Kondura is a 1978 drama film starring Smitha Patil, Ananth Nag and Vanisri. Parashuram is revered as a great guru once a mystic sage grants him a boon and announces him as the village guardian. The village goddess tells him to get rid of the evil in the village. Bhairavmoorthy is a womanizer. He has an eye for his brother's wife and both of them die leaving their disabled son who is married to Parvati and she is conceived. What happens after that and Parasuram's intervention form the plot of the movie.

A classic movie, truly artistic. The actors, the locations, the crisp dialogues ...everything is perfect. I guess the scenes were shot in Andhra Pradesh. Can someone tell me which villages. Which is the ancient temple.

मैं जब बच्चा था, उस वक्त और अस्सी के दशक में आर्ट फिल्मे रहती थी| जब ऐसी फिल्मे दूरदर्शन पे होती थी...इन्हे देखना तो हम जैसे किसी बच्चों का खेल नहीं था...लेकिन बड़ों के भी बहुत ही कम समझ में आती थी| फिल्म पूरा होने के बाद लोगों को ये समझ में आता था की इसने तो हमारा इतवार बिगाड़ दिया😅अगर थियेटर में जाके एक धांसू फिल्म देखते तो बहुत अच्छा था| स्मिता पाटील, ओम पुरी, नसीरुद्दीन शाह, गिरीश कर्नाड जैसे एक्टर का ग्रुप अमूमन ऐसी फिल्मों में होता था|
बाद बाद में कास्ट देख के और आर्ट फिल्म ऐसा सुन के तो हम बाहर खेलने जाते थे|😊
I think shyam benegal was an athiest. These people tried to destroy Hindu culture and beliefs. He tried the same in this movie. Just to prove Hindus are stupid people. Their beliefs are useless. That’s the movie.

Surprise ending, I had no idea of the story before watching the movie. But... the baby survived, right. At the very end between 2:03:10 and 2.03:21 isn't Smita shown in a yellow saree playing with a baby? Watch it in slowest motion.

Well..I wonder why they always make such films only on Hindu deities...in a very subtle way our belief on devi and local deities are questioned...the film shows that what parshuram was seeing was all his imagination and hence illusion....master in the film tellls you that instead of deval's reconstruction...school should be opened...At the end what you learn is that all these devis and deities are just unreal...and people who believe in them meet only destruction...just like all the main character....one commits suicide and other goes mad
I don`t think that is the message of the film. The film does not indicate in any clear way that the visions were not real. One can interpret it in many ways. But what the film shows is that even if Devi shows herself to you, it still depends on you what you do with it. Parshuram made wrong choices. Even mystics and religious people and those who have visions can make wrong choices and go astray. Religion is a test. Good people will do good with it. But if your soul is not pure, you will create a mess out of it. The same is also true for any other ideology of worldview. Also, what do you mean with "always make such films only on Hindu deities"? There are thousands of movies out there criticizing Islam, Christianity, Judaism and believers of many other religions. Why should Hindus alone get immunity on this?

As usual Ananth nag acting is top notch... My all time favourite.. I don't think anybody can match his acting skills.. All actors are excellent.. But the movie doesn't make any sense only.. They have showed brahmin community and the concept of God very shabbily... It's dicpicts the writer's shallow understanding of God.

देवी माता बोली वैसे पाप से गाव बचाने का का काम अनुसूया और उसके पती ने कीया ..माता की लिला वो सब मे है और किसी भी रुप मे आती है और इन्सान से कुछ भी करवाती है सभी परिस्थिती मे संयम रखना और दुसरो का कहना सुनना ..सबका कल्याण हो ये भावना पंडीत रखता है अगर उसको भगवान की लिला समझ आये वो कभी बिगडता नही जिसको पत्नी मे देवी माता दिखी वो भुलकर भी पाप नही करता.. ये कहानी मे सब जानबूझकर गलत दिखाया है उद्देश्य हिंदु पुजारी की भगवान श्रद्धा पावित्र पर सवाल करना है पंडीत के बारे मे गलत सोचकर अन्य धर्मरक्षक की तरफ आकर्षण मुडाना है ..हिंदु मंदिर जैसा मंदिर नही और हिंदु धर्मरक्षक की वजह से हिंदु देवालय मंदिर सुरक्षित है
