I made this for my daughter for Christmas and it turned out amazing. I have made several of your drawstring bags in other versions and I love them all, but I have to say it has a LOT to do with your excellent tutorials. I search endless tutorials on you tube and I find yours to be the absolute best for me. They are thorough yet you don't drag things out so long that I lose interest. You move right along without missing any crucial steps that a total beginner would need to make a project. Thank you SO much. My projects have brought me so much joy !
Can I just say that I have used this tutorial for reference at least 50 times since I left my last review. Everything from how to most efficiently box the corners( using the angled lines on ruler) to the absolute most secure way to make the opening for a drawstring, this time for a simple Christmas gift bag. Your techniques are always the best of the best. Thanks again and again!
making mine with leather bottom and canvas at the top with a liner... have the exterior finished... looking nice... had to come back and see how to do the interior lol will use leather for handles and add a snap in the middle oh... and... i also embroidered a lil sumsin on the front and back sooo much fun once again, tyfs :)
Thanks so much for this wonderful tutorial! I just sew today a bag for the first time and it came out really nice thanks to your easy-to-follow video!!
Thanks for the video. I am returning to sewing since I retired. I started with quilt making several years ago. I wanted to make some smaller projects. You select the prettiest printed fabrics. I love all your videos. Such practical pieces! Many area on my list to do. I like this one too! Have a great day!
Erica, another wonderful tutorial. I like that you used leather handles and a drawstring. I love how you do your box corners, you make it look so easy. I struggle nesting the seams. I will get it one of these times! Thanks for sharing your bloopers (this time it sounded like Jason was there too!), at the end and as always including Jax. ❤ to you and your family, stay safe.
Hello Erica i really love your videos with the drawstring bags English is not my native language but i understand your instructions Thank you all the best Greetings from Germany
Thank you Erica. Loved your drawstring bag, you made the tutorial so easy to follow. I made it a bit smaller for my 3 year old grandchild. She will love it!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've just finished up my first bag and I can't believe I actually made something that looks so nice? Thank you so much for sharing! 💕💕💕
I am going to try this beautiful bag. Your tutorial is easy to follow, and you give great instructions. I love the outtakes at the end. You have a great sense of humor. Thank you.
You made that look so easy! I watched another doing the same thing and it was very confusing. I love Jax. There is no such thing as a finished project without a cat’s approval. :)
Another great tutorial. I happen to be making bags today again. I will be trying this one. My craft room looks like one big bag factory. I love these bags for my crochet and knitting projects. Thank you for sharing with us. Love your furry helper.
I absolutely love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ your channel! I really like the way you outline our measurements and how you go thru the entire process. I also love adding the handles. I’m almost done with mine and I really like the way it’s coming out.
Have you used the new basting powder... you just sprinkle some on your project and heat set it...i have been using it on small projects and I really like it....
I am going to make this drawstring bag as my first sewing project. Wonderful tutorial. I do have a question….you mention finger pressing the “ hem” of the string channel. Will those unsewn edges fray whenever I open or close the drawstrings? Thanks for your help.
Hi Erica! I made this today and I really love it 😍 I’m a newbie and I can say that your instructions are easy to follow. One thing that was a bit challenging for me was the inner lining. I made it twice, but still couldn’t get a prefect fit. I don’t know if I miss something from your pattern, but it’s bigger than the bag itself.
Hi, if you're lining is too baggy, just sew it with a bit larger seam allowance than the outside of your bag. So if you use a 1/4" for the outside, use 3/8" for the lining and that should fix it :)
Nice bag Erica! Loving the handles. So much easier to take with you when handles are added. I love your drawstring bags. Going to make a couple of these for my projects. Jax is so funny. Such a cool cat!!! Stay safe & happy!
I absolutely love your bags, you are a fabulous teacher Erica. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful expertise and talent with us all. Keep safe Everyone. Big hugs and loves xxxxxxx Dorothy U.K. 😘❤️🌟🙋🏻
Thank you for all the wonderful ideas and tutorials. I have made several of your things and quilts and pillows, I love them all! Especially during this time it is nice to look forward to your videos and fun projects! Thank you for doing them.
Erica I love this bag & want to make it but can I clarify something? At 10:56 you state that the first drawstring line is one half an inch from the top edge. It looks like one & a half inch to me, but I want to be sure I get it right. Thank you for your help.
Today is another day and I re-watched the video and found my mistake. How dumb of me, I was able to complete this project today and it turned out great. All is well that ends well.
Thank you so much Erica for another fabulous tutorial!!! The bag is so beautiful!! I now know exactly what I will be sewing today :) You and your family stay safe.
Lovely. 🫶🙏🌷Thank you. Is there a formula, do you know, to get a perfectly square base? This would be a good activity bag for kid’s toys on the go if it was square.
Matching zippered pouches for those little items in your purse that get lost at the bottom would be an awesome addition!
You have demonstrated this so beautifully...Thank you for a wonderful tutorial.😊
Good morning from Canada. This really was a super video. Thank you for not having music in thr background while you were teaching. Much appreciated 🎉

The after show bloopers make me feel so good. Sewing is fun but not always a perfectly smooth process. Lol. I love your show and projects.

I love this bag though I would miss out the handles and use the drawstring as handles. I'm now off to see what fabric I have!! Thank you!
A must try bag. I didn't see where the leather strapping came from, or I may have missed it. Easy to follow tutorial. Thank you!

Lovely. 🫶🙏🌷Thank you.

I'm not sure if there is a formula, but you can pin the corners in place to test it until you get it to the size you prefer, then sew it.
So pretty!
I'll have to get me some faux leather 😋
