Fun fact, it was the animated series which introduced the concept of the symbiote making his host aggressive and violent while augmenting the users abilities. In the comic originally the suit only could produce its own webs and just shape-shift, the reason why Eddie was stronger then Spidey is because of the Symbiote coping Spider-Man's abilities and making him immune to spider-sense but also the fact that Eddie had more muscle compared to Spider-Man from his body-building back when Venom was first introduced. Also he had that creepy mouth of regular teeth and not the fangs and long tongue combo.
Spiderman: Separation Anxiety was my first side-scrolling beat-em up game ever. I was never able to beat the game myself, because when I was young, the game seemed to have just gone on and on without ending.
+A.Blob.Of.Clay then Dio takes of his mask and its Elliot then Elliot takes off his mask and is Matt Matt takes off his mask then its you then you take off your mask and is me then i take off my mask and its Mark
+A.Blob.Of.Clay then old jakens take off his mask and its scooby the gang take off there mask and its the BSC crew Scooby take off his mask and its Ted then Ted take off his mask and its Dr.evil
Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety were plot points that did happen in the comics. From what little I read, Maximum Carnage followed the comics very well. I don't know about Separation Anxiety though.
It seems Johnny lost his sanity after Spiderman: Return of the Sinister Six. Approximately for the last 10 minutes of the video, he's been obsessed with hitting people in the d*ck! XD
Wisepheonix Johnny "I've been having this strange obsession with hitting people in the d*ck doctor. & it only happens when I'm playing Spiderman in a Spiderman game." Doctor "In order to treat your obsession, we must treat Spiderman." Johnny "But he's Spiderman, who can treat him by force if Spiderman refuses to be treated?" Doctor "I know one man who can do it" (Mean while in the in-game universe) Arkham Knight "We've got our orders boys, hunt down Spiderman & call in a medic to treat this bug's obsession" Spiderman "You'll never cure my obsession boys!" (Punches a Militia in the d*ck) Militia "Medic!" Medic "What happened?!" Militia "My d*ck!" XD
Trevor Kovacs Militia "Because he's a psychopath with no honour!" Medic "You're fine! Get back in the fight!" Spiderman "I'll keep punching you all in the d*ck until you implode!" XD
Ahhh, this game. Loved this one back in the day, though I never was able to beat until I was 16. Beat Maximum Carnage a year after that one as well, and matt aint lying. That game is BLOODY DIFFICULT.
I can just imagine them joking about the game repeating the 1 song throughout the whole game. Plus some funny jabs at each other's eating addictions with the fat guy in the cutscenes XD
i only recently read venom v carnage and toxin, so this fits perfectly for me Edit: it realy looks like spiderman just goes along with venom beating up every random person they find on the street... that's one way to deal with anxiety
Both Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety are cannon. I so like both of the games though MC is harder but its still a good game and I like the sound of the Genesis versions over the SNES.
Oh look, it's Scream! Y'know, that one symbiote that only had one significant appearance: The Universal 4-D ride. Fun Fact: Venom became an anti-hero at the time of this game. Yeah, that's why he's in MvC1.
The symbiote actually originates from the original Secret Wars storyline, which got incorporated into the Amazing Spider-Man comics in the early 200s (issues)
Oh God, this game takes me back. Never liked this one as much as Maximum Carnage, though. But I will admit that the game over screen scared the shit out of younger me.
There was a secret room at the very beginning of the first stage where you can score a bunch of extra lives. Apparently Matt knew about it because I saw him try to go there for a few seconds. I think in 2-player both players has to do it (not too sure about that)
Wow, it's gonna be really hard to make a spider-man parody song with 'Separation Anxiety' in it.......Would that one song from Tony Hawk Underground 2 work?
funny you guys mention Venom as an Avenger. i think in recent comics, as well as the currently running Ultimate Spider-Man, Venom now has Flash Thompson as a host, and is currently a SHIELD agent. though in Ultimate, they rebooted the origin story to Venom, which may be why they don't have Eddie Brock as a character anymore still, with Venom a member of SHIELD, he could be on the track to becoming an Avenger in the future
When they said Mark gave them hot dogs and they wished us happy 4th July I imagined them sitting outside LPing this game while everyone else was partying around them
"Acclaim was an okay developer" 1. Publisher 2. They bought LJN. So this is still somewhat an LJN game 3. THEY MADE BATMAN FOREVER AND BATMAN AND ROBIN!!! "Okay" my ass.
