    Bloke was so impressed by the CZ 600 Trail belonging to ‪@PolenarTactical‬ that he used on Day 2 of Lynx Brutality 2023 that he had to acquire one. It's a very interesting design of high speed low drag turnbolt rifle (available in .223 Rem, .300 BLK and 7.62x39) but isn't without a few strange design choices and a few flaws.

    Good review, possibly worth mentioning the MLOK is set up for short magpul MLOK standard (the short screws not the long screws, you can buy bags of these from magpul and their distributors). I have the magpul picatinny bipod mounted upfront, nice, light and compact. In terms of groupings, as always it partly ammunition dependent, but I do agree with your broader comment in regard to sub-moa rifles. Any thing is possible with three round groupings but it changes with 30 round groupings. I have found with the 20 inch 1:9 twist version of this, the maximum PBR to be ~250 yds (4 in) or 330 yds (8 in), best general use zero is 33 yds (30m).

    Seen on social media on the bent bolt handle. Definitely would be reminiscent of the P14/M1917 way of things. On the American side of things, this rifle would be a bit of a hard sell since if they want a .223 bolt gun in this configuration, chassis systems for the Mossberg MVP and the Ruger American exist. And the Trail is pricier than either of those rifles, especially if it doesn't have the precision rifle accuracy. It would be interesting to see a head-to-head with the Trail and either the American or the MVP, though I do think that the Trail might beat them in terms of cycle time for multiple reasons.
    Still, I do like the concept of this rifle. I sure hope CZ listens and improves this system plus offering it at a better price.

    • @SurmaSampo
      @SurmaSampo 4 місяці тому

      The trail is considerably more expensive to produce than the Ruger American. I don't understand how you can expect to match price against a very cheaply made basic bolt action in a simple plastic stock.

    • @TheOz91
      @TheOz91 4 місяці тому +2

      @@SurmaSampo This is why a performance test would be interesting. Based on how people praise the American and how accurate it can be (obviously not sub-MOA even though some claim it can do that, but still quite accurate), as well as chassis systems on offer from multiple companies, the Trail can be a hard sell for a lot of people.
      For a "cheapmade bolt action in a simple plastic stock," the Ruger American can do a lot, apparently.

    Thanks for an interesting review.
    Looks like a fun rifle, if a bit pricey.
    But still nice to see that CZ have not lost their flair for making appealing rifles.
    Their humble .22 rimfire hunting rifles always used to be the best first choice for great value entry level guns.
    Some more exotic German makers made even nicer sporters, if you could find one at a sensible price.

    If you find yourself looking for a new LPVO, have a look at the delta stryker 1-6. very bright red dot and extremely thin bezel. I think for this sort of application (compact, mostly freehand shooting but with some capability to push ranges) it's the best of the compromises.

    Excellent review, thank you. Have you tried the Hornady 52gr HPBT through it, funnily enough I get better groups through my Haenel CR223 with the above mentioned ammo. Talking Sub MOA with a Steiner 536 @ 100m. If CZ were to drop the price to a for mr more realistic price then I would get one, before I forget, do the GI 20rnd mags click in on an open bolt?, how much needs to be taken off the Pmags for them to function properly? As always, I had to watch this video twice 🤭🫣 so take two likes 👍 All ze best from DE from this expat 😁

      Haven't tried 20 round GI's, but 30 rounders won't engage. If your P-mag is shaving, it's just a touch of material off the top. I got the 600 Trail in 7.62x39. VERY discrete with Hornady Sub-X subsonic 255gr hunting loads and a can. Issues with the proprietary Bren 2 magazines. About half of them need to have the feed lips dressed down with a file. Not a big deal, but a bit unexpected considering how difficult the magazines were to acquire. The gun came with one hand-picked mag and I had to order extras from Chechia. Finally found them for a much better price in the US only to discover that many don't fit without some modification.

