I was researching how to crab and came across an article that stated there was an old toxic dump site in Palestine Texas and that it flowed into Galveston waters and that you had to be careful about eating the seafood from Galveston waters
Well, with that said the crabs that the seafood markets sell ( that are not already bottled) come from Galveston. My dad would go crabbing on the beach when my brother and I were very young. In addition, a friend of ours had a camp on Sydnor Lamp so we also crabbed there, as well. I will be 63 yrs old this year and I have always eaten crab from Galveston as well as shrimp and fish and I am not sick. I believe that in the majority of the waterways in the country have toxic dumping. The size of the Gulf of Mexico would show a minute amount. Also, Palestine is not within 50 miles of Galveston. It must be tied into the waterways that eventually drain into Galveston Bay.
The rising cost of our homes makes it difficult for small families with children to live here. My home had been appraised at over $220k but, I understand the 2023 appraisals have gone up significantly. I live in a 3-1-2 in a small quiet neighborhood. It would be great for a person wanting to get away from the crowds and enjoy the breeze in the summer and read a book in the side yard.
Very interesting, thank you 🙏
I lived n Jamaica beach for 18 yrs - galv has lots of tourist - Island life is awesome- u have to love the ocean the shrimp the fish and tge breeze

Who the hell has the money to go house hunting today? Fox you're out of touch!

Section 8 paradise....
yep

How does it hold up to hurricanes?
Depends on the hurricane
Storms come & go - water comes up but goes down twice as fast just part of living on an island! No biggy- news media builds up storms more than anything
Why do you keep reposting the same videos? I think Fox can afford to post new ones.
Love my State 💯♥️
What a gateway community put it that way i see it. Wish I had a tiny n modest vacation home there myself to get some tarpon n Goliath grouper fishin 🐟 going or things like that except there's high exposure risk from getting ever stronger hurricanes..
I have lived here all my life. Hurricanes hit every decade if that. Our last hurricane was Ike in 2008. Hurricane Harvey did not affect Galveston. The rains affected Galveston County, though. Prior to 2008 the storm that hit our area but, did not damage my home was Hurricane Alicia. The west end saw the damage. The only other storm that affected my family was back in 1961. Currently, the city has issues with STR to the point that they do not think twice before making them pay fees. The residents do not seem to care for STR due to noise levels and the inability to find street parking. I live next door to an STR and have not experienced issues.
Would love a house in Galveston just worried about hurricane season lol 😂
It honestly is not as big of a problem as one would think. Most of Galveston flooded after Hurricane Ike because the water came from the backside which is quite unusual. Neighborhoods that did not receive flooding were the homes in an area called the Denver Survey. These homes are located on the streets of Sherman, Denver, and Cadecues. Another group of homes that did not get water in the homes was those along Avenue O from 25th to 37th or so. Of those the homes that were not built on the ground and were raised about 2ft and higher received no damage unless they had trees that were down.
