Let me just say that I fucking hate Spyro. That series, in my opinion, is the epitome of a generic and bland Mario 64 ripoff. Despite this very strong negative opinion on the subject matter, I still watch and enjoy all of your videos about these games that aren't a livestream. You have a great talent!

I know that the devs shortened the range that Sparx can collect gems on and also removed his ability to collect gems while Spyro is on the air. I wonder if they did that just for people to be able to try this.

So I know this is 2 years late, but the reason Sparx doesn't magnet to gems in speedways is because the gems exist within the targets, so it wouldn't just be pointless but also noticeably annoying if he was constantly zipping to each object
How about trying to do something similar in Spyro 3 Reignited Trilogy, with the Infinite Flight glitch carried over from Spyro 2 into a new game of Spyro 3.
I doubt that it's going to be both gemless and eggless though,
It's a completely different game from the classic PS1 version of Spyro 3, as they removed the duplicate invisible portal entrances in the remaster.
I'd presume the speedways were the last things built, they're not relevant to story, they're just side missions, presumably giving them the last sequential number before the boss fight (e.g. Ocean Speedway is 7, Crush is 8), possibly just a programming oversight.

Isn't there a cheat you can enter to unlock all the abilities? I know there was in the original game, that could be a way around needing to learn to swim, climb etc too.

i did something like this in the orginal spyro games ( i forget wich one ) i found a few glitchs to do it

@@irabbit_ Spyro hasn't been patched in a few months or whenever it came out on the Switch was the last time it was patched. At this point why patch the game it's not hurting anyone for people wanting to exploit a game for a WR or just speedrunning.

Not picking gems is pretty easy since Sparx doesn't work at all
facts, i hate the way sparks works now, every single level he misses gems and im constantly backtracking around the lvl getting gems, that HE SHOULD HAVE GRABBED. thank god there's a mod for the pc version witch re enabled the mulit layer and jumping collections states for sparks. it's not perfect. but it's pretty close to the way it used to work in the OG 's

Using one save file to set up glitches to move spyro's location around in another save file to bypass currency checks is NOT the same thing as using NG+ and you know it, and you didn't even earn the NG+ super breath anyway and used the save glitch to get that too. I really hate these non-challenges where instead of showing us skillful play to circumvent seemingly impossible situations, you just give yourself "permission" to use outrageously ludicrous allowances for the sake of winning the challenge. What's next? You going to allow game genie, or just straight up mod the game to allow yourself to complete "challenges"?

Get a physical copy, and try to have a convincing fist fight with a cart or disc.
Finally, a more expensive speedrun than Harvest Moon for the SNES.

So you are required to collect a gem to start up any of the glitches, rendering it impossible, by the video title.
If the video was beat it without the game displaying you collected gems in the main save file... yes.
I don't know, maybe it is just me, but I find things like this as very unimpressive when you have to bend the rules and literally break the rule to do something, especially when that very rule you break is the video title. You know what, this comment is a bit mean... I'm not going to leave it.

Although I know next to nothing about the Spyro games, I have to admit your commentary is really enjoyable and I'm thinking of playing the original PS games now.

School + I had a burnout after that video I did with Cheese. Was really hard to touch Sony Vegas after that. Atm my motivation is really high to create consistent content and I’ve been working 8-10 hours everyday to try to make that happen.

Beating the game "without collecting a single gem, talisman or orb"? But how do you leave Glimmer without getting the talisman? Just straight up skipped that entirely... and if you're somehow not getting it why does Sparx collecting a gem when you get the talisman even matter? Not even 2 minutes in and already getting some very mixed signals here...

Love your videos, but you did not do a great job explaining the glitches in this one imo. I still have no idea how most of this worked.
Sorry about that, the glitches are very complicated. I watched the video back to see if there was a better way to explain everything, but there wasn’t. If you could tell me which part you didn’t understand I could try to reexplain.
EZScape mostly the level storage
@@TooMuchDad So to put it more simply we are loading 2 levels at the same time. In order to load Gulp and a speedway at the time we have to activate the retry button for the speedway to load the speedway, all while the cutscene for Gulp is going on, and when that cutscene ends the game tries to load Gulp. So if I get the retry option in the speedway up while the cutscene is playing I can press X to retry the speedway and then quickly press triangle to skip the cutscene. This will load the speedway first, and then Gulp, but since Gulp is technically loaded second this is where I end up. If I kill Spyro it will reload the speedway while remaining in Gulp and they'll both be active at the same time. From now on until I manually close the game with the PS4 menu the speedways will be present. Doesn't matter if I quit the game, exit levels, make new games, or even play in Spyro 1 or 3. Hopefully this clears it up, and is more understandable in text. If you understand this, object storage might make more sense too.

There've been plenty of games where I've just casually fallen through the floor, or brute forced my way out of bounds by bonking walls incessantly (I swear that has to be some reflex you just get from old 3D platformers). Actually, I don't really remember playing any games I couldn't wiggle out of bounds in some weirdly intuitive way, at least in the "3D walkaround" genres. I just think the people who set up Autumn Plains' collision deserve a box of good donuts.
Technically, you can't do that in Super Mario 64, but that's because "out of bounds" is actually a defined area, and it both has the property of stopping Mario if he tries to move into it, and if Mario finds a a glitch that lets him bypass that (there's one in Bob-omb battlefield, for example), a second safeguard activates at the start of the frame, and instantly kills Mario.
Everything in SM64 is "skybox", not out of bounds.

You may find this strange, but for Spyro 1 you only need 10 dragons to beat the game and no gems.
As for Spyro 3 - sadly you can't. Even if you pick up level storage - there is no way to bypass even at least 100 eggs cause there's no skip to Sorceress door. But level storage greatly speed up the game so it's better than nothing :)
@@ShingerZero actually you need 70 dragons to progress to Dream Weavers and 6000 gems to progress to Gnasty's World

I am genuinely amazed by some of the ways the speedrunning community gets past what developers have in place to avoid breaking their games, I respect the ability you have to see into the game in ways the developers probably didn't expect.
Here is an idea, a list of easter eggs found during speedruns/because of a speedrun. There has got to be at least once instance where someone clipped through a wall or bad texture and found something odd.
As this is the reignited version...
I suppose the glitch popping you out the speedway gate makes some sense because of the flight animation between worlds.
I noticed that unlike the original game all the flight controls kinda work during loading. Including the air roll and flame.breath as well as pitching. So I assume glitches to do with what world you should be in pair with that flight animation state being active... which if you were in any level it would only make sense to a speedway.
Got it to work, but I exit Metro Speedway instead of Icy Speedway. Thanks for the vid :)

I tried this in original spyro 3, and guess what. The game has invisible gems that immediadly teleport to your location when you touch certain floors. Dick move insomniac.

How the hell did you have the energy to keep quitting, copying a previous save from a USB, just to try a level again from getting a gem? You need to sit through those logos every time plus loading, I wouldn't do it. And I backed up my file between every episode of my LPs of the 3 games!
So this game's easy to glitch thanks to Activision rushing them.
