Lia, shopping during the week makes much more sense. You will not have to deal with the crowds. You are lucky you are not tied down to a 9 to 5 daily grind. It's always better to take your time when picking out home furnishings. You will know what you want when you see it. I like your idea of changing the covers on your pillows every season. You definitely need some color. A light teal would be nice, or get some pillows with a neutral color on one side, like a grey, and a teal or blue color on the other side. That way you can do every other pillow with color, alternating with grey. You can also do all teal; then, when you get bored with teal just flip them over to the neutral side. That way you get variety without having to go out and buy all new stuff.

Sounds likes your Home Sense is equivalent to our Home Goods which is equivalent to Disneyland!
TJMaxx (TKMaxx to Brits) owns Home Goods and Home Sense; Home Sense just opened it's first store in America in 2017 in Massachusettes with one slated to open in New Jersey thereafter.
That Home Sense looks even better than Home Goods!
I got a good laugh out of the chicken lamp and “skellingtons.” It’s funny how watching someone else shop can be so entertaining!
It's fun to buy new things for your home. You will know when you find the best pillows or whatever. After all, you are the one that has to look at your home everyday. It's fun to take friends along but they don't have your good taste in decorations. Thanks for taking us along on your fun trip. Take care🌺

You can never have too many clocks. You have to have at least one in every room.:-)
I love them as far as design /wall hangings. As long as you can tolerate all that ticking, I had a relative that collected grandfather clocks and had about 10, one in every room and although a lot of them didn't chime, too many of them did! LOL
I was thinking teal cotton pillows with a pattern would look lovely in your living room. Hopefully you'll find the exact ones you'll want to buy☆

@@dlcalbaugh Unfortunately I'm from America, but I don't think I'll mind as much after 2020. I married into the Vaughn family and they don't seem to know much about their ancestors except that they were German and came to the U.S. during WWII. Good luck with your search.

What's your favorite color, Lia? What is Ach's? There was a light blue cup in your living room. That would be a nice color. Maybe a couple of darker shades of blue to go with it for Winter. That cup is on the white tray @ 9:50.
Love Tk Maxx and UK's home furnishings stores. Joel looks great in that jacket. Very mid-season colours combination.

I know neutrals are in, but color brings character. Yellow is my fav color. My kitchen is pretty yellow, blue living room, green bathroom, lavender bathroom, and peach bedroom. Love color!

Definitely take your time to find the perfect things for your new home. I've made the most common mistake in rushing about buying everything all at once when I've moved. Regrets!!!
We have been in our new home for 6 weeks now, our first purchased home
No more renting! We purged load after load of items collected over a lifetime that were gathering dust in bins and boxes, and took up so much space. For our new home I had watched a great UA-cam video explaining principles of interior design, as well as how to get the right look you have dreamed up in your mind. Key takeaways were take your time! If it takes a couple of years to fully complete to your dream, that is a good thing. Buy what you love and won't be out of style in 2 years. Buy classic expensive pieces (sofas, chairs, dining furniture, cabinetry, desks, bedroom furnishings, etc). By buying quality items in classic styles and colors you will love your furniture for a long time. You then can go "trendy" with cushion designs, art works, tchotchkes etc. Bring colors and trendy items in that way. Easy to redo when trends change. Swap some tchotchkes, recover cushions with totally different color/patterns, swap a few pieces of wall art. Whole new look. Not a ton of money. We have been focused on the big items for our new home, stuck to classic shapes and styles of furniture that we will always love and will look fab even 15 yrs from now. Yet once completed with complimentary colorful accessories our home will not look "classic or stuffy or dated". Its been tons of fun once I changed my mindset and have stuck to buying slowly over time and only when the perfect item is finally found.
Also: dont waste $ on "guest dishes". So many ppl buy expensive sets to hide away for company only. What a shame! Use your beautiful things everyday. Breakfast cereal in your fancy dishes will elevate your breakkie. I swear lol.
Been loving your apartment deco updates! Once you find the perfect cushions please feel free to DM with their cover dimensions and some alternate color/pattern ideas. I'd love to get fabric that you'll love when swapping covers from time to time and make some covers and mail them across the pond for you.
Often it's my best bet of finding exactly the color and pattern and texture that I want.
Pro tip: buy best quality cushions possible when on bargain prices. It's the cushion itself that is quality and makes them expensive. They will hold shape for years and years. So even if ugly cover, if you see a blow out sale on amazing quality cushions, buy how many you need even if they are a awful color. It takes anyone with basic beginner sewing skills to whip together a gorgeous cushion cover in no longer than about 40 minutes max. Bonus is this works for even non-traditional shaped cushioned which are popular. Easy to whip up matching curtains/sheets in complimentary colors or pattern too. Couple times a year a quick cushion and curtains swap can change your entire space. Storage is minimal as well.
P.S. not joking about making you some covers. Joel as well if he would like a set for his new flat. Canadian winters are soooooo long. It's my crafty season now until we get warm again (so, like, 6 months from now at least).
Also, when undecided on color pallet it can help to find the perfect decorator area rug that would look great with your furniture pieces and that you fall in love with. Draw color inspiration from within the area rug to then look for cushions and deco items. It's super helpful and gets you focusing better and clearly on specific items instead of isles filled with a gazillion options
I love HomeGoods in my town of Norman, Oklahoma. I can always find a lovely bargain to make my home more cozy.
Lia, did you know there is a Dunelm at that retail park too? It’s right at the far end, tucked around the corner, past Pets At Home. You might find more cushions in there!

We've lived in our apartment for 13 years and have never painted. Hardly decorated. Every year I say I'm going to do something, then think what if we decide to move this year? But we never do.
Lisa Anderson painting a few of the walls when we moved into our apartment was one of the best decisions we ever made. The paint work isn’t perfect, but it makes it so homey! (Or homely, for the British!)

I'm also doing neutral, beige cream and am also adding a tiny punch of color seasonally to sofas with interchangeable cushion cover and throws! I am sewing and crocheting mine, so I can pick out exactly the fabrics I want. We're only about ½ hour from the huge fabric district in Los Angeles. Do you sew?

@@liahatz thanks Lia, we are at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California...loving the slower pace and cleaner air. BTW, you could always use fabric glue or iron on hemming to make your pillows, with velcro closure...would make a great diy vlog.😊
