I've always felt like there was something almost asmr-like about the original voice acting for Elora. like, I'm not sure if it was the actress or the recording equipment but the subtle little pops on the Ps and Ts were so organic and kinda lovely
Im so glad theres someone else out there who likes this about 2, the loud plosives in the voice clips are one of the specially distinctive things that make me love it.
In terms of improvement, I think the best has got to be the endings to 3. I love the new cutscenes as is. They are so adorable with their updated expressions, but 3 has got to be the epitome of cute. Elora and Spyro have some wonderful chemistry and the secret ending is so much better with Spyro interacting more positively with the baby dragons.
I never got a chance to play Spyro when I was younger (I was basically a baby when it came out), but I'm really amazed that I could just recognize some of the voice actors right away. Also yes, there's a STARK CONTRAST between two decades worth of work but it's beautiful. I wish I got to play it when I was younger.
I love how much more expressive everyone is in Reignited Trilogy! I also like how there are a few new lines in the Year of the Dragon remake like at 36:21 and 59:42
And at 22:43 Ripto’s line, “Gulp! Finish him off and you can have all the fairies you can eat! I’m going to enjoy this…!” was eschewed from the remaster. 45:04 52:38 59:07 New lines there too.
I know everyone's chuffed with the high quality graphics of the remake, but it's also interesting how different the cutscenes are in terms of tone or little inflections. There's details in the voice acting and little touches in the animations that alter some of the character's personalities in small ways, and the music is very different too. Not better or worse I stress! It's just unique, and I'm glad to have this video around to see them side by side c:
I like how they kept the cartoon violence. They hardly changed the original scripting at all. Ripto straight up burns to death in lava and they kept it in. I'm happy that this doesn't suffer from too much new age censorship.
Well we dont really get to see ripto burn in the lava in the remake it was more like an off screen death. The sorceress however we get to see her fucking melt.
Loved spyro as a kid. The reignited took a different but beautiful approach. One of the few 'remakes' that stayed true to tge original gameplay but reignited it... it was great to see so much detail. But played the same so the memories came back and the appreciation for the new graphics. In this rare instance it's sort of the best of both.
The only one gripe I had was it would have been awesome to see the original end credits and theme with upgraded graphics. Although with the free fly mod available we are able to do so in game :)
I always try to stay level headed in 'new vs old' and while many games suck really hard with remakes and capturing the tone of the old ones; Spyro Trilogy did a really fine job.
>everyone around you freeze into crystals, possibly dead Spyro: "l0oKs LiKE i'Ve gOt s0Me THiNgS t0 dO." >villain proceeds to ignore the one dragon that got away right in front of his TV view Such cinematic genius. 👏
I always find two things funny where Aussie characters are involved. 1. Sometimes the English VA is just slightly off so it was nice to hear an Australian play an Australian. 2. So often they use Aussie terms that I never hear any Aussies use, for example, wahzoo.
Everyone who worked on this game had to know that Reignited had a lot to live up to. While I myself don't have the nostalgia for these games that others do (I only had Ripto's Rage as a kid, bought it because I had money burning a hole in my pocket, but never beat it) I know people, both online and in real life, who could tell you these nice stories about how Spyro defined their childhood and taste in gaming and gush about the memories of these games. But even I can say that Toys for Bob NAILED it. Not only does the game make tons of QOL updates that were sorely needed, not only are the controls as smooth as butter and feel great, not only are the games fun both for casual players and die hard completionists, but these cutscenes...my god. Everything about this game looks and sounds amazing. The actors breathe life into their characters and sound like they're having fun voicing them. The animators made these already charming cutscenes ten thousand times better, and the artists made believable changes to characters. The updates to the character designs, be they as drastic as Sheila's or as basic as Bentley's, look amazing, no one looks out of place. Even the little things like Sargent Byrd waddling, Shelia giving Moneybags the Stink eye while she's in her cage, and the extra details, big or small, in the cutscenes, all of it oozes charm, and you can tell that this is a labor of love. Toys for Bob can hold their heads up high having this game on their resume. It's not perfect, but then, what is a perfect game, and what gives you the right to decide that for everyone else? I am about halfway through Year of the Dragon and I'm having a ball with it. Bravo, Toys for Bob, Bravo. You fine ladies and gentlemen made the game great for both the fans of the original and for newcomers, and that's something worth patting yourself on the back over.
I can also say that I have no nostalgia for the original trilogy I only ever owned a hero’s tail as a kid and I never finished it and later I was prevented from playing past a certain point cause the disk kept freezing.
I really miss old Hunter and Bianca though. Hunter used to come off as dumb in a bro way, but the new seems dumber and more of a wimp. And Biana felt sassier an more driven. This one seems more innocent and soft spoken. They aren't bad by any means, I just hold the old ones near and dear bc Year of the Dragon and Enter the Dragonfly were *massive* parts of my childhood.
Tom Kenny - Spyro - The Professor - Sgt. James Byrd André Sogliuzzo: Sparx Michael J. Gough: Gnasty Gnorc Gregg Berger - Ripto - Crush & Gulp Richard Tatum: Agent 9 Everyone else (including Hunter) was recasted here
I know this is an old comment, but technically Crush and Gulp didn't have voices in 2, Greg voiced them first in Enter the Dragonfly where they actually spoke English. I'm glad they had him do the grunts for them in Reignited, though. I'm not surprised the rest were replaced. A lot of the actors have become either high in demand, like Neil Ross, or are on the cusp of retiring, like Pamela Hayden.
I’ve been a Spyro fan since I can remember. I love these games. I really was blown away by the remake. Despite its amazing quality I still prefer the OG soundtrack and character designs even though they were simpler
One thing I’ve noticed: the remaster of the cutscene at 21:59, Ripto’s laughter now echoes as the flags change to reflect his takeover of the castle. Nice touch.
Can we talk about how in the original the professor from out of nowhere his glasses were "broken", like that entire scene just made me laugh with how nonsensical it was.
17:52 so, really quick, I think Crush hitting the side of the portal is a joke of how in the original Ripto's Rage game, Hunter put in the coordinates by just touching the side of the portal, just saying Edit: here's proof. 14:27
The comparisons are really nice. Seeing how they improved. It would be cool if the old voice actors were the voice actors for the new version but the animation is spot on!
Just finished Spyro 3 Reignited. Honestly, I kind of now want Toys For Bob to make their own version of Spyro 4 that continues from the third game and ignores the other sequels.