SparktheDog They also made BMX XXX, the Spider-Man:Return of the S6(they owned LJN at the point), a lot of the nes Simpson games, Mary-Kate and Ashley games, and more sports games than EA at the time.
Spiderman and Venom: PSA team. Venom: Listen kids, there's nothing like getting hugged by someone ya love but if someone touches you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's NO GOOD!
i remember hearing about Maximum Carnage but not Separation Anxiety. i know this was kinda based off the Lethal Protector arc of the Venom comic. So this should be interesting
Yeah, the symbiote likes Peter. I think I remember a scene in the cartoon where Peter told the symbiote to come back to him, and it left Eddie. So, when giving the choice between Peter or Eddie, the symbiote will choose Peter.
I got so close to beating Maximum Carnage...then I died at the last boss. The key's to know where to find all the bonus levels to get extra lives. Good luck with that without a guide...
OH MY GOD! I've been wondering if anyone remembered this game! I love this game! One of the best Spider-Man games ever made! ...It's also better than Maximum Carnage. It was good, but balls to the wall, hard. lol
If i remember correctly, Spider-Man saw Thor with is suit fixed and wanted to see the machine that did it. Problem was, he didn't ask wich machine did it and he activated the first thing that he saw, freeing the simbiot and it immediately attached to Spider-Man.
spiderman, spiderman, does whatever a spider can. he shoots webs that are sick, he loves punching people in the dick. look out, heres comes spider man.
Sebastian Cintron It's Topher Grace from That 70's Show. He played the main character Eric Forman in that show and he played Venom in Spider-Man 3, the only live action appearance he's made.
Leopold Litchenstein I actually didnt mind that Venom. An explanation is in order I assume so here goes; Yes Topher Grace was a poor choice for Eddie Brock/Venom. However what little time and arc they gave him wasnt too terrible. The design of Venom while skinnier than his other incarnations was still pretty cool looking. The biggest problem I have with that Venom is that he appears only for 10 mins. That pissed me off. Other than that wasnt too terrible. I've seen worse interpretations of Venom in comics as well as other villains. At least this Venom wasnt Mandarin.
Sebastian Cintron He probably shouldn't have been put in the film to begin with and teased for the next instead, but that was almost 10 years ago so it's not like it matters anymore
thats the next spider man game after this one, Johnny is playing the 1st movie game, my childhood, and elliot will be playing spider-man 2 the movie game, my better childhood, and he will also be playing ultimate spider-man, the highlight of my childhood.
Johnny didn't say but I wish it's the Xbox version too, I told him to play that version because of the Kraven boss battle, but I doubt he saw my comment, so who knows
Fun fact: Venom was in the Avengers. Or more accurately, the Secret Avengers, and was picked by Cap himself if I recall. Though it was Agent Venom and not Brock.
Honestly, you guys got your facts wrong. LJN was only the publisher of Maximum Carnage (which Acclaim acquired publishing rights to after buying them out). Same devs made this game, but one year later. LJN held no tolerances as to quality of the products they sold (for the worst in many cases, but they got lucky that the people behind MC made a great game), but Acclaim has been known to meddle. The changes seen here from this game are what you see when dev freedom starts to come under pressure.
11:20 oddly enough his eyes changing shapes was always a smart way to illustrate Spider-man's emotions even with the mask on in comics and tv
2:20
Spider Man: You know Venom I used to think you were crazy
Venom: I know
Spider Man: But now I see your nuts.
"but now I see your nuts"😏
Just noticed that XD
I thank you
And when their hotdog fell, SGB began to feel... Separation Anxiety.
Honestly I loved watching that moment in the animated series of Spider-man. Symbiote Spidey chasing Shocker while yelling was hilarious
When I am busy and see an SGB video it gives me SEPARATION ANXIETY!
Spiderman: Separation Anxiety was my first side-scrolling beat-em up game ever. I was never able to beat the game myself, because when I was young, the game seemed to have just gone on and on without ending.
Even in a different game, Johnny will make sure that Peter Parker's pathological need to punch people in the dick will survive.
Dick-punching is to Spidey what fireballs are to Sora.
Spiderman takes off his mask to reveal he was Johnny Cage this whole time.
