That's a disturbing image of art and culture being destroyed and replaced by a controlling tech company.
it really is not that disturbing .... it's only because Apple does something that it gets our attention. It's called good marketing that catches the public's attention and clearly worked.
@@AryanSingh-be1giIt makes me hate the company even more.
@AryanSingh-be1gi we get it, Apple can do no wrong.
You don't own anything, but we let you use this slab.
@heybro6105 Not really what I was getting at. Yes they make terrible decisions like the 2013 Mac Pro, 2016 - 2019 MacBook Pro butterfly switches, or their terrible position on right to repair. But this is just a simple instance of marketing to get the publics attention. If you watch Linus Tech Tips, watch his take on the ad on yesterday's WAN show.
🍏Apple: No artists were harmed in the making of this ad
🍎Also Apple: No artists were consulted in the making of this ad
Do you work for Apple? Or are you an artist who commissioned work to Apple for their new iPad ad?
@@AllenJWard sorry, forgot the /s
The whole thing looks like a blatant metaphor for Apple crushing your dreams.
It is so bad that it seems intentional. Imagine not instruments, but the artists themselves, collapsing under Apple's massive industrial machine.
The thing is Apple has done into lower level development. They are VERY inovative, just not they way most people think of it. But as a Softwear and hardwear developer/enginer, I am somewhat shocked. Apples new M4 is insane, and thin devices is proof of the achivments of ARM processers. I for one am not an apple fan but their enginers and product improvements "under the hood" are very impressive if you study it.
@@NathanLundmark I'm always surprised by how powerful their ipads are.

This reminds me of that commercial where GM crushed a beautiful 1964 Jeep Gladiator in great condition to promote that ugly ass new piece of crap.
Apple and "Big Tech" crushing your dreams and aspirations. Even the Japanese who revere craftsmanship are also horrified by this ad.
Make a screen that doesn't shatter and a battery we can easily replace. Make a screen we can easily replace if you can't make one that won't shatter when I drop it .

For real! 😂 The first thing I thought was how easy it would break AND that I would break it. Then I envisioned some steam punk style thick tablet with a wide metal frame and me dropping it & just picking it up intact 👌🏼 Yeah, I'm a little bored. 🤣🤣
They wouldn't do that because they also want your wallet to be as thin as possible 😂
That commercial is deranged.
It's not that bad. It's just a strange message that they crushed all good art instead of making it flourish or more clearly incorporating it into the phone.
It's not eco unless you are destroying great works of art and history
Pretty soon you’ll be able to get a paper cut from you ipad
Lmao!!
More like AI sloth
The kind of ad you want to press “Skip Ad” before it starts.
The thinner the iPad, the more the likelihood it will break.
The changes they made to the iPhone 15 made it more prone to damage.
Apple are going backwards.
And they actively and blatantly restrict repairs and make devices a pain to repair. That's Apple
"The thinner the iPad, the more the likelihood it will break."
Shocking that Apple didn't hire you as their hardware designer.
Relax, they have smart people working on this stuff.
@@_sparrowhawkYeah, probably the same people that designed the large aperture into the chassis of the iPhone 15 pro max where the charging coil is. That coupled with the fact they were forced to make the front and back easier to replace, thus resulting in a phone that is susceptible to breaking during flexing (see JerryRig video). I work in precision engineering and know a bad design when I see one.
But yeah, keep trolling Sparrow Boy. 🙄
@@_sparrowhawk Just wait till JerryRigEverything gets his hands on it, that's when the truth gets revealed 👍
Say nothing. I had a MacBook for 10 years and I decided to get a new MacBook Air and I was in SHOCK!! The new thing is waaaaaay worse than the old. How is this possible? It is so slow I have to wait for it to catch up with me while deleting files 🤦♀️ never Apple again! I never got the iPhone and I never will...
This advert was controversial in Japan in particular. In their culture, tools to create are something that should be respected (I'm probably generalising here as I'm Scottish, the furthest you can get from Japanese. Someone who is Japanese could explain it far better than I can). Especially since I'm a musician where I have many instruments, guitar pedals, whathaveyou, this ad does rub me the wrong way.
I'm also sure that it would have upset some people (including myself) seeing that lovely arcade cabinet being crushed.
The destructiveness of it makes me sick. So many of those things some poor people or people who appreciate the the stuff would love to have them.
Yeah, the whole time I watched it crushed that beautiful piano, I was hoping the ad was CGI, and they weren't actually destroying those things...
I don't doubt it,they even have funeral rite and shrine for used kitchen knives, this adds probably give someone over there table flipping rage
Apple is just telling us who they really are behind their products.
They don't respect the individual artist or their talents.
They don't value the tools used by artists because Apple bosses aren't artists and they didn't pay for those tools and instruments, the artists did.
Artists value their tools and instruments. It is an extension of their minds.
Apple doesn't believe in using resources wisely. They want you to throw away your art tools some of which are made from valuable materials, expensive and cherished.
They want you to buy their electronic gadget which would break or fail before the warranty date. If their gadget breaks or fail then they want you to buy another, preferably a newer, costlier model.
Apple wants you to buy and consume as long as you can pay them. Thanks for the message Apple Corp. We understand your company crystal clear😄
this ad looks like a suggestion to eco-violence: classical arts destroyed, paint all over...
They inovated one thing in the last few years, suicide nets at their factories.
Source ?
The idea that an iPad can replace a Trumpet is absurd🎺🤦🏼♂️!! Ask Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, and so on…. A Musician and his/her instrument share a bond that cannot be replicated by tech!!!
All those instruments “just the trumpet” matters eh? I think Clapton, Hendrix and Van Halen might be pissed about the guitar. Fats Domino, Little Richard, Liberace the piano.
The physical destruction of these items creates the opposite effect of what they want. Basically saying "replace all the actual art with AI and a SCREEN and let your kids stare at it all day"
One thing I'm happy about is that people expressed their disdain towards this Ad! It's nice to see that society is still capable of holding these big companies accountable for trying to turn us into NPCs! Today it's just an iPad Advert, who knows what it'll be tomorrow! Let's keep standing up for the things we value as humans, let's keep standing up for human nature and physical well-being! We won't allow them to turn us into NPCs that can't touch grass or face the sun.

