I wonder where Dawkins has said that working people are stupid for being religious and should be ridiculed for it. I could imagine him saying that religious ideas are ridiculous, and therefore should be, well... ridiculed. And religious leaders are a different bunch, and should be ridiculed for actively leading people astray. And ordinary people are victims of religions and religious leaders. But I might have missed something, and Dawkins has started to spread other ridiculous ideas himself, though not religious ones.
I doubt Dawkins has ever said anything specifically about working people but I used to read and listen to him back in the day, and the things he says are drenched in disdain for believers

The reason is fairly simple. Provide evidence for your belief in a God, and most atheists will no longer be as such. Belief without evidence indicates there is something in ones reasoning that is compromised.
