick is also her trying to present death as an ordinary part of life and not something to fear, because all methods of cheating it have negative or dangerous effects on the person or everyone around them
Look I totally get where you're coming from in the sense that I have found many a fictional character to be kind of annoying. But just based on the way this reads, it sounds like you're going a little too deep into the rabbit hole here
Honestly I hate hu tao in general. From her "pranking" nature to the way she's not so tactfully trying to promote her business to just how she loathes the idea of people not dying just because she says so.. it's honestly irritating. Paired with her horrendous gameplay mechanics that are a pain to utilize... and this all started based on her story quest
I heard that Hu Tao actually found out about Qiqi's story and doesn't do it to bury her anymore. She just spends time with Qiqi now, but Qiqi forgets everytime and so she has to run after her again and again to show her she's nice now. I think this was on a lore channel, but I can't remember where and so, I cannot confirm it in any way.
Its funny cuz their personality and health are quite the opposite I mean Hutao is very lively when she's Dead related job while Baizhu are Sick when he's related to medicine etc etc
Her 4th(?) Character story confirms that she used to kidnap qiqi but upon doing resurch (she went out of her way to do) on qiqi's past and what had actually happened, she started to understand better, and understand that qiqi wanted to live and wasnt just a zombie slave to biazhu/others. By that point it was unfortunate enough that qiqi had begun remembering hutao as dangerous and avoids her at all cost. Hu Tao has done her best to mend it but its not easy when qiqi is forgetful, qiqi's primary "caretaker" (even outside of qiqi) is mistrusting of her and being herself so micheivious playing into it isnt untempting. (I think mostly in the joking with others vs actually going after qiqi) As someone who loves all 3 of thease guys (qiqi the most), i cannot take this hutao slander in the comments! /hj Honestly i think people not liking her tends to come from a disconect in her idiology and wither peoples knoledge of it or conflicting with theirs. HuTao is myschivious thats her thing, but pair it with her views on death and you get hutao's character. Hu Tao beleives and knows via litrally taking ghosts to the spiritworld, that the berrier of life and death is incredibly important. With dying being verry important. In witch its on full display in her beleif that the spirit world is better and ment for the dead. Qiqi was a zombie, she knew that zombies required masters and ruined a souls rest so assumed the same and the story continues from their.
Baizhu also uses the power of an evil god to cheat death, is part of a chain of acolytes who used the contract to cheat death and burn their own lives to slowly restore the snake's strength, and being committed to finding immortality. Between the two, Hu Tao is the good guy.
@CircusFoxxo i dont think we know yet if changshang is Evil, per say, but she isn't inherently good from what we know lore wise. It all comes down to perspective on what is right, protecting living people as much you can or following the path of life and death. The imortality thing is definitely iffy tho.

Hu Tao literally has no social awareness or little empathy to people losing their loved ones or those who have already lost their lives like Qiqi. The fact that she sees people dying as purely benefit for her business is just so tone deaf to the people that are losing a loved one, especially in Baizhu's character story when talking about the dad that almost walked off a cliff in front of his son!
She sees death as something that should be spoken about and addressed like the normal part of life it is and not cheated or feared. She doesn't dislike doctors or medicine/healing in general, her family literally started out as plague doctors. She dislikes Baizhu specifically because he's trying to become immortal and uses the power of an evil god to cheat death
you completely got her wrong. her whole belief is that you should have no regrets in death, because death is as natural as life. aka she believes in "memento mori". she understands loss and takes it very seriously when the time comes, but she also makes jokes to handle it in her own way.
i also think people forget the fact that she wanted to bury qiqi because shes literally dead, and hu tao thought that qiqi deserves a proper burial. she personally thinks its cruel to make someone live like qiqi does. she eventually stopped capturing her though.
Hu tao might still be kidnapping Qiq so they could have playtime to make up for her past assumptions. Qiqi just doesn't like her because of trauma, and Baizhu doesn't like her because he's too tired. 🤣

Whenever people say they hate Hu tao because she keep kidnapping Qiqi i was like "what a snowflake, she was obviously just messing around with Qiqi" But after i learned that she literally spread funeral flyers on a PHARMACY and make Baizhu go out of his way to consult with a government official to settle his business everytime Hu tao kidnapped Qiqi, i can understand why they dislike her now
I love Hu Tao and She already stopped trying to Kidnap Qiqi and trying to mend their relationship. Sadly Qiqi only remember Hu Tao Kidnapping now.
@silverhawkscape2677 knowing how Qiqi has memory loss, the fact that she remembers Hu Tao only kidnapping her just says how many times Hu Tao had to kidnap her for Qiqi to remember her only for that. I honestly feel bad for Qiqi, poor kid probably has ptsd when she sees Hu Tao, plus Baizhu sounds so frustrated and done in this voice line.

i never liked hu tao in the story im so sorry. i tried so hard to like her because i love her character design so much. baizhu story quest was my favorite out of all of them, but hu tao's constant appearance dampens my mood. you can hear the frustration in baizhu's voice when he says how annoying it is that hu tao kidnaps qiqi to bury her. hu tao treats it like a joke or something but it really isnt funny on a regular basis.