+79BigCat then Johnny Cage takes off his mask and is Mysterio
+A.Blob.Of.Clay then Dio takes of his mask and its Elliot
then Elliot takes off his mask and is Matt
Matt takes off his mask then its you
then you take off your mask and is me
then i take off my mask and its Mark
+A.Blob.Of.Clay then old jakens take off his mask and its scooby
the gang take off there mask and its the BSC crew
Scooby take off his mask and its Ted
then Ted take off his mask and its Dr.evil
When cobra commander came on screen I imagined him saying
"hey spidie, have you bought the Amazing Spider-Man 2. You'll need it"
Funfact: The game is named after the Separation Anxiety story line but the game actually follows the story of the Venom Lethal Protector story.
Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety were plot points that did happen in the comics. From what little I read, Maximum Carnage followed the comics very well. I don't know about Separation Anxiety though.
Spider-Man and Venom in... Dick Punch City 2: Separation Anxiety!
Now with more dick punches and throat jabs while dick punching.
One of these days the villains will remember to wear a cup.
***** And then one savior will come to save the day... THE CRIMSON CHIN!
Rising:Revengeance & Knuckles featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series!
Also features Kratos and Shovel Knight as secret bosses!
"Surprised Shocker? Let me tell to it to you straight, I am invincible."
I love how you guys made a reference to my favorite Spiderman cartoon series. I'm so happy
spider-man is still punching villains in the dick I see.
It's like the video game replacement for his witty banter
+mechashadow Now I imagine a Spider man movie were it just consisting of spider man punching people in the dick and doing the Carlton banks dance.
+Janelle Villanueva Complete with Musical cane! That last bit made me chuckle.
If it aint broken, dont fix it.
now i understand why jameson wants spider-man put behind bars.
I'm just going to put this out there: those punches sound like fireworks. Kinda fitting since they played this on the 4th of July.
It seems Johnny lost his sanity after Spiderman: Return of the Sinister Six. Approximately for the last 10 minutes of the video, he's been obsessed with hitting people in the d*ck! XD
Johnny is playing the role of spider-man thats why he is obsessed with punching people in the dick.
Wisepheonix Johnny "I've been having this strange obsession with hitting people in the d*ck doctor. & it only happens when I'm playing Spiderman in a Spiderman game."
Doctor "In order to treat your obsession, we must treat Spiderman."
Johnny "But he's Spiderman, who can treat him by force if Spiderman refuses to be treated?"
Doctor "I know one man who can do it"
(Mean while in the in-game universe)
Arkham Knight "We've got our orders boys, hunt down Spiderman & call in a medic to treat this bug's obsession"
Spiderman "You'll never cure my obsession boys!" (Punches a Militia in the d*ck)
Militia "Medic!"
Medic "What happened?!"
Militia "My d*ck!"
XD
+Zumabdeen1247 he punching me in the dick why does he keep punching me in the dick
Trevor Kovacs Militia "Because he's a psychopath with no honour!"
Medic "You're fine! Get back in the fight!"
Spiderman "I'll keep punching you all in the d*ck until you implode!"
XD
9:33 "Dude, I lifted that guy up and punched him in the dick!" -Johnny I'm getting Return of the Sinister six vibes... DICKPUNCH!
Ahhh, this game. Loved this one back in the day, though I never was able to beat until I was 16.
Beat Maximum Carnage a year after that one as well, and matt aint lying. That game is BLOODY DIFFICULT.
08:02- *randomly hums the Stage Clear theme from Turtles in Time*
Elliot: COWABUNGA!
Me: ....................That's some insane timing.
In the SGBverse: Spider-Man is a certified hardcore dick puncher and Venom has extreme separation anxiety.
I know Elliot was joking but now I am really hoping for a PepsiMan LP.
Trust Elliot to bring the bizarre games to the channel
He already brought Hunie Pop. Why not PepsiMan?
with special guest, Pepsi Woman!
It is a super hero marathon, you never know.
I can just imagine them joking about the game repeating the 1 song throughout the whole game. Plus some funny jabs at each other's eating addictions with the fat guy in the cutscenes XD
Dear lord that title screen music. Simply glorious.
i only recently read venom v carnage and toxin, so this fits perfectly for me
Edit: it realy looks like spiderman just goes along with venom beating up every random person they find on the street... that's one way to deal with anxiety
Both Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety are cannon. I so like both of the games though MC is harder but its still a good game and I like the sound of the Genesis versions over the SNES.