"The Saturday Night Joke"
A man owned a small farm. The Labor Department determined he was not paying proper wages to his staff and sent an investigator out to interview him.
"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them!", demanded the investigator.
"Well," replied the farmer, "there's my farm hand who's been with me for three years. I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board.
"The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $150 per week plus free room and board."
"Then there's the halfwit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 a week. He pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of whiskey every Saturday night. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally."
"That's the guy I want to talk to...the halfwit!" said the agent.

Apple went downhill when we lost Steve Jobs.
Everyone says that but Steve was a bit of a nut job himself. Some of those early MacBook Pros throughout 2006 to 2012 had crippling graphics issues & he claimed that cell service issues with the iPhone 4 were user error. They also killed off FireWire in favour of Thunderbolt 2 (which sucked).

This commercial seemed like a good idea on paper. Or on an iPad I should say 😀
The ad didn't mention that the battery life is a whole 1.5 hours and will blow off the desk if somebody walks by too fast.
... read the specs. And for the record, the whole 'apple has bad battery', has been so old. They have had among the best battery life in their macs, in their phones, and in their ipads for a long time now. The M series chips, which this iPad is power by, are VERY efficient, I can constantly get over 10 hrs of battery on a 4 yr old MacBook.
@@AryanSingh-be1gi Ah, the Apple fanboy who doesn't get irony. The point is getting thinner makes it lighter and also reduces battery size. DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW!!!!! I worked at AT&T for a while and every year, they released the new iPhone. I always compared it in detail to the previous year's model, and the changes were usually ridiculously minimal, sometimes simply weighing a bit less. And sheep would come in and spend thousands on them. It was ridiculous.
Sadly, and truly ... a poll showed by far most young people would rather lose a finger than their mobile phone.
Which finger?
Lemme talk to you about a stinky pinky I wouldn't mind losing

