An issue I find with a lot of horror games, they're so hell bent on being a CRAZY experience and "oh boy, you'll never see this twist", to the point where there's very little ground work set for the actual story. Then it just ends on "And then we explain the whole plot in a video at the end"
To be fair, when designing a game, you have to write the story such that the "dumbest" players can grasp it. At least, that's usually the goal, since you want everyone to be able to understand your story. Oftentimes, this REQUIRES plot to be spoon-fed. This is not exclusive to horror games at all. I think this game did a pretty good job of setting up the clues and foreshadowing the ending. It gave you plenty of time to speculate and come up with the answer yourself, but then told it to you at the end, just in case you hadn't. I'd suspected Eddie and Stephen were the same person from the first time they showed "Eddie [smeared]", but it wasn't until I found out his wife was HIDING it, that it all made sense as to why they were constantly referred to as different people.
As weezact said, the game gave you a ton of clues some made it pretty obvious imo like when they were swapping seats at the desk. Also, as he said, not all people are able to understand the plot or clues and will need the help or to be told just to understand what occurred.
This is how I felt about Prey and I think it's seeping into bigger games. It's something that you can't really get away with in books and movies because people get bored, but in a game, there's still gameplay to keep you hooked, only to be even more let down because you were invested in it through time AND effort.
Ooh, yes, there's nothing like a good thunderstorm! I love it when it rains, and the thunder makes it even better! Also, the one thing I really liked about this game were some of the effects, like the twisting hallways and that part with the wheelchair, where the hallway was curving down as you sped through it, pretty cool!
Hmmm.. at 32:26 there is THREE men standing at the edge jumping in. So there is Stephen, and Edward, but was there a third split personality all along? That would be a cool twist right at the end but I missed any clues that would validate any of the candidates. Could have been the son Theodor was him as well, or Abraham the other psychologist. Maybe it means nothing at all though.
See this is interesting, i imagine this... System, im assuming they have DID which is caused by trauma during youth, its entirely possible that a new alter appeared...
I agree. Stephen mentions trying to merge his personalities. I think the final shot of the three of them falling into the pit was meant to represent Eddie, Stephen, and the third personality, the player, merging together as we finally regained the memories we had from our previous two personalities after being confronted with irrefutable evidence. I think Abraham was a real, distinct person, not a personality.
I only like to correct people when a learning experience is there. I'm not going to try to correct every your/you're or there/their/they're, but if I'm helping someone learn a word they don't know I'll inform them of the correct spelling. Some people appreciate the help, others not so much.
You know I think Hellblade has ruined me for all these "crazy main character" games it did psychosis so well and with such a deep understanding of the subject matter that these games just don't even come close to putting the right message or vibes across. this story is just a confused mess that isn't really saying anything outside of the usual bullshit of "crazy people are dangerous killers" which couldn't be further from the truth.
wait I was watching the lust game and this was the next in auto play. So I was confused what happened to lust'ghaa... and bam its not actually the lsut game anymore. I was so confused lmao
second iteration nickname. edward shortened to eddy eddy gets turned into teddy to imply endearment. same as richard gets shortened to rich and then rick to harden the c because ending in a ch sounds weird and eventually rick becomes dick with enough shenanigans.
I know I'm very late to this but please don't let this game be your only knowledge about DID. There's a stigma around DID and if you want to educate yourself I recommend searching 'Multiplicity and Me' on UA-cam .
Fun little game, but it didn't feel very original, story was boring, scares weren't very scary and the FUCKING SUBTITLES and weird English really bugged me. But yeah enjoyed watching Tom and Simon as always
You... clearly don't know what you're talking about? Teddy was the most common abbreviation for Edward for a long time and is still occasionally used now.
My middle name is Edward .... takes about 5-6 minutes before people get to Teddy, once they find out. It goes roughly like this "Edward? ... lol ... ooOOoohHHh Ed-ward (posh voice) ... aw'right Ed (common voice) .... hey Eddie ..... Yo Ted! .... s'up Teddy" Most people stop at Ted though, as this is the one that obviously annoys me ;D
Claps for Tom solving the puzzle quickly.
He's so very smort!
I wouldn't mind giving him the clap, if you know what I mean.
I should probably go to a doctor with that...

i used to love thunderstorms 'till my house got hit by lightning which cut the power lol
still love rain though, it's so relaxing
Oh yeah, power outages are definitely not as fun, so that's understandable. I used to like them as a kid though lol
And same, rain is so nice!
15:50 missed opportunity to say “I hear the Gardener really treats his Hoes well…”.
omg Tom's reaction to the morse code 😂😂😂
Harvey birdman sends his regards
Scotophobia can actually refer to either fear of the dark *or* fear of Scottish people
why not both?
Tom: *gets key*
Also Tom: *doesn't open locked box*
The fear of Scottish people is called common sense.
*Thousand yard stare as bagpipes play in the background*
can't blame someone for having a functional survival instinct i suppose XD
I love these references dear editor. Keep it up!