"I like the sound of the Genesis versions over the SNES"
Oh good, I'm not alone.
9:35 "I'm your friendly neighborhood cup checker!"
i got some seperation anxiety today when i forgot to clear my search history.
I had so much fun playing this game with my cousin as a kid.
Maximum Carnage had a remix of Black Sabbath's "The Mob Rules" in it. How could anyone diss that?
PEPSIMAN? Man... Pepsiman so should have been a game for the Super Hero-a-thon.
Oh look, it's Scream! Y'know, that one symbiote that only had one significant appearance: The Universal 4-D ride.
Fun Fact: Venom became an anti-hero at the time of this game. Yeah, that's why he's in MvC1.
Gmaniac01 I believe so. Oddly enough, it's the most original idea Venom had in years.
He wasn't even part of the Deadpool symbiotic combo?
Hey, I liked Anti-Venom too.
mechashadow Anti-Venom's different. Venom became an anti-hero around the time Carnage was really popular. Not sure when Anti-Venom came around.
+mechashadow but that doesn't answer my first question tho'
If we have Anti-Venom, what's Venom's Nobody? ...Oh wait that's an easy one, it's Eddie.
2:08-2:10 Damn, I never took Venom to be into garbage cans. His seductive dance sure is something, though.
I literally remember this game fondly for that title screen music alone......
"17's always been an ass hole"
I blame Dr.Gero.
The symbiote actually originates from the original Secret Wars storyline, which got incorporated into the Amazing Spider-Man comics in the early 200s (issues)
Elliot's sneezes are so cute
Separation Anxiety is going to be this LP's running gag, isn't it? X(
According to Sporcle quizzes, Venom has been an Avenger
Oh, 90s Spiderman....the edgiest of times...
Oh God, this game takes me back.
Never liked this one as much as Maximum Carnage, though. But I will admit that the game over screen scared the shit out of younger me.
It looks like a fun game
The secret rooms, will they ever find one?
This is one of the five games I bring up whenever people say that there weren't any good Spider-Man games before Spider-Man 2 (2004).
You even specified the year the Spider-Man 2 movie game came out. Apparently Spider-Man 2 (2001) is in a way lower ball park.
Enter Electro is one of my favorites! I still want to find a Pre-9/11 copy of the game.
+Mr. Rambo it's one of my favorites, too!
So Spider-Man and Venom meets Double Dragon and Final Fight? Huh now that's a thing.
The punching sound effects sound like a boxer hitting at a punching ball.
funny you guys mention Venom as an Avenger. i think in recent comics, as well as the currently running Ultimate Spider-Man, Venom now has Flash Thompson as a host, and is currently a SHIELD agent. though in Ultimate, they rebooted the origin story to Venom, which may be why they don't have Eddie Brock as a character anymore
still, with Venom a member of SHIELD, he could be on the track to becoming an Avenger in the future
Looks like they are doing the Spider-Man games in release order
Did anyone else think Matt was joking when he said the subtitle to this game at the end of the Sinister Six LP?
I also thought he was joking, and even as a subtitle, its really weird
When they said Mark gave them hot dogs and they wished us happy 4th July I imagined them sitting outside LPing this game while everyone else was partying around them
Ohhh so THIS is the game that I played when I was little, I always thought it was Maximum Carnage
"Acclaim was an okay developer"
1. Publisher
2. They bought LJN. So this is still somewhat an LJN game
3. THEY MADE BATMAN FOREVER AND BATMAN AND ROBIN!!!
"Okay" my ass.
You obviously never played Batman Forever: The Arcade Game
everything they did that had nothing to do with tie-ins was okay
They made a few good games.
However they made a lot of mistakes.
SparktheDog They also made BMX XXX, the Spider-Man:Return of the S6(they owned LJN at the point), a lot of the nes Simpson games, Mary-Kate and Ashley games, and more sports games than EA at the time.
I think they made Vex as well. Vex was a fun game. They made some fun PS2 games. Though don't ask me for names. Too many PS2 games to sort through.
oh my god thank you i had this game as a kid and me and my brother use to love this game
Oh my, the thumbnail......seems Spiderman is in for a hell, it usually is when venom & carnage are involved
Also, new LP
YAY!
I love the partnership of spider man and venom in the ps1 game. such good chemistry
surf the web
surf the web
"Let's just eat our hotdogs now."
Why do the punch sound effects sound like Spidey and Venom are playing basketball?
