- How To Install A Zip Line With No Trees / DIY. Handyman shows In this video I explain exactly how I installed a slackers zip line with no tree on one end. and how I manufactured the post to hold the line.
I look forward to getting fun jobs like that, man I'm in the wrong territory... Looks great and fun too!
Yes so much fun!! :)
Years ago I built a similar project for a regular customer- worried about many things. I built a carrier with a pair of pulleys that rode on the cable, then worried about kids putting fingers in it. Then built a protective cover. Then there’s the issue of it working properly but not coming to abrupt stop. Or cable having a broken strand that sticks out like a pin. Or is it my fault if a kid just falls off. Up front sounded like fun project but then the worry. 😬
How high up is the cable? Would attaching it to a metal ring work or does it have to go around the boards?
Nice
In same size yard, how high above is the taller side ?
Can you share link to specific kit you used? Has it held up ok?
Did you mix the concrete in the large holes yourself or did you rent a machine to stir the concrete for you?
How high is the higher end tied up?
Awesome
💪
Can you send me a link to the exact zip line you ordered? I’d really appreciate it, no worries if not 👍 I don’t have trees to work with so that’s what I’m working with
nice. You must carry a LOT of liability Insurance.
Yep!
The guy who designed the zip line anchor is Ryan Emerson. Maybe you should give him credit and link his video in your description.
Yes, I will link to his video! Thanks for the reminder!
Do you still install this?
I just got called in to the dentist office to pick up my new teeth
can you provide the lists item required from 'a' to 'z' listed? It would be helpful for others too....
Thanks for sharing :D
How much was the materials
How is using a 2*4 simulation a tree on it? The best thing is to get a hold on the other one
How much cement?
Hey David, Thanks for your comment! I can't remember the exact amount but I dug that hole pretty big and I think I used around 20 or 30 50lb bags or quickrete concrete
So the wood doesn’t buckle or lean in at all?
Nope! Holds strong!!
See I don’t have a tree, so you think if I did the same on both ends it will hold…and the rebar…is it the L shaped ones..how many you use?
@@handymanjourneymay I ask the link to the zip line you used the cable and handles etc?
Your insurance covers that type of work?
When you know the engineer hes talking about
This looks like a fun project but where I live and work, based on personal observation I would turn this project down. The reason in one word liability!
I may be overly cautious but kids do crazy stuff, I know I did, and if one gets injured (even if there were 3 of them riding together) they could look for some one to blame.
Ya there is a lot of liability, but I know they job was done right!
Honest Lee Handyman .
He has a point perhaps you should only install posts.. ;-)
Know what I mean?
John Limongello totally. There definitely is a lot of liability!

I'm an ex contractor... One and only time that a lawyer became involved was for a job I did for a supposedly very good friend... The point is try to put the liability back on the customer.
Best of luck by the way I'm probably going to build one of those for my boys using the double 2 by 12's.
20 bags of concrete
Maybe 6 Or 7
It's connected to an oak tree but the title says "with no trees". That's...confusing. Nice job though.
Well I guess with any tiny amount of though, you could imagine just doing the 2x12 thing twice? But people hate to think and love to whine.
@@TPNL1 What is any tiny amount of though? Sorry if I'm not thinking again.
No break system how awesome DEFFINTLY not safe for kids people are crazy.
Great zip line
Your starting to sound like that snooty engineer throwing around all those numbers, it's a kids zipline
Which incorporates a pulley system, which makes it a machine.
