  • Porsche models such as the Boxster, Cayman, and 911 (996 and 997) up to 2008 frequently experience AOS failures. A key indicator is excessive white or blue smoke from the exhaust upon starting or during intense driving phases. This happens when the faulty AOS lets oil into the combustion chamber. Other symptoms include higher oil usage, oil presence in the intake, uneven idling, or a distinct whistling noise from the engine. In severe cases, significant oil intake can lead to engine hydro-lock, causing extensive damage, including to cylinders, piston rings, and connecting rods. I think you mean "Yugo" and they weren't introduced until the 80s, but we understand your sentiment.
