This is awesome. The tempo is a bit deliberate at times, but the richness of the sound makes up for that. Every part is accounted for, even the contrabass clarinet and contrabassoon, and because of the excellent recording, one can actually HEAR every part. All the pitched percussion; the walking string bass part in the middle section (very important!). Finally, the band is huge, probably because it's a student ensemble that has to accommodate as many players as possible. In my opinion, really big concert bands sound best. Part density, especially among the woodwinds, is needed to approach the type of full, blended sound an orchestra with strings can produce. I was gratified to see so many saxophones (that's my section). Doubling up on alto parts is fairly common, but three tenors and two baritones? Bravo!
Ending was written by Reed to be played as "Bells Up" for French Horns. A missed opportunity here. Best part of piece is that strong French Horn ending! Excellent job here otherwise.
As a trumpet player, it pains me to say this. The performance was damn near perfect with great balance, wonderful dynamic contrasts, and a musicality that Reed would be proud of. Then the trumpets wiped it out in the finale.
今、日本で聞けうる「ロシアのクリスマス音楽」では、トップレベルの演奏であろうと思う。
プロフェッショナルの音源であっても重箱の隅を突けばいくらでもケチは付けられる。
学生さんは勉学が本文であろうから、課外活動の時間で、バイトやその他の対外的な活動もこなし、ほかの発表曲もある中でここまで高められるのは、素晴らしい集中力であろう。
今後の活動にも期待したい。
こうしていい演奏を聴けるんだからCMくらいで文句言うのもどうかと思うわ。本来はお金を払って聴くレベル。

リードさんの作品のなかでもいちばんフルオーケストラ作品に近い作品だなと思った作品です。イングリッシュホルンの長いソロ。そして中間部。木管の大演奏部はやはりウインドオケを感じさせますが、少ない楽器だけになったパート...ロシア正教の賛美歌のテーマがモチーフなのかな。仙台の大学ウインドオケ合同でこれをクリスマスにやりましたが、ロシアの寒さを不思議に感じました。僕は全国常連の大学ウインドオケにいましたが、プレッシャーで押しつぶされそうになって（それと学問をしっかりやりたくて）楽団を退団しましたが、この曲をやったときは、僕が師事した地元オケの首席先生のお弟子さんがトップを吹いていて、指揮者さんもロシアオーケストラを意識して金管パート全員にもっともっと出して！と指示をいただけてプレッシャーなく、ほんとうに音楽と向き合えました

1989年（第16回）以来の定期演奏会での再演ですかね？
その時はドリルでしたけど。現在副部長のMさんがドラメの時ですね。
やりましたねえ～、89年の定演。ドリル。最後の曲。今の子たちは顕真館前でドリルの練習なんてしないんだろうなあ。ちなみに龍大のいわゆる青ブレってのは、89年に初めて作ったんだよ。ドラメのМさんが作ろうって言ったんだよ。86年の定演でもこの曲やったよね。86年入学のおじさんたちは在学中に二度この曲をやったわけだ。なつかしいなあーーーー。
途中でやたらとCMが入るのが・・・。 今までの龍谷大学さんの動画では無かったと思いますが。
