If anyone wants to go see that view in the beginning it is still there In fact there's an overlook now and it's right behind the children's hospital or what used to be the children's hospital That's not the only thing that's abandoned there Warning park has become abandoned the fountain no longer works and there is a trail off the overlook to multiple homeless camps But if you're willing to brave it It's one of the best views in Fort Smith and a couple streets out there's another 1 with an amazing view of the river bottoms Not even a quarter mile away from the first Spot
Great video, I've lived here since 1977 and didn't know that was Kroger grocery across from Creekmore Park. Also at 5:23 the original entrance to Southside High School is unrecognizable here in March of 2022. Beautiful wet snow that day, great idea to go out and film.
I will be moving to Arkansas from Illinois within the next couple of months I'm more excited then nervous I've lived in Illinois all my life so I am definitely looking forward to the move
@@leandar I loved going there in the late 1970s and 80s, good food. I couldn't remember the name though, thanks. Wyatt's cafeteria in Central Mall was also pretty good.
I remember that I was 9 years old. God bless.
Thank goodness for people like Gene McCluney who was a historian even before he knew it!
Time sure slips away. Quickly and quietly.

Amazing video. I can’t stop watching these. It’s neat how everything is so similar yet so different
are you still living in fort smith yet?
I live in Ft smith currently yes
Life is a vapor , here one minute and gone the next
Very good. You put James 4:14 in just the right words
This was the snow that convinced me I didn’t want to drive a 58 Triumph Tr3, few days later traded it in on a 64 Nova, I still have the Nova.
Love this! I grew up here.
That is so cool. I grew up in fort Smith Arkansas. It's amazing how much it's changed.
Wow! Winter wonderland...
Beautiful pictures - and I also enjoyed the soundtrack. It fit perfectly and helped to create a mood.
Good job!
👏👏👏
Just thank you for all these videos. Amy McGraw Beam
Love the old 8mm silent films from a much simpler time. Gotta live the cars! I enjoyed your video and family members.

Ft Smith has the best and worst people in the world. Watch your back and make friends. It's imperative that you do both
I love this!
I'm pretty sure, the house at 7:14 is at Gary and south 41st street, across from Southside.
Wow I was 2 years old living in Ft Smith !!!
Bailey hill reservoir I played ther as a kid many days
Let's see Fort Smith Arkansas what it is like in December of 1968.
Back in the days when bag boys had to wear shirts and ties. Not like now where they just wear t-shirts and blue jeans. I miss days like these.
Upload more of these
I could smell the laundry mat...
Where was that Kroger store? My mom worked at the one on Phoenix and Jenny Lind for many years. Just wondering if that is the same one.
That Kroger store was across the street from Creekmore Park. In the shopping mall where Sweet Bay coffee is.
Lisa Scrudder never knew about that one! I remember a Green Stamp store being in that center and a dime store!
@@michaeldobbs4734 there was another grocery store there at one time, also. I remember taking my brother to work there when I was real young.
I vaguely remember the Kroger store there, my main memory from there was Lewis' Cafeteria and how I loved to eat there when I was a kid.
