The SM2 campaign for me was the perfect length, and I think that its about the same as most other single player games, on par with things like Doom and Halo. I think general perspectives might be skewed because the way the industry has changed, games are very much split into "multiplayer live service" and "huge sprawling RPG", with very little in between. Even Dark Souls is arguably as long as it is because of difficulty and punishing mechanics rather than length or depth of story.
If the biggest criticism of a game is that people want more of it (longer campaign) then I think it's fair to say it's done pretty damn good. Solid game and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat
For your hobby hack, you could also just grab a spare shoulder pad from the bits store and practice painting on that and clean it with IPA between attempts! Or just use a micron pen to write things, just make sure to use a varnish over to match the finish of the model and seal it afterwards.
Hobby Hack! Step1: Use Acrylic Gloss Heavy Gel Medium mixed with Transparent Red Oxide acrylic paint to make a base for a blood effect paint. Step 2: Mix in your choice or reds, oranges, and/or browns to adjust colour and tone. Step 3: Enjoy copious amounts of blood effect technical paints. Great for if you want a bunch of blood effect technical paint for very blood soaked terrain, for example. Or just want different tones of blood and viscera to the commercial ones.
I agree with Joe with having a time based goal. I signed up for a tournament that required a fully painted army. It kicked me up the bum and I've finally painted my whole Custodes army for it!
My favourite solution for powering through a hobby slump, is popping up a voice call on discord with one of my hobby mates, and we just chat and hobby As for scrolls, always start in the middle, draw it out on paper first for a guide. As for the soft pencil tip, its A+. A soft touch isnt very abrasive at all, and if you mess it up, you can literally rub the pencil off with a finger.
With respect to Joe's sergeant problem, what about having a word with your sculpting department? Surely it'd be a pretty quick job for them to add a new buckle from green stuff?
Joe: "12 hours is a bit long for a game" Me: "If there's not 100 hours+ of content, I don't want it" I don't think we have very similar approaches to games.... 🤣
Talking of single player games with great little multiplayer modes, Kane & Lynch 2 had a cops & robbers type online game where you could betray your friends. Spent so many hours playing this back in the day
I think that the amount of room you have might determine what you do with an army if you switch games, finances could be another factor, im more a playstation gamer so debating sm2 , ive started buying into kill team at the wrong time as i wasn't aware a new edition was coming or i forgot, a higher percentage of the reason I bought into kt was the miniatures. Ill have to show you guys a picture of my desk 😂 love the podcasts i have a draw unit under my desk and 12 pigeon hole shelving unit on top of my desk , another draw unit beside me and a side unit with a big box in it for airbrushing equipment, im actually cleaning my pigeon holes as i listen to you guys 😊
I find myself buying new brushes every couple of months. I've been using the brush cleaning method with the 'vessel' recently. How long do you expect brushes to last when using this method every couple of weeks? I use the Rafael brushes.
I'm not gonna give up my supplier because scalpers are thing but if you were to look around for places that deal with magazines you could certainly find a smaller one who stock it issue by issue and have no problem getting hold of them.
I think the campaign story was pretty basic, was frustrating at times (especially on Veteran mode) and I preferred the Tyranid sections to the later stuff, but the co-op modes are definitely where the fun is.
I honestly think you are giving GW head office/marketing too much credit, I don’t think they even thought about it longer than ‘video game might be good’.
Dont think ill go out of my way to get sm2 as its ps plus to play multiplayer so initial layout and then monthly, i used to play cod with my friends and gran turismo but only play Fortnite now to chat to my friend and be social i cant play as easily these days as using my controller causes flare ups with my fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel so gaming is not daily or for more than an hour and a half and that causes hell of alot of pain .
I think it's a bit over hyped. The marines did not not have good weight too them felt like they run in the air or just not part off the inviroment really, animations were yanky attacking in meele. Me personally i hate when weapons appear out of the thin air when switching too melee. Takes me out straight away, but it's a game thing. Gears 2 and 3 just did all these things so much better and is a almost 10 year old game. The game is short but that is fine the game is good. About avrage i think, it feelt a bit like games back in the day designed for the player in mind. It's fun but i would rather gotten it on sale personally. It does nothing that has not been done in gaming before. It's 6/10 it's abit of cope too think it's master pieace. It's not, it's just fine....
I do enjoy your podcasts but this bits things is not sitting right with me. Ripping off consumers by charging £1 per bit - which likely makes you £30-40 per sprue - and making out you’re doing the community a service.
Think of the labour costs in having someone sorting, photographing, putting up the advert, selling and packing for shipping. Your sentiment is ridiculous and childish. If you don’t want to spend £1 on a bit then don’t. Buy a whole kit for the piece you want or make it with green stuff.
@@bobbyhill2951 Not really childish - just my opinion which I’m entitled to voice, as you are. If you’re happy to be ripped off then crack on and go nuts 😂

One day somebody is going to make purity seal man. A space marine covered in a purity seal ghillie suit. 🤔
Sounds like the perfect Ork warboss project 😅
It is kinda crazy that GW didn't have a starter pack of Titus and his gang, with a cheap brush and some paints.

If you use water colors to paint the scroll, if you go wrong you can just wash it off and start again
What a great idea!
"Buy warhammer responsibly" oh dear.... too late for that my friend 😂
Think I'm heading down that road too!

“They grow on trees Joe”

SM2 broke ground with my mate (from playing football) about our hidden love for warhammer…
Scott, if you ever see this - buy that damned ‘nids army!
Banters on point this episode! 😂

I'm with George on this, I felt the hype train was massive and the gaming loop a little too repetitive.

i have the board game, and im living in austria. but i agree there schould had make a combat patrol with all classes from the campain.
I’ve only seen a single combat patrol magazine in the shops. No idea where people are finding so many

Dark angels for the win but how about a angels of death supplement
Love the bits page. Looking to kitbash inner circle and storm guard reclusians, after a Dark compendium vid I saw
fancy doing a review on a game you haven't finished yet 🤣 play the whole thing and enjoy the big moments...
Ork spares for the Ebay shop please!
We do have some, not sure when I’ll get to them though!
I honestly think you are giving GW head office/marketing too much credit, I don’t think they even thought about it longer than ‘video game might be good’.
I picked it up, it's really not the greatest model. Definitely plan on doing some conversion on it as it's a really awkward pose
Why are there ears on the orc skull in the background?

Space Marine 2 was definitely overhyped. The game drops server after switching game modes, and pvp is a mess.
