My dad was one of the hardest working people I have ever known, he farmed for 40 years and built a great farm to leave to my sisters and I, but we are going to have to sell 1/3rd of that farm to pay the tax when we inherit the farm... Do we really ever own anything? Miss your tax payment and they just take it all away... Might as well just live in a tent in Toronto, hard work doesn't get you anywhere anymore in Canada. Sad state of affairs...

Worst thing is our generation needs to something major to change things, all the power is held by people who are approaching or already elderly age. Capital Gains Tax is dumb period ! The government did not make it work nor earn any of it.
They say it often enough and loud enough so we believe we have no hope. We think when they order us to take an experimental invasive treatment, we just line up like cattle.

That still has nothing to do with them raising the capital gains tax. You still have to pay federal and provincial income taxes and over half a dozen other taxes. The public sector needs to be slashed by 70%.

RCMP, Provincial cop and municipal cop, justice system and military all sore their oath of office to the crown. They are all corporations which have nothing to do with we the living. You can only contract with like kind. Which means, corporation with corporation and living with living. Ballentine law dictionary and the Uniform Commercial Code aka UCC. All those gains are Tax Free.

Holy 💩 that list of taxes seemed to never end. Canada’s capital gains tax is outrageous without the increases. In USA our capital gains tax is 20% . We have politicians pushing for a wealth tax. It just never seems to end.

I've never been able to figure why the owner / owners are so often seen as the bad guys. I've always respected my "boss" and his investment. Was I a "company" man? Yes, in the sense that I was earning a living wage with benefits and was glad to have it. I had no risk. I had no capital investment. I was free to pursue my own ambitions if I wished. If the company wasn't able to turn a profit I'd soon be down the road. So, why would anyone want to bust their ass, risk everything with knowing the "taxman" will be taking a huge chunk, on top of the huge chunk they've already been taking? Maybe we can all live off our backyard gardens while watching our wind generator sit idle 70% of the time. At least we'll have the time to fill out all the assistance forms😢

For the first time in my parents lives, they are opening up their eyes, they can’t ignore it anymore, as seniors now, and they cannot afford anything extra in life, because groceries and taxes, gas takes all their measly CPP money each month.

There should also be an esculation clause on the amount of capital gains owing based on the value of future money. If you buy something as an example for 100,000 and twenty years later sell it for 200,000 but inflationary costs in 20 years have doubled then that money you gained would only buy you the equivalent to the 100,000 you invested. You have gained nothing and so should not owe any money