That’s just . . . mortifying.
I feel sick now after watching that ad....
Why. Its just stuff
It was strangely violent.
A huge achievement for an audience accustomed to violence and vulgarity in general.
"Weird tech version of bulemia," :LOL
They knew exactly what they were doing.
Crush the arts and sell your soul to the little device.
They explained the intent behind the ad already.
Why would anybody pay $1200 for an apple with a byte already taken from it?
What the duce was Apple thinking? Destroying musical instruments is evil. (I realize that it was all animated, but the visual is disturbing.)
It didn't, "Destroy" them. It compressed them all into one. Transformation.
need a tissue?
It's an analogue of the Nazis burning books.
Pete Townshend is evil.
What more can we expect from the Techno-Nazi's at Apple
''Repulsive and disgusting ' is the new trend in commercials. That's because they want to trigger human visceral emotions even if this means they trigger you to vomit. Recently Hornbach made this commercial where a human adult is coming out of an insect pupae covered in the most disgusting slimy liquid looking like a very gross saliva of Jabba the Hutt or something. I mean... why would you do that if you are well intended with your clients?
It's crazy how much people simp for Apple's walled garden and other anti-consumer policies. It really is a perfect representation of people's attitude toward politics generally: signaling over substance
It's always been an enthusiastic fanboy brand but has increasingly just become a creepy, glazed-eyed cult.....just go to any Apple 'news' website and suggest something remotely critical (even constructive-criticism) and the easily-challenged, digital pitchfork cultists will instantly amass ......to call you names!
What a sad, sad commercial.
Destroying works of art or musical instruments is never a good look.
Maybe they are going for the hip, cool crowd that wants to destroy grandpa's trumpet??
Why would they want to destroy Grandpa’s trumpet?
Why isn’t a it a good look. Who decided that?
I see this commercial as a sad metaphor for "presentism" in general. So many young people today associate anything that's older than last Tuesday as being bad, obsolete and/or undesirable. So the idea that Apple would "crush" all those symbols of old technology down into a single monolithic device that they want everyone to conform to seems to play right into their woke mindset that "everything old is bad, everything new is good".
Indeed!!
Your reverse idea was pure genius.
The thinner they get, the more fragile they become so we put a THICK armored case around our expensive toy to protect it. Now we're back where we started.
More like;
"Rotten Apple"!
I for one won't be satisfied until the IPhone is as thin as a piece of paper.
yes, toilet paper...
I have never believed in the phrase "there's no such thing as bad publicity".
If people hate you, they won't buy your product. How is that good publicity?
Even if they ran Matt's ad it still looks like Apple is so conceited to think they can replace physical items with digital reproductions.
Also technology is so wasteful. Nobody leaves their iPad for the next generation. Yet you never see instruments on the side of the road to be collected with the garbage. No, you donate them to a school or charity, you give them away, leave them for your kids. You get a Martin guitar because it’s an investment. Technology just creates barriers based off the ethos of a company.
The commercial is a good visual representation of "Evil cannot create. It can only destroy.'
Apple also popularised making laptops thinner to the point of having less hardware. It's now next to impossible to buy a new laptop with a DVD or CD drive. They somehow made it 'cool' to pay more money for a computer with less features. If you don't like this, you're the one that's called an idiot, not the people who want a laptop that does less than one that was made fifteen years ago.
The worst part was Cher singing, "All I Ever Need Is You."
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Cher lady 🫠
The representation of a thing is superior to the thing itself in reality, in their view. They want us to believe that the pinnacle of fulfillment can only be reached with reality experienced in a processed, pixelated form.
That is super awesome fantastic now that they made it almost paper thin you can break it right as you're bringing it out of its box
Apple prides itself on design, but my apple TV controller is so small and skinny and hard/uncomfortable to hold, it's probably the worst-designed controller I've ever held. Matt is right, skinnier doesn't mean it's better.
Next year the ad will be Apple AI crushing every job except AI prompt engineer or software engineer
AI has already made prompt engineers obsolete...
No Apple fan, but the reason the iPad had to be thinner & lighter is because it was too top heavy when paired with the attachable keyboard, making it prone to tipping over when used on a person’s lap.
Next , Apple Suppository.
There's so much I can't stand about this ad. 1) the snarky contrast between cute music and destruction. 2) The intentional setting up of everything for effect...it's like those OKGO videos that are nothing but done "to amaze" 3) The played out concept: "it's all in the box" and 4) The self-referential internet-geared-video-about-internet-geared-videos. Total fail.
now microsoft needs to make an ad crushing an ipad and it turns into a surface
Agreed lol
It's getting thinner because buyer getting fatter.
It's getting smarter because buyer getting dumber.
Good lord 😭😭😱😱 Truth in advertising has reached its absolute pinnacle, folks
The rainbow is what's important in this ad, and nobody can criticize it. The rainbow people could get offended.🤦♀️
The ad is an accurate illustration of the soul crushing nature of our modern technocracy.
Really? We’re getting mad about an innocuous ad?
Man you must’ve needed to fill some air time.
We just put out a commercial that even if it were made using cgi would be seen as tasteless. For literally the same product made with slightly less material for significantly more than the previous version, Apple: we dare you to try and stop us.
Why do you care? It’s just an ad. It’s hurting no one.
The song is sung by Plastic Woman, Cher. Apropos.