She doesn't do it anymore, and in fairness to her Baizhu cheats death using the power of an evil god and Qiqi is inherently potentially dangerous being a Jiangshi.
Her coupon/promotion shtick is also her trying to present death as an ordinary part of life and not something to fear, because all methods of cheating it have negative or dangerous effects on the person or everyone around them

Honestly I hate hu tao in general. From her "pranking" nature to the way she's not so tactfully trying to promote her business to just how she loathes the idea of people not dying just because she says so.. it's honestly irritating. Paired with her horrendous gameplay mechanics that are a pain to utilize... and this all started based on her story quest

I heard that Hu Tao actually found out about Qiqi's story and doesn't do it to bury her anymore. She just spends time with Qiqi now, but Qiqi forgets everytime and so she has to run after her again and again to show her she's nice now. I think this was on a lore channel, but I can't remember where and so, I cannot confirm it in any way.

I mean, with his sprint lines being coughing, i think him going to the ministry of civil affairs each time is taking years off of his life.
Her 4th(?) Character story confirms that she used to kidnap qiqi but upon doing resurch (she went out of her way to do) on qiqi's past and what had actually happened, she started to understand better, and understand that qiqi wanted to live and wasnt just a zombie slave to biazhu/others. By that point it was unfortunate enough that qiqi had begun remembering hutao as dangerous and avoids her at all cost. Hu Tao has done her best to mend it but its not easy when qiqi is forgetful, qiqi's primary "caretaker" (even outside of qiqi) is mistrusting of her and being herself so micheivious playing into it isnt untempting. (I think mostly in the joking with others vs actually going after qiqi)

Honestly i think people not liking her tends to come from a disconect in her idiology and wither peoples knoledge of it or conflicting with theirs. HuTao is myschivious thats her thing, but pair it with her views on death and you get hutao's character. Hu Tao beleives and knows via litrally taking ghosts to the spiritworld, that the berrier of life and death is incredibly important. With dying being verry important. In witch its on full display in her beleif that the spirit world is better and ment for the dead. Qiqi was a zombie, she knew that zombies required masters and ruined a souls rest so assumed the same and the story continues from their.
Baizhu also uses the power of an evil god to cheat death, is part of a chain of acolytes who used the contract to cheat death and burn their own lives to slowly restore the snake's strength, and being committed to finding immortality. Between the two, Hu Tao is the good guy.
@CircusFoxxo i dont think we know yet if changshang is Evil, per say, but she isn't inherently good from what we know lore wise. It all comes down to perspective on what is right, protecting living people as much you can or following the path of life and death.
The imortality thing is definitely iffy tho.

Hu Tao literally has no social awareness or little empathy to people losing their loved ones or those who have already lost their lives like Qiqi. The fact that she sees people dying as purely benefit for her business is just so tone deaf to the people that are losing a loved one, especially in Baizhu's character story when talking about the dad that almost walked off a cliff in front of his son!

She sees death as something that should be spoken about and addressed like the normal part of life it is and not cheated or feared. She doesn't dislike doctors or medicine/healing in general, her family literally started out as plague doctors. She dislikes Baizhu specifically because he's trying to become immortal and uses the power of an evil god to cheat death

you completely got her wrong. her whole belief is that you should have no regrets in death, because death is as natural as life. aka she believes in "memento mori". she understands loss and takes it very seriously when the time comes, but she also makes jokes to handle it in her own way.
i also think people forget the fact that she wanted to bury qiqi because shes literally dead, and hu tao thought that qiqi deserves a proper burial. she personally thinks its cruel to make someone live like qiqi does. she eventually stopped capturing her though.

Funny thing, Hu Tao stopped trying to bury Qiqi a while ago. Upon learning the circumstances of her unlife and how she wants to continue living, she stopped trying to bury Qiqi and actually tries to befriend her.

It was only Qiqi, and that was because she didn't know the full story. To her, it was just someone cheating death, which is not fair at all to everyone else who ends up dying.
Once she knew the full story as to why Qiqi is "back alive", she felt bad and decided to leave her alone. She still feels bad abt it but there's nothing she can do to fix it bc Qiqi dislikes her a TON. Who wouldn't without context, right?
