South east Texas here . We like the gumbo too . Some times we just fry the okra crispy and add it to the bowl at the table , it’s good that way , try it !
Nice! I grew up on my Mom’s version of this dish. She added bacon instead of sausage and didn’t add peppers. Only onions and garlic with some other seasonings. I would add grilled corn straight off the cob to this version. It’s already bangin’! 🤷♂️💯🔥💥😁
Looks good AB with a good pan of corn bread and AB I don't have meat masher I use a potato marsher the few recipes I have tried were wonderful thank you and God bless because God's glory is all of our morning glory
I grow lots of okra in my backyard garden because it is so delicious. Stewed okra and tomatoes with andouille sausage is a great meal. Thanks for putting it all together.
Hi AB, that's the way my Big Mama taught me to get rid of the slime. If we had fresh corn, I'd add that along with extra lean ground beef into the mix. This is a great fall dish. Thank you bringing back such wonderful memories. 😊
That is a interesting take on Okra and tomatoes. AB if you are ever in Mississippi and want okra and tomatoes go to the dinner bell in McCome. I grew up with okra and tomatoes in south Louisiana but never had any as good as at the dinner bell.
This reminds me so much of my family's cooking, the way you cook is the exact same way we did it. Only difference is that we used olive oil a lot. Ima make this the moment i can
AB man that is FIRE hands down I know yo grandma also showed you how to squash and onion 🧅 show us dat one ☝🏽 to man come on wit it….!!! 👍🏽 I watch y’all all the time
Where's the jumbo shrimp? I put them in mine with dried shrimp too. Try it you'll love it. Your dish looked delicious and I know it was. Much love AB. Keep on cooking great food.
The only thing I would add to this, besides more okra, is a little sugar. Also another way for people that do not like slimy okra is to try it grilled as well as oven roasted. I grew up in Mississippi with boiled slimy okra, fried okra, okra and tomatoes. It is all good.
Okay! AB! You sold me on this Stewed Okra Recipe!! Man o Man was it good! I am keeping this recipe forever!! The only thing I added was a tablespoon of sugar to cut down on the acidity a little bit. But Other than that! You hit this one out of the ball park, better than any my Grandmother or my Mother made and they were some serious cooks! Hats off to you sir!!! Thank you so much! Oh and the best thing about it, is this dish is all mine! My husband doesn't like Okra! Yay for me!!
Good morning AB I really like cooking this thank you so much I really appreciate it see you again as always loved your VIDEO keep them coming looking forward to seeing what is New a learning something new from you have a bless day today so happy on your VIDEO
Brother! Am in thee UK, And people are celebrating the day before carnival day, which I don't, Due to this day was given to slave's for getting crops back in the day in Jamaica for the Devil, so I don't! But! watching your video's is always tight! remembering my mother and father's Jamaican cooking, Stay Amazing Sir Big up to L.A from the U.K 👌👌
I normally cut my okra and blanch them in hot water. Then skim the slime off the top. About 4-5 min. I strain off the rest and let them sit while I cook everything else before introducing the okra back to the pot to finish cooking. I’m going to try doing it this way to see if the results are better than what I do.
Hi AB I always add whole kernel corn I sometimes add ground beef or shrimp and bacon I haven't tried it with the sausage. I will be making it this way on Sunday Oh i have never tried it with red wine vinegar Thanks 😊
@SmokinandGrillinwithAB This dish looks fire 🔥 I think I woould try to keep the okra whole if possible as it would add another dimension to the dish. Can you get the sliminess out of okra if it’s whole?

You could bread the okra in corn meal and fry it before adding it.
