watching your Z3 videos over and over again..I think I've memorised where every nut and bolt is now!... thanks so much Steve..I'll soon be doing this on my Z3 !!
This is super excellent. Inspiring to get deep into my Z3 coupe that has the same symptoms, now at about 125k miles. Thank you for the thoroughness and quality!
I wish you got more views and recognition. You are a world class worker and specialist with your mechanical knowledge. I love just relaxing and learning while watching/listening to your videos.
I skipped the recap because I had faithfully watched all the earlier installments so hope I didn't miss anything important but I am very glad it all works well and you're happy! I do have to say, though, that (LOL) at the opening sequence in the garage at the very beginning what flashed through my mind for a second was "Wow, that Z3 looks fantastic from the back, looks like a supercar..." (errr.. sorry... ) :)
This series was about the jobs that everybody should do, but few really care enough. Great job as always and looking forward to whatever is coming next.
Great series! I learned many things I've always wanted to know. most youtubbers skip some basic knowledge. what type of business refurbished the diff? Ballpark charge for doing the work? Thank you. love your style of teaching.
@@D3Sshooter Yes that is very true I am surprised over the years how much they have come down on prices, like 2.5k euros can get a 3.5ton lift, But Contrete flooring needs to be re done not thick enough for that :/
I was very curious about the bad half prop-shaft, but only saw the good one. Have I missed something or you couldn't shoot it? Anyway, nice series and job you made. Congrats for the channel.
Hi Steve- I have a 1.9 and I feel it’s back side is always a bit nervous . It feels shifting from left to right - is it slip diff in action due to road or is it an issue with slip diff ? This is the first time I drive a rear wheel . Would appreciate your answer
Well, the 1.9 does not have the LSD Diff, only the 2.8 and 3 L. So, that can't be the issue . But you might have an issue with the suspension or Diff mounting ... what do you mean with shifting left -right ?
@@D3Sshooter thanks a lot for your reply. I need to check what diff is on my car. I was told it’s 30 percent lad. What I mean by shifting is that at certain times the back end feels like swaying from left to right (even when the road is seemingly flat)
@@sumeesa well if its a standard diff and nobody modified it , then it can't be a Torsen LSD, easy check is lift the car on both side in the back. rotate by hand one wheel and hold the other by hand slightly , you should feel that the one held will try to move in the same direction as the other. If that is the case then its a LSD. if it does not try to move in the SAME direction then its not... I suspect that your rear suspension and or rear axel bushes are gone a well known issue
@@sumeesa The 1.9 came with an optional plate type diff, never the torsen. These are more robust and unless actually broken (Then they will cause all kinds of issues), won't cause any clunking. Noise when making a power transfer can be caused bij a lot of different issues. From engine mounts, flywheel, to drive shafts and all rubbers in between.
This is the best car repair summary video I have ever seen. Way underrated youtuber.
Really appreciate the time you put into these videos … the quality is fantastic, as well as the content of course!
My pleasure TXS
