I still hate that they switched Emma's and Olive's pecularities, but I'm also still excited for this movie.
In my opinion I don't think it's really a huge change. like her powers aren't a big big part of the story. so I don't think it will mess up too much (:

+Living for the moment Even if they weren't a big part, that scene at the end where she blasts the psychiatrist in the face is so memorable. It just wouldn't work the same way. I'm not saying I assume it will be bad, I just don't want them pulling a "Percy Jackson:Sea Of Monsters" on me and throwing the original story out the window.

I KNOW RIGHt it just reuins my feelings and love of the book but Ill go see it anyways ughhh....
Of course I'm a little sad that Emma/Olive's powers were switched around but quite honestly, they still managed to make her such a freaking badass that I AM A-OKAY WITH ALL OF THIS. I remember the author once stating that what mattered to him more was the integrity of the story and the relationship between Emma and Jacob being portrayed correctly. From what I can tell, the essence and most importantly the *heart* and *soul* of the original novel has remained intact. I'm okay with powers being switched, with tweaks to the original novel I loved so much being made, with this little band of orphans somehow bringing an old submarine to life instead of sailing away on a tiny boat, because... wow. It looks like it's going to be awesome anyway. Stay positive, guys! A movie adaptation doesn't have to be 100% accurate to be good. c:

I think one has to see this trailer on the big screen in a theater to really appreciate just how magically awe inspiring and transporting an experience this movie will be. My only ? might be the villains, but everything else.... Speechless...

I think this is going to be one of those book-based movies that's going to be good if you view it as separate from the book bc just from what I'm seeing it diverges from the novel big time but looks amazing as a separate story.

I actually love this movie
miss peregrine's home peculiar children, it's truly a fantastic movie. Now I tried to Googled it to find out if there's going to be a second part to it and apparently not. From what Google told me there's not even going to be a second one coming out, I guess there was supposed to be one but then they just discontinued it or something like that. Come on man this is a great movie they can't just leave it in the way it did. I would like to see where their new home is going to be and what new enemies that they have coming for them. I hope they change their minds and put a second one out.

+Dylan Lewis if xmen has time loops, xavier can transform into a bird, and they're fighting monsters not other mutants then yes, this is xmen. but, it's not. The only similarity is that they have abilities that normal people don't. The setting and feel of the book (and/or movie) is different from the hero feel of xmen.

X-Men is set over the course of a normal time period, Miss Peregrine's is technically set over the same day, X-Men have Mutants Miss P's have syndrigasti, X-Men have sensible powers (telekinisis, flying, ect) Miss P's have peculiaraities (being lighter then air, future dreams, having a bee in your stomach)
Arwen Quinn X-Men is about a group of people with unusual powers finding a sense of community and belonging when an eccentric, loving authority figure welcomes them into their spooky mansion home. If you really can't see the parallels just because of surface differences, that's your problem, but the parallels are there.
Not gonna lie...this movie looks crazy good!

I really hope this film does well, this as a movie franchise would be such an amazing break from all the comic book and teen dystopian movies that are plaguing the box office. There's been so many book adaptions out recently and I'd hate to see another good book series go to waste (ex: the Percy Jackson series and The Mortal Instruments series are great teen fantasy novels with a large following that should have been successful, but their films didn't hold up well).
I had heard of this book and had seen it around, it was until I saw the first trailer that I got intrigued enough to go out and read it. Seeing this second trailer now having officially finished the book, I'm honestly very excited! Although I'm a little concerned with this new version of Emma (she doesn't seem very similar to her book character, especially with the whole change in powers) I'm sure there's a reason for the change. It still looks like a faithful adaption, and Tim Burton seems like the perfect director to handle this series.
I am so fed up with people judging this movie without reading the books. IT'S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM X-MEN. It's like a completely different genre. X-Men is from comic books which is why there are so much action scenes and origin stories but Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is from books that use an entirely different method to depict the peculiar world. They are not superheroes. This is a fantasy film.
