Thanks for the video, I just finished changing my brake switch on my B7. This replacement is as easy as replacing a headlight. I did not remove the OBD connector. Once complete, I also cleared the traction control light that came on because of this faulty brake switch - Not sure if this step was required though.
Thanka for saying this. This is exactly whats going on in my b7 rs4. First the traction control light came on and I never trouble shooted it. Now my right brake light alert is coming on and my brake lights are fine. This should fix both.
Great job! Ok thank you for this I’m actually having this problem with the b7 currently. Audi had the car for 4 weeks still couldn’t find the issue. My god. It’s really this easy?! A neighbor said hey your brake lights are on! I had the keys in the house the whole time.
@@eddkennedy6458 yes all you have to do is change the switch and the issue is gone! Found my tail lights lit up like a Christmas tree but no one was in the car! Simple fix but man Audi had the vehicle for 2 months
@@eddkennedy6458 absolutely I was surprised I mean I spent almost $1000 at the dealership in diagnostics alone. Which made me angry, shouldn’t they know why this was happening?? I had to show them a video on my oh one of the brake lights being on, and I ordered the part, crazy, but If it’s happening to you, don’t worry issue resolved!!
I have a 2005 Allroad. Had same issue…there’s a cover above steering column. Right where you’ll be looking at the instrument cluster. Pop it up. There’s 2 8mm bolts there also.
Brake lights can come on by themselves, when car is sitting, and turned off. Car can have trouble shifting , because the computer thinks the brakes are on. . Also, traction control light can come on randomly. There may be other symptoms.
@@fukkit528 Sorry I forgot to update. It solved all the problems I mentioned. In addition, the cruise control was also being affected because the computer thought the brakes were on.
Hi I have a Audi B8 Avant 2.0 tdi 2008. My Esp on dash is always illuminated, no Error codes for it. And I the ESP button does nothing. Can this brake light switch be the problem?

Great! Very nice to find such a detailed step by step instruction video when you need it. Thanks!
Brilliant video very well explained and helped me more than speaking to Audi
