Who expects a cat to understand human language?
Still most owners will happily talk to their cat, hoping their message will somehow come across.
On the other hand, cats already know most humans won't be smart enough to understand their subtle non-verbal communication system. That's why they invented the 'meow', which should be easier to grasp for the average human.
Still there is nothing wrong with some explanation of meow-vocabulary of cats, to avoid all misunderstandings.

My cat asks to open the bathroom door when I'm in. Sometimes she sits in front and looks like 🙀 "What are you doing, human!?"

She wants to feel safe with you in the bathroom. The door is closed and you're there, what could happen to her?
They do that because they kinda want to see your poo. They do that to the other cats they love to check on them if they are healthy (kinda). However, your cat has never seen your poo,but can catch the scent (they have very sensitive noses), so she knows when you're pooping, but cannot check if you're healthy or not. This may be bothersome for us humans, but in all honesty the cat is just curious and worried for the well being of its human.
In conclusion: yes, they know when we're doing "the stuff"
dont forget the cat activation sound "mrrrp" when kitty is suprised/woken

My favorite sound ever 😻 Sometimes I gently, slowly, and quietly reach out to pet my kitties while they’re asleep/distracted just to get them to make this adorable sound.

I will gently pet my kitties when they're sleeping for the noise, and to make them stretch. My sleepy cats like their bellies rubbed and "mrrp" every time. It's so cute!

My cat does that too sometimes. It's basically a cat's way of swearing, since they can't actually reach what they're eyeing.
Called chattering. It's not really a meow. It's the "can't - reach- birb/ bug/ squirrel " - noise.
I always thought of it as chirping. But i think i read somewhere that that is them practicing their killing bite....
@@loka6664 Never heard of that before. All I know is that they do that when they're watching something they can't reach.
I had one cat who insisted on talking while eating when I got home from work and fed her. It's like she just couldn't wait to tell me about her day!

mine is the same thing, she stares a lot, follows me everywhere and if I go near the kitchen she starts to lead me to her bowl. If ignored she may bite.
@Ralsei with a gun lol too funny! I don't have to deal with the jumping on the tables...yet, the MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW is always there when I have the food in his dish and the walk from the sink to where I put his dish down... is exactly that!! haha,

My cats meow loudly when my husband plays with them, like pushing them around and such. Normally they don’t really meow except playtime...

This nice vid just came up in my feed. Sometimes I still feel sad about Alvi, almost as if he was one of my own cats.
Cats' trills, mews, coos, squeaks, squeals and chirrups are solely for our benefit. I find that immensely touching. People who don't care for cats accuse them of indifference. In fact, they learnt a new language just to talk to us.
You are absolutely right: cats just know humans need a different approach. Thank you for watching this old Alvi video, he lives on both in our hearts and in these videos💖

Thank you! This was actually very helpful. My cat makes a certain sound when she's disappointed or bored. It has s very clear complaining tone. It's very similar to the one you presented as confused or stressed but a bit longer and accompanied by a very sad look on her face.

Well, not all cats are the same
They know you are reliable. I've hardly ever heard a meow from any of them when getting their food unless I was late. Then, a couple of them acted as though they were starving if I got home 20 minutes after their usual dinner time.

1:55 A few years ago I had a cat who was making an "Ack-Ack"-sound when he wanted to go out. He was imitating the sound of the door-knob. He could even vary that to "Ack-Ack wahooou" which meant "open the door..NOW"

I just recently found your channel & the gorgeous Alvi & even though I have a house full of critters; I am enamored with him. I have an orange/marmalade moggy named Harry that is very similar to Alvi. He is the most “talkative” of our cats & just a wonderful cat in every aspect. I’ve never met a cat I didn’t love & vice versa (I rehabilitate & foster cats, many are/were feral & turned them into trusting love-bugs which makes it hard to adopt them out & I keep in touch w/ their new families to make sure they are happy & safe) but there’s something about orange kitties that makes my heart swell. It’s great to see your & Alvi’s videos. Give him some extra love for me.😻