what if the player piecing together the truth is the third personality?
See this is interesting, i imagine this... System, im assuming they have DID which is caused by trauma during youth, its entirely possible that a new alter appeared...
I think the player was meant to be the third, Abraham

Nikola Wiche *are
5:45 the towel summoned a real life helicopter
Turns out he was Gollum all along! Who knew?!
Damn .. What a twist ..!
Seriously though , I bet if I watched the LP again , I would notice more things now ..
Or maybe not lol
so obvious xD
Would love to see an Until Dawn playthrough from you guys
@20:55 Tom is having flashbacks of the mores code from a few videos ago...
*Morse
Thanks spelling Nazi! I was actually wondering if I spelled that right or not, but I knew you would be around if not!
I only like to correct people when a learning experience is there. I'm not going to try to correct every your/you're or there/their/they're, but if I'm helping someone learn a word they don't know I'll inform them of the correct spelling. Some people appreciate the help, others not so much.
I appreciate your help, because I know how to spell the yours and theirs... but "morse" was something I didn't know! Thanks!
Here's an even better one: it's Morse code, capital M, because that's the last name of the guy that invented it. *The More You Know*
The bird-face man and mentions of schizophrenia just makes me think of Khonshu from Moon Knight.
(spoilers)Every time I come back to this series and see them react to the twist gives me great joy.
did they miss a toy at 19:17 or is that something else?
OMG you guys are great.
Please keep doing horror games with Simon!!
This game is seeming more and more like a poorly made Half-Life 2 map, at least during the weird dream/purgatory bit...
This was such a good game!
Yay!
Never seen them so invested.
Can you and simon start a new playthrough of Darkwood I really like the game, and its tone is perfect for spooky Simon.
you should play only if!
Why doesn't Simon have his proper beard in the thumb nail?
absolutely lost it when Tom said Edward Blurry

But I'm a crazy dangerous killer, so it must be true.
3% of crimez are committed by those with mental health. Its the normals you gotta worry about lol. That stats probs outdated by now though.
I remember the first time I saw it...
I never think about it but toms channel is actually pretty small compared to the rest of the yogscast
That's life.
That's what all the Goldblooms say.
You're riding high in April.
Dino DNA.
Maybe these games aren;t the most polished but their stories are so good.
Man the video of the girl at the end was a complete mess it's spooky defects are from like a hundred different film formats 😂
JOY
lol tom looks givin up.
The duck was in the Theo’s chest you didn’t open.
What's the game/video at 12:22?
The God Emperor of Mankind a way out
The wish granter from Big... yup, that's where those originated.
Shush
wait I was watching the lust game and this was the next in auto play. So I was confused what happened to lust'ghaa... and bam its not actually the lsut game anymore. I was so confused lmao
3:25 Isador Akios?
Anyone?
loved this series. way better than layers of fear imo
I really want you two to play the game Anatomy, its very creepy and its about a house, please read this and try it. Like this so they see
the name of the game pretty much spoiled the twist from the get go. but pretty well made so it was great anyway
She was a good lady...
Teddy is short for Edward?????????????????????????????????????????????
Yes, it can be. No, Teddy is not in "Edward". However, Teddy can be a shortened nickname for Edward.
Just like Chuck is short for Charles.
second iteration nickname.
edward shortened to eddy

The truth is that it was aliens the whole time
I mean it's always aliens right?
:o
Holy shit the subtitles and voice actors are insufferable. Other than that top notch gaming work, see
#BringBackSteamySaturdays

I miss ben
No, Eddie/Edward never gets shortened to Teddy. Of course they were different people. Edward = Ed(dy), Theodore = Ted(dy)
You... clearly don't know what you're talking about? Teddy was the most common abbreviation for Edward for a long time and is still occasionally used now.
Same way Richard gets shortened to Dick. Dichard is not a name.
My middle name is Edward .... takes about 5-6 minutes before people get to Teddy, once they find out. It goes roughly like this

Well I guessed the ending before it happened. It was pretty obvious really.
Should i watch the whole playthrough
Game doesnt seem interesting
Even if a game isn't interesting, Simon & Tom can always make it funny imo
DevilVocano - Tom and Simon make _ANY_ game playthrough worth watching.
Not going to lie, fairly Interesting plot.
The game is awful, but Simon and Tom are always top.
SPOILER BELOW.
Sorry but it was sooooo obvious Eddie was Stephen, I guessed that couple of episodes ago.
So did they
nikeeweston so did they?
fugy fruit it's obvious once you realise Stephendwrd is an acronym of Edwardstphen
I mean if you didnt guess it from the start after seeing the name of the game...
