Mike remember there are no bad ideas just learning experiences. Yes not every idea will work but we learn more from our mistakes than we ever can from our successes
Hey Mike, when cleaning your sprayer out don’t forget to clean the filter in the gun every time you use the sprayer. All you have to do hold the top of the gun with one hand an unscrew the tube from the top of gun, if you don’t over time this can clog up and reduce the pressure, reminder righty tighty, lefty lucy. Just a reminder from a 40 year veteran painter, love your videos, Phil from Tennessee
Question, would the mineral spirits right after using it, clear any gunk from there or do you think it would still build up? (worth taking the 20 seconds to check either way and thanks for the reminder)
Have you noticed that it looks much better when you spray with the grain of the wood? Thanks to my fellow soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom on this upcoming Memorial Day...
One of the great things about using Mineral Spirits is that you can just pour the used juice back into the can, over a short period of time (over night in most cases) all particulates will settle out to the bottom of the can and when you pour out more liquid, to clean a brush, it will be clear. The waste paint particulates congeal in the bottom and form into a mass that will not mix back with the Mineral Sprits. Eventually you will run out of clear Mineral Sprits and then you just seal the can and dispose of it at your local recycle facility. Great video Mike, thumbs up.
Mike your correct , airless uses much more material (paint/stain) but the time savings is significant along with a deeper thicker coating. Over the years doing rentals each renovation / turnover is a use not use. Keep doing and enjoying what you love , don’t listen to the negativity , there’s always knuckleheads as I call them
What kind of sorcery was that table in the intro!!! Cool. Very cool. And Mike I told you so on the sprayer... Just sayen'. And those rails you put on the porch of the mini cabin being so close can help in your little grandson from falling ...And yes I know he can fall down the stairs but you can put up a child gate on that side if needed. And also again if you use a wand on the sprayer you won't get so much blow back spray in your face and yes turning down the pressure does help :):):)
Hi Mike - If you turn the pressure down - probably half - you will have less waste. If you have an extension, even 12", it will make your life a LOT easier.
Mike: Get a bag or 2 of lime to spread on the clover. With all the rotting leaves etc. in the woods the soil tends to acetic. Powdered is fast acting and granulated is slower. Do it now and in the fall. Best if you are going to get some rain after. Deer love a good clover stand.
Love your channel your wood shed as turned out fantastic we love the colour...can't wait to see your next project..you have got a great family from Wolverhampton England 👍👍
I like the cleanup looked like a how to me . I will probably get the roller attachment. The way you showed the cleanup was good. Thanks, Ed White Callahan , Florida I have a BX25DLB Kubota that's how I started watching your chanel.
Mike you do a great job of building the stuff that we have seen. It all looks sturdy plumb and square for sure. And everyone has opinions. We heard your ideas for the railing balusters being so close. To me you built this great little raised mini cabin in the woods. What a great place to go to get away from things. Peace and quiet. To block the view of the wildlife so in case someone moves around? That’s the whole idea of being in the woods to be still and quiet. If there are people there and your having a good time making noise and stuff, you’re not going to see anything anyways. It’s like putting a wall up so you can see it. The video of you driving up to it looked like a solid wall. Again just my opinion and it’s your building. You can do what makes you and your family happy. Keep up the good work. God bless America. Thanks to all veterans for their service on this Memorial Day weekend.
I've looked at those sprayers for about three years, no projects to justify buying one . Maybe in the very near future. Thanks I always get something from your videos.
Hey Mike don't forget to clean the gun filter (its in the handle of the spray gun) ps the spray tip head can rotate so you don't need to rotate your wrist when spraying horizontal.
Reference the comments about the "Mini Cabin". As I understand it the Mini Cabin is yours and you can build it the way you want and don't have to explain why to anyone. Keep up the great videos
Mike, you always want to paint WITH THE GRAIN and never against it. Painting with the grain allows the wood to soak up the stain/paint a lot better and faster.
You know what Mike your ballisters are just perfect because that's the way you want it if someone else wants to do differently that's perfect too. Get it? Best wishes
Hey Buddy. Don't forget to take the handle on the sprayer apart and clean the screen inside. You may have done it but it is the worse thing to get clogged up. Enjoy your videos.
One thing that I would do, (to the woodshed) is mill a couple of boards to cap off, and cover the gap on the 4x4s on the front corners. Just to finish it off.