    • @dbmail545

      @PolenarTactical IMO the biggest improvement CZ could make for the money would be to supply a right-side cheek piece for the buttstock to accommodate left-handed shooters (I'm a mighty but practice "hot swaps" to shoot around barricades) With the ambidextrous safety and magazine release it seems like quite an omission.

    Nice looking rifle, and a really clever bolt! Re the stocknlength: Instead of faffing with para cord and stuff, why not either shorten the rear ends of the bars (this might require not locking cuts for the collapsed position) or make new slots at the riggt length (if it's not too close to the current intermediate position)? Either should be easy on the Chap's milling machine.

    The bolt handle looks like a fairly simple part other than the multiple bends required for the shape you want to end up with... I think I'd be tempted to turn up a longer than necessary blank with the appropriate tapped hole in the bolt body end and figure out how to get each bend with a little jig and some heat... then cut it to the length you want and glue a suitable knob on after.
    I'm not sure why altering the receiver would be needed - surely it's possible to clear the receiver at the designed angle and then dogleg back for the position you want?

      @@dbmail545 No it doesn't it has three including fully extended. I know this because I own one. It does allow you to use different types of optic with different lengths of eye relief - I know this because I run everything from RDS/HWS/Prism/thermal and conventional FFP 4-16 X 50. If you're going to comment please stick with facts. Not only does the stock reduce weight, it allows you to adjust your head position relative to an optic which helps with optics with short eye relief. Lots of misinfo on this firearm, mainly from the US. You head position changes when shooting prone relative to off hand - again good reason for adjustable stock.

      They're like 3X more expensive than the Trail even in the US.

    Ruger American, thrice the accuracy at a third of the cost. Mosberg too.
    Who knew looks increased price more than performance?
    I'm sorry, I just can't love a rifle doesn't shoot moa 90% of the time.

      When i was doing testing with my CZ600 Trail both 69gn and 77gn made a sub MOA grouping with first 5 shots and then it opens up.
      So maybe Mike and i are doing this incorrectly - i bet CZ would like us better if we start cherry picking our groupings and lie to naive UA-cam viewers :D

      @@PolenarTactical I live in Czechia and I wanted this rifle, than I saw some accuracy testing videos and I was disapointed. I see no reason why this rifle is not a good shooter, because all the rest of CZ rifles are very accurate and the barrel should be of the same quality.... It is the same with Sig Cross- very good looking rifle but groups are very poor.

      Yesterday I was consistently hitting a full-size figure target at 550m and a head/shoulders target at 430m with RUAG 69gn ammo, and I hadn't calculated my hold-overs. I'm totally satisfied with that performance out of a backpack rifle. I'm tempted to get a CZ 600 Alpha just to make the comparison and I'd expect it to be better due to conventional stocking-up but we'll see...

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  4 місяці тому

      Oh, and the accuracy claim from CZ on the Alpha is 1 MOA with 3 shot groups lol... So I don't expect it to do *much* better than the Trail over 10 rounds.

      There's certainly a few points that can be improved on, but I spent part of yesterday morning nailing full-height figure targets at 550m and a head/shoulders target at 430m. Which is not at all bad from a .223 backpack gun with a telescoping butt.

      @@BlokeontheRange Agreed, enjoying mine and getting decent groupings out at 400m without any effort whatsoever using Blitz king. Its about an 18 inch drop at ~ 400m (about 1.4MIL off a 40 yd - 270 yd zero), so easy peasy. I liked it sufficiently enough to buy a FFP scope for it. Haven't gone beyond 400m as I see it ideally suited out to around 300m which is the approx point the round losses its ability to fragment well.

    I see this as a solution for a politically caused problem while we are giving all kinds of things to other nations . In America we kinda still have the second amendment in the non free zone’s of our country. Did you watch our president’s state of the union address? I don’t know where our country is going he is causing much division

    For a rifle that costs over 1000 Euros, this is a garbage rifle. You can buy a real rifle for this money.