12:23 Was that a victorious reference?
Maximum Carnage was hard as shit when I played, I only got to the 3rd level.
And thus, Parker and Brock begin surfing the Web...
Wow this game actually does look fun
interesting Elliot coughed just like the cobra commander in that one transformers episode
Fun Fact: Jim cummings, the voice of darkwing duck and Winnie the pooh, also did the voice of shocker in the 90's spider-man cartoon.
Flash Tompson Venom was apart of the Secret Avengers for awhile
I got so close to beating Maximum Carnage...then I died at the last boss. The key's to know where to find all the bonus levels to get extra lives. Good luck with that without a guide...
It's not Ultimate SpiderMan, but it'll do. : )
i had to comment on this vid, so i can help cure............SEPARATION ANXIETY!
OH MY GOD! I've been wondering if anyone remembered this game! I love this game! One of the best Spider-Man games ever made! ...It's also better than Maximum Carnage. It was good, but balls to the wall, hard. lol
actually Venom is in the avengers in that Ultimate spiderman show
you know, where he says "Welcome to die!"
THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!
This game actually looks fun.
Anything with Venom gets a plus from me.
Even Eric Forman's Venom?
Leopold Litchenstein okay not every form. I dont even know who that is.
Sebastian Cintron It's Topher Grace from That 70's Show. He played the main character Eric Forman in that show and he played Venom in Spider-Man 3, the only live action appearance he's made.
Leopold Litchenstein I actually didnt mind that Venom.
An explanation is in order I assume so here goes;
Yes Topher Grace was a poor choice for Eddie Brock/Venom.
So when are they going to surf the web?
hey Johnny can you play through metroid prime federation force with Matt Elliot and mark? please🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Venom did join the Secret Avengers though. When he became Agent Venom.
Well that's Flash Thompson tho, not Eddie Brock
I haven't heard of this game at all. When are we getting to the Spider-Man movie games?
thats the next spider man game after this one, Johnny is playing the 1st movie game, my childhood, and elliot will be playing spider-man 2 the movie game, my better childhood, and he will also be playing ultimate spider-man, the highlight of my childhood.
Oh awesome! is it the XBOX version? I hope it's the XBOX version.
Johnny didn't say but I wish it's the Xbox version too, I told him to play that version because of the Kraven boss battle, but I doubt he saw my comment, so who knows
Great, now I have to watch an entire let's play just to get the context
4:40 My goodness, age has not been kind to the Powerpuff Girls.
Fun fact : the current guy who's venom isn't Eddie Brock it's flash Thompson
Peter Parker's bully? Hm.....interesting......... Wait, does that mean Eddie died?
No Eddie's fine, he just gave up the symbiote, and then became Anti-Venom (an anti symbiote), and now he's Toxin(Carnage's spawn).
Red Lantern Reviews Hm......interesting.......Maybe I should read the Spiderman comics. Seems a lot is going on with the symbiotes.
+Zumabdeen1247 they even get their own comics
mechashadow Wow. I'm impressed. That's amazing.
Fun fact: Venom was in the Avengers. Or more accurately, the Secret Avengers, and was picked by Cap himself if I recall. Though it was Agent Venom and not Brock.
Yup, youre right and now Agent Venom is part of the Guardians of the Galaxy
So apparently the reason they're doing this one is because Maximum Carnage is so unbearably hard that Matt hates it.
+Chaz Starkey Are you insane MG definitely hard and filled with trail and error bullshit
Like the Maximum Carnage storyline in the comics, never played the video game.
I think another spider man marathon is due
I'm curious to what horror game titles they will conquer this Halloween, it'll be interesting if they do Outlast, and Whistleblower
This have a mega drive port?
Matt what's your problem with maximum carnage?I beat in a arcade cabinet.
Pressure sensitive buttons sounds like it would be awkward to play
Are you guys going to play the X-Men arcade game where Magneto uses bad grammer?
Maximum Carnage was this game's prequel
venom and carnage... oh boy :p
OK now I know for sure you guys won't LP Arkham Origins. Thanks for crushing my dreams!
12:59 Agent Venom
omg Elliot did a cute sneeze
I always loved the symbiote concept. Also, will Spider-Man 64 be played?
Probably. Though they would most likely play the PS1 version.
+TheMamaluigi300 right, that's what I meant. The 64 name is what came to mind first.
