Was this a lure only comp? Lived in Karratha for many years and found the full moon around the end of September early October was the breeding run. A lady named Jane Devitt landed a 42kg mack on 10 kg line off my boat unfortunately with a little assist so could not claim a record. Every Mackie over 30kg we caught was on a live Trevally around 1-2kg. By the way my first boat was called Fantasy and was painted Orange. Great fishing brings back lots of memories
Nah it wasnt mate but was jus doing what i was confident doing. I havent tryed the live baiting for macks yet but its definitely got me keen to try.

The 42kg fish was caught at Madeline shoals we lost a bigger one just after when 3 big bronzies moved in, nothing changed re the tax man since i left