This unintentionally/ironically says the opposite of what it should say and is sad like that 'does it blend?' UA-cam channel......They're becoming everything they claimed to be against in their original 1984 mac ad.
Made no sense to me - how can an iPad replace the pride of learning to competently play a musical instrument? It seems to take away from human endeavor.
I'd definitely prefer Matt's Mary Poppins bag version over that garbage.
It looked like a colorful, "great reset." Of course, someone had to clean up the mess.
More and more in our society people have stopped caring about the intent of the artist that created an artistic work. The intent of the commercial was made clear by Apple. Yet people seem to think that they can override an artists intent. If I were the person that came up with the idea for this ad I would be pissed. I would have apologized. No one was owed an apology over this.
I think I see what they were going for... "Compacting" all of those things into one, small, condensed thing. But they missed the mark by a long shot on ad presentation. "Art" if that's what you want to call commercial media, is subjective. Overall, this is pretty terrible and I think the average consumer is going to see it as the destruction of art or culture.
That ad literally makes me sick.
Replacing musicians started in the 1980s. After the '70s ended, popular music started replacing orchestral musicians with synthesizers. Some music genre's replaced musicians by sampling existing music and using drum machines.
Actually, the problem is all of this is anti-gratitude for what you have - which inevitably becomes anti-humanity - I guess they're there now.
First thing i do is put a case on the phone to protect it. Maybe Apple trying to sell more cases?
It's mindboggling these type of advertisements make it through to production. This is on the level of stupidity done by Balenciaga with the pedophile references a few years ago.
That brand name alone is a satanic message. If you really want to know how repulsive that brand’s name is, translate it from Latin to English.
How horribly negative and destructive. That is a horrible thing to watch. Like some kind of qsy opp. Major mental damage.
Phono, turntable, film camera are destroyed in that video. I hate them for this.
The reason Apple hasn't been innovative is because Steve Jobs is no longer there.
As great a company Apple is, they sometimes do crap that is stunning. Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave.
I own a thinner iPad. It's so thin you can't see it.
That’s horrific!!! I’m so repulsed.😡
Apple is dismissing the legacy of tactile artistic expression with their own cold digital glass and metal device, the ipad. I’d rather use actual paint and canvas to paint with than an anticeptic iPad.
It’s even better too, because when you paint on canvas or draw on paper, you aren’t going blind by doing so.
Yeah, but if everything sprang out they couldn't say "look how thin!" Apparently that WAS their biggest selling point. 😂😂😂
Not even original.
Remember that old Pokemon commercial were they get in a bus and compacted in the Game Boy Color?
Yeah it didn't show the creatures getting reduced to a pink mist unlike this demented and.
Apple died with Jobs.
They keep making them smaller, but by making it smaller they are limiting what it can do... You would get longer battery life, more processing power, more storage, a better display, better refresh rates, sharper images, and a nice sturdy feel... I would happily buy any device that released in this modern age that showed they optimized the device, rather than how thin it is.
LOL, Apple turned the comments off for that ad (I just checked). Apple is literally crushing human creativity.
My wife and kids have all these, I have the I paid.
Well… why? iPads are expensive and to to repair them…my children had kindle fires. Children break things. My children paid for expensive devices and treated them with care because it was their $.
Witty. 😂
Musicians, artists and filmakers made Apple, and they've thrown us under the bus.
These days apple is really getting crazy. Thin? Titanium in iPhone who really needs that super high end material?
The ad is perfectly ok selling a very simple message, the thinner part I have an issue with as they get thinner they also become flimsier and more easy to destroy accidentally forcing us the consumers to buy padding for them that makes them very thick.
Mother Apple comes down to confirm the snake asked Eve to bite of it. Unplug for a week, and see how much simpler your life becomes, but a warning, you will be confronted by your own thoughts and feelings.