The clover you planted back in the woods will be tough to keep going but it can be done. I did something similar. You'll need to leaf blow it once in the fall and once in the spring. When everything comes out of dormancy in early spring you'll want to spray the plot with clethodim (grass-out). This will knock the weeds back and give the clover time to grow up and shade the soil out again. It looks super cool if you can keep it going.
Mike - Another great video. I enjoyed the trip through the 100 acre wood to the mini-cabin. I too wondered why the spacing ton the verticals was a close as it was. Thanks for the explanation. Although as others have said, it's your cabin build it the way you want it to look. Glad you like the airless sprayer. The longer you use it, the better you will get, and there were some good suggestions on an extension wand, and better protection for yourself. I can't believe how great a dog Archie is already. He really responds to commands, and loves being loved by your family. Blessings to you, Melissa, and your family. Hi to Hunter. Just a reminder tomorrow is Saturday, and a trip to BK for spicy chicken.
When Archie shows up he lights up everything what a good pup. The shed is looking very good. Thank you for sharing your video with us oh by the way I like the balusters the way they are it made sense to my why you did it. Hello Hunter. Ed
Mike fantastic. Love it. You applied the stain with the Grayco by doing sweeps at slight angles so as to edge out each board into the crevice, and then when moving onto the next edge you slightly angled it as well, and then after doing a section of several boards you went back in while they were still wet and did some sweeping overall coats to uniform the outside surface perfectly. Redoing the headers was great also. Uniformed that right up. I love watching your channel more than anything else I watch on You Tube. Yes I am going to have to create some intros our outros of me in my woodworking shop which is pretty elaborate. Lot's to say about that. Okay so one suggestion I have for you is respirators. The most popular one used in shops for oil based paints is the 3M with carbon based cartridges and prefilters. It makes an absolute seal but beards can be problematic. Ideally you want the full face mask that protects your eyes as well. Here is a link to the Amazon page that has both types. I just bought another one of these off of eBay that is a full face mask without filters for only $28 with free shipping. The 3M orig is $109 or more which is the one I have from 10 years ago. I also have a diaphragm pump that feeds it fresh air, or use the filters. The prices on these have gone way up. www.amazon.com/s?k=3m+respirators&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
That full face respirator used to be $109. Guess what. I bought one on eBay from China of all places new for only $28 including shipping. Filters were separate, and you can buy one with filters for around $40. THE TOTALLY cool thing is that I found the pre-filters on eBay, a box of ten N95;s let me repeat that N95's for only 28 dollars. That is the Covid 19 level that doctors use. I go out with confidence now. You should get one for everyone in the family. Mask shaming is not the way to go. It's not a matter of being scared, it is a matter of being prepared. Please note the P100 carbon based cartridges although they capture 99.98% they only go down to 2.5 microns in size. Covid particles when in the moist state are 3.0 microns but once the moisture evaporates they are only 1.25 microns or even smaller and the standard carbon based cartridges do not work against particles that small. This is where the N95 pre filters come in. Even those only capture 95%. As 3M states on their web site there is no perfect protection in a mask. Getting close helps though. I just insist on social distancing at all costs as a first line of defense. Anyhow just for painting, getting a full face mask that protects you eyes and breathing is great. Here is a page full of them on ebay for really cheap, but they take a few weeks to get delivered. I love the one I just bought. PS: I am not a Covid expert, please consult someone who specializes in that area. www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Face-Gas-Mask-Painting-Spraying-Respirator-Similar-for-3M-6800-Facepiece/202482228533?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
And this is really key because it is a box of what the doctors and nurses use for protection in the form of the prefilters for the above masks. www.ebay.com/itm/3M-5N11-N95-Replacement-Particulate-Filter-For-3M-Respirator-10-Box/224000415969?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
So let me explain how these masks work. The full face mask draws air in through the elaborate filter assy and that air passes over the eye area and is drawn down into the inner mask which has its own seal against your face, so it is double sealed so to speak; once in the large outside area, and again on the inside cup. The nice thing about this is there is never any humidity fogging on the eye area because it is always receiving fresh outside air. Then when you exhale into the inner cup the one way valve opens and only allows the air to exit out the bottom of the inner cup, and not back up into where the eyes are. So it is always fresh air moving through. Then with the N95 pre-filters, bingo, the best, and when you buy one through eBay you are paying the same money as buying a 3M half mask that leaves your eyes out there exposed. Droplets can get into the eyes, so why not protect them as well, and when you are spraying solvents you are protecting your most precious assets. Get one for each of the family. Don't let pride get in the way of protecting your pride. :-) Love you guys. Feel like part of the family.. well at least on this end, because I see you every day. I look forward to it. It's helping me to get through these challenging times. God bless.
