I'm not yet an Open Builds customer but I have to comment on your tutorials and how much I have enjoyed watching them and learning about your products. The presentations are first rate and so very clear and easy to follow I couldn't imagine anything better. When the time comes, I will definitely look to Open Builds for my CNC machine needs. Thanks to you all.
Ordered my INTERFACE on Monday and I am supposed to get it tomorrow. Want to do a call out for Rachel in Customer Service. Rachel has done a fantastic job following up on any issue and even responds on the weekends. Mark my LEAD 1010 had a few issues that Rachel helped me resolve and now that I have dialed it in it is a GREAT machine. I make cutting boards, cheese boards and charcuterie trays. I named the machine TANK for it is built like a tank. Now I am looking for a larger place for my business for I want to add two more machines to the production line. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for this amazing and kind feedback! Your story is a true testament of the OpenBuilds mission and we really appreciate you sharing it with us.
Agreed, this is a nice project and good hardware for jogging, etc. I could not see a way to use the interface to jog but also use the laptop to run jobs. I often make changes to subsequent jobs as I work them. Cannot have this workflow with this device. Did you conveniently not show you that still have to use a computer to copy your gcode to a USB drive then unmont and plug into the interface? All I can find in the tutorials is that you still have to sneakernet your gcode to the device via usb drive to play the job. I would like to be wrong. Is there a way to get gcode over wifi from files saved on the local LAN? As far as I can tell, Wifi is only for firmware update. Is this correct?
Hi @JonasRullo , you can easily upload GCODE wirelessly to the OpenBuilds Interface. Here's a helpful guide: docs.openbuilds.com/doku.php?id=docs:interface:wifi-upload . If you have any other questions or need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team! support.openbuilds.com/support/tickets/new
Got an email for this and jumped on it right away, looks cool and I'd hate for it to have the same fate as the Router11 and only be available in bundles 😒
Awesome catch John thank you for your support. WYou will love have the Interface on your machine. Its really that great to just walk up and use your machine anytime you want without the laptop, even if you just want to jog it around to show a friend how it works it ready.
This device is awesome, finally got some time to try it out, literally plug and play, plugged it in, loaded and i was jogging and clicking the router IoT on, magnetic phone holder is a great idea. Designing a minimalist 3d model to print to seat it in and alleviate some of the wire's strain from moving it around. I do have question, I want to extend the wire a bit from the black box by a good foot, would that be too long?
Hi Fathmi, thanks for asking it is in the works it just a busy time. In the meantime I can tell you the magnets I used are here - amzn.to/2WldHgo I tried a lot of them and this one works great.
Yes these car mounts all come with a few different sizes small stick on thin metal plates and we made a center template that will help line it up when you stick it on.
Hi, when are the touch probes coming back in stock? I’m from the U.K and would like to order the interface and touch probe together to save on shipping. Thanks
Hello Joshua if you reach out to the Part Store they can give you the best answer and work with you to help insure you can get them both. openbuildspartstore.com/contact-us/
Yes it should work please see the docs here for more information that can help you make the connection - docs.openbuilds.com/doku.php?id=docs:interface:connect-generic
I know this has nothing to do with the content, but do you happen to have strong grip ? It looks like you could easily close a Captains of Crush #2 judging from your wrists and forearm size.
Do you know how I would hook this up to a Demon controller? Using a printer cable that eventually converts to UART doesn't seem to power it up. I can't even seem to get it to update using the Flashdrive and the software that is downloaded to update it when I hook it up to the computer. About the only thing I can do is play that little game.
Hello, for personalized assistance with connecting your OpenBuilds interface to the Demon controller, please contact our customer service team at support.openbuilds.com/support/tickets/new . They'll be able to help you troubleshoot the issue effectively.

@@OpenBuilds I heard from them again and I appreciate your responses too. My only problem is there is another chip card on top of the Arduino board. I don't see any bolts holding it there but something is and I don't want to go around and yanking on anything to access the Arduino board. I'm not familiar with how things like that are usually done. But they have offered a return. I either sell the demon or buy the blackbox OR figure out what is holding down the demon shield chip card that is on top of the Arduino. I just wish the reviewer on openbuilds website would have explained how he did it. Thats the only reason I bought it-that and my battery swelling that I had to replace on my laptop for long carve times.
We are working up a quick build that will be released in the next week or so and it will show how to make a mount that is made from a magnetic phone mount for cars. i use industrial cnc router at work and that look like a nice interface easy to use !
Thanks! We worked hard to make it user friendly so that people wanting to learn CNC are not intimidated
Very slick! Time to upgrade some machines.
Great! This will change the whole dynamic of your shops work flow, you will love it as much as we do! 🌟
Building my machine now with your Black Box controller...it's all gcode to me🙃 I'll order this asap so my router "knows its place in space".
Looks good Mark, I might have to upgrade my OX with a new controller
Thank you! If you do please be sure to share #openbuilds so we can all check it out