I have to admit; out of all things I was looking forward to in HD, it was Elora kissing Spyro. D'awwwww
They are kinda adorable together 😂👍🏻

Her new voice is adorable.
Wait...WHAT?!?
I've always felt like there was something almost asmr-like about the original voice acting for Elora. like, I'm not sure if it was the actress or the recording equipment but the subtle little pops on the Ps and Ts were so organic and kinda lovely
I actually hate it but thats just me
I prefer them too.
Im so glad theres someone else out there who likes this about 2, the loud plosives in the voice clips are one of the specially distinctive things that make me love it.
“What’s a minion?”
“Uhhh...never mind.”
Can you explain this to me? I played all the games so long ago I can’t remember 😅
I don’t get the joke?
In terms of improvement, I think the best has got to be the endings to 3. I love the new cutscenes as is. They are so adorable with their updated expressions, but 3 has got to be the epitome of cute. Elora and Spyro have some wonderful chemistry and the secret ending is so much better with Spyro interacting more positively with the baby dragons.
Man, they really went miles above and beyond for this project. Absolutely amazing!

Don't get me wrong, the Reignited trilogy did a great job remodeling the characters, but sometimes I miss their cute little muppet mouths.

@@awesomegoatz3956 That was the beauty of the old graphics.
It just doesn't feel the same. I'm on the fence about this remake.
I mean after 20 years it probably wasn't going to feel exactly the same, but it stays pretty true to the original overall.

Sigh, 10 out of 10 would worship her boots.
I like how they kept the cartoon violence. They hardly changed the original scripting at all. Ripto straight up burns to death in lava and they kept it in. I'm happy that this doesn't suffer from too much new age censorship.
Except-t for the ‘goop guns.’ :P
Actually the epilogues in the originals showed that Ripto survived that but the remake cut those for some reason.
@@V-Jes Probably to avoid remaking Enter The Dragonfly! Haha
@@DanteKingOfSin or none of the developers unlocked that considering that's the reward for doing all the skill points in 2 and 3.
The fact that they got Clementine herself, Melissa Hutchinson as Bianca's voice actor is great to me honestly.
With the original graphics, the ending was so jarring. Spyro had such a concerned expression on his face, and the music was unsettling
I always thought that too. In year of the dragon the last cutscene after you complete the super bonus round left me feeling eerie...

I always find two things funny where Aussie characters are involved.
1. Sometimes the English VA is just slightly off so it was nice to hear an Australian play an Australian.
2. So often they use Aussie terms that I never hear any Aussies use, for example, wahzoo.
Hunter used to be so scary but now he's adorable
Bianca is even more Lola Bunny now.
The developers of the new game should be fired and shut down forever so they don't make bad games.
I can also say that I have no nostalgia for the original trilogy I only ever owned a hero’s tail as a kid and I never finished it and later I was prevented from playing past a certain point cause the disk kept freezing.
@@MayaMitori Ouch, sorry to hear.
Reporter: "What's a Minion?"
Spyro: "Uh, nevermind."
Elora and Bianca look phenomenal. And don't even get me started on Agent 9. Nice job designers.

I know this is an old comment, but technically Crush and Gulp didn't have voices in 2, Greg voiced them first in Enter the Dragonfly where they actually spoke English. I'm glad they had him do the grunts for them in Reignited, though. I'm not surprised the rest were replaced. A lot of the actors have become either high in demand, like Neil Ross, or are on the cusp of retiring, like Pamela Hayden.
the originals have their own charm and mystique. The new and the old can't be compared to be honest, just different styles of graphics.