These masks are the 6000 Series masks so the pre-filters listed N95's fit those. You need the cartridges with the removable outside clear plastic surround so you can freely interchange the pre filters. You may want to get some regular non-N95 pre-filters for when you are on the farm just spraying, and or using nasty chemicals. See instructions from the manufacturers for suitability. I owned a high end body shop for 20 years and was always fastidious about mask usage, and recently had a full chest X ray and everything is perfectly clear. I could go into diaphragm pumps which I have and attach to the full face mask through a Y-Leg coupler pumping fresh air in from 50 feet away for example instead of a filter if you are doing something stationary, but maybe I am talking too much already.
Mike Morgan, If you had to dial down the pressure to get the Graco to spray better, then the tip is too large. Drop down to the .015" diameter tip. Secondly, turn the orange bills 90 degrees from what you have them. The tip has the arrow that points the direction of spray. If you turn the arrow facing you the user, it aids in cleaning the gun and a clog if the tip gets blocked. You can reverse the tip, pull the trigger and allow the gun to cycle fluid through the system for a reduction in solvent and better cleaning. You'll also find that if you run a bit of MEK through the gun, it will break up some of the solids not removed from the regular flush.
Just so you know...there is a filter inside the handle of that paint sprayer that needs to be cleaned. It will get dirty and cause spray problems if not cleaned. Just thought I’d mention it, If you alway knew that I apologise. Better safe than sorry. Love your show!
Turn it down some more on pressure, still seeing over spray. Material is thin so not a lot of pressure needed. The other thing is it's a lot harder to spray on windy days. You could use plastic to build a wind break. But your really not worried about were the over spray goes. Archie minds pretty good for a small pup, great choice of dogs.
On third mug of coffee while watching this - need that airless sprayer used as a I.V.! That type of morning. Mike that Mini-cabin rails look good - do as you feel it should look. The wood shed sign will at the final touch on it. Wow - on the roof. Just a thought - wire screening on the opening in the rear of it. Bird nests. . . . . . Ya have a good meal and have a Night! Archie is a trip...enjoy
Thanks, Mike, for sharing your plan on your baluster spacing. When I watched you space them apart, I thought, “Yep, he’s setting it up for an outside blind.” Smart thinking!
During the pandemic me and 2-3 employees have been painting the exterior walls of my factory with my 20 year old Titan airless. Sprayed 150 gallons so far and about 15 gallons of wall to go. Hold up has been the weather: either winds are blowing 15mph or greater,or it's raining. Should finish next week.Even with latex the clean up takes an hour or two.You can get a nozzle extension for your nozzle: 2' and I've seen 6'. In most applications an extension eliminates need for a ladder.Shed is looking great!
Good morning Morgan's. It's time to enjoy another fantastic video, while drinkin' BRCC coffee with Mike N' Melissa, the daughters & Hunter, on this rainy morning.
A bright sunny new day here in North Texas, may rain this afternoon. The sprayer sounds like some exotic bird. DairyQueen, Pecan Cluster Blizzard!!! AVA!!!
Good morning from Arizona. Nice work on the shed and mini cabin. I always enjoy your quality of effort, work ethic and humility. Keep up the great work.
Good morning Mike, looks like a great investment in the Grayco Airless Sprayer. Sure looks good and clean up is a breeze 👍👍. Good to see Eva and Archie getting their exercise, he is doing so well with listening and the praises are working well. Looks like another recipe is coming up from Melissa’s channel for Steak Salad maybe ???🤞 Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Mike, staining is the icing on the cake , so to speak on the project. It makes it look fabulous/// and hopefully the graco sprayer will make that part a little more enjoyable for you. (R)
Love my airless sprayer. When I'm cleaning it I take the hose out of the paint early and start the cleaning process as i finish the last little bit and not waste stain or paint.
Hi Mike looks great ! Double check in alot of spray guns in the handle you may find a filter that will also need to be cleaned should be 2 1/2 to 3" long . Just thought I'd mention it . Hope you and the family have a great day 😀! 🇨🇦 Craig
on the ballisters for the mini cabin, ya that was my thought you could sit right there and nobody or nothing would see you. great thinking. great intro and outtros.
Hi Mike, just watch the staining video and was impressed with the sprayer. You made a comment of a facial board on the back of the wood shed. I think it would be better as it is for air movement to dry the firewood. I’d try it for a while to see if you get too much moisture in the shed before closing it up. The videos you do are my daily things to watch because of you honest and unbiased opinions. Thank you Wayne from Wisconsin.
