Something people have been mentioning, though also makes sense given Portugal did have relations with Japan. If they do give it a regional form, may even make mention to an explorer bring them back accidentally aboard their ships as that wasn't an uncommon thing when transporting produce that insects would catch a ride.
@EseMota It's the Iberian peninsula. The map seen in the first trailer also includes Portugal and both regions have a heavy history due to being neighbors and even were one country for 50 years. Plus the directors of the game have also shown a clear interest in Portugal: notably food and icons such as the Barcelona Rooster. GF boiling it down to one region isn't shocking tbh, but again Portugal also played a hand in the origins of Nintendo as a whole and various good dishes such as Malasadas, which were introduced a few generations ago.
@EseMota The map does include it as the map fit over the peninsula fairly well. Portugal has been present in the franchise for awhile and again, directors have made reference to famous Portuguese icons. And should be noted that Spain's northwest region is fairly dense with Portuguese overlap. Also the part covered is mostly Spain as that connects to France and the mountains that split them. Geography wise, most of the peninsula west shore line is Portugal with only the northwest being Spain, which is seen on the map.

That and many already do boil them together if they never really do much to notice a difference anyways, so it's just easier to slap them together in the same region and call it a day.
Maybe we can even have Glameow in the Dex? That would be absolutely bonkers, but one can dream, right? (Not even considering the Pokedex, just finding it outside of Pearl Version, remake included, has been extremely hard.)
@@Corridor3000 After Pearl, the next time you could get Glameow was in a post game Heylink mission. It has its special ability. Then we had to wait ORAS, when Glameow (and Purugly who's slightly more common?) was in a few Mirage places. It was the best way to get it before Legends Arceus (Or Shining Pearl I guess.). Maybe you're thinking of Purloin instead?

might have a venomoth on my team anyway i hope this shows them being good about including old reliables in the dex because chatot hasn't been in a non-remake pokedex since the second time they were in one, the gen 6 dex, which is the generation i got into pokemon and thus the generation that chatot became my favourite. plus surely spain has some parrots, right?
The most recent pokemon should include them all. The fact I can't get most pokemon in legends Arceus is stupid. It will probably be the same in this new pokemon also.
Recycling pokemon is not what I want to see or play. Just give us new pokemon. Not like 20 new ones and 80 recycled (slightly changed pokemon). Lame. Don't care about venomoth
I want Breloom in the regional Dex, he hasn’t been included since it’s debut in gen 3 and ORAS
Nor have the Nidos (not counting Johto which has all gen 1 and 2 mons). And Meowth didn't appear in a regional dex until Alola surprisingly.

Cryogonal is super exciting for me since I feel like that one was very forgotten since Gen 5