Maybe you should think about placing some rock on the ground in the back as a runoff distributor for the roof water. Stop erosion before it happens. I am in agreement about birds nesting and watch out for wasps too.
Obviously it will not do you any good for this project, but you may want to invest in a tip extension. Not only does this give you better reach, it allows you to spray at a consistent distance from top to bottom. Once you feel really good with the process, it would be great if you could walk us through priming, using, then cleaning the Grayco sprayer.
Kinda surprised your extension cords are not on a reel. Keeps them tidy and ready to go. Smart idea with the balusters. Plus there is no way Ty can get caught between or dogs tumble.
I am a country boy from Trangie NSW and living in the city of Sydney for 60 years, you couldn't possabily know how much I enjoyed todays ride through the property, the fresh growth and spectacular colour change of the new greening of everything coming to life in preperation of the coming season, truly spectatular, another great video...I like it too...

Archie is a star. What a good little puppy.
The color of the woodshed looks great, and the metal roof looks great.

Wow, looks fantastic, you did a great job, well done Mike
OMG Love the new puppy
Love all the golden retrievers.
I just lost my golden retriever last week 5/5/21 RIP Kiba , 13 years old
Your Shed is really looking great, nice job spraying it sure is coming out nice 👍
The puppy seems to be adjusting very well.

I love my Graco sprayer. I painted 350 feet of privacy fence with Behr Hunter Green exterior stain.
That was an awesome table.
Mike, love the "riding the trail" footage. It's EXACTLY what I need to live vicariously through your channel.

Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice job, Mike.
Good idea.
Looks great Mike!
That Dave is a awesome Carpenter
That looks great!
Woodshed looks 👍
The table on the intro looks cool wonder if u can get the building plans
Just love Archie!! He sure is a lucky little guy to end up with such a loving family! 👍❤️🙏
You want to build something else to stain? How about a pool house? ;)
Thanks for commenting on the baluster spacing.
Good morning Morgan's. It's time to enjoy another fantastic video, while drinkin' BRCC coffee with Mike N' Melissa, the daughters & Hunter, on this rainy morning.
Rough night last night: it's CAF for me this AM.
Shed is looking awesome , love the drive out to the mini cabin , love the tunes as always , and a Big Hello to Hunter !!!
I really like the scenic trail you have while driving through to the mini cabin to get your ladder.🌄🍀
Sure brings the grain out, beautiful.
Mike - spraying with an airless make sure your gun is moving before you pull the trigger, much better looking job - fewer runs, less overlap, etc.
awesome as always.
Fred.
P.s. Mike love you building.
Good Morning, Woodshed looking fantastic Mike.
Good morning Morgan's and all .
It's another looks like rain day here in Iowa.. 😊👍👍💝💝🌹🌹💥🌎🍻🍵🍵
Nice table in the intro.
The shed looks beautiful Mike. Well made too. Hope you feel good about it.
The woods are really greening up. The woodshed is beautiful!
Good morning. Wow like night and day how green it is starting to look there!
Love the stain color.
Archie is going to be a terrific dog.
Your woods have been transformed "all green" 👏 👏 🇺🇸👍
Thanks for another great video. Have a happy holiday weekend.
Maybe you should think about placing some rock on the ground in the back as a runoff distributor for the roof water. Stop erosion before it happens. I am in agreement about birds nesting and watch out for wasps too.
Thanks for the ride Mike! 👍 Have a day!
time to finally finish the shed!!
Outro was cool!
After the final staining the overall look of the woodshed could pass for a very nice pergola before the roof install. Nice work Mike!
That's diffently a time saver. I do like the color y'all chose. Great job.
not baaaad cracked me up
what a difference you are getting it done right tool for the job
Obviously it will not do you any good for this project, but you may want to invest in a tip extension. Not only does this give you better reach, it allows you to spray at a consistent distance from top to bottom.
Once you feel really good with the process, it would be great if you could walk us through priming, using, then cleaning the Grayco sprayer.
Mike if you get a 20 inch extension for the spray gun you would be happy with it.
I can see a future video where you use that digger on the BX to run power from the house to this work area.
@Scen Taley #bigwire
Kinda surprised your extension cords are not on a reel. Keeps them tidy and ready to go. Smart idea with the balusters. Plus there is no way Ty can get caught between or dogs tumble.
Love that color. Looks great especially with a second coat. Sprayer does an excellent job.
Have a great day.
Don’t forget to clean the filter screen in the handle of your sprayer
