Maradonna played in a time of slack defending. His famous "Goal of the Century" looks like child's play when compared to the amazing close control and nut-megging by Messi when he made his similar goal against Getafe. The defenders in the Maradonna videos I watch look like children compared to a defender from any premier league in Europe
His acceleration is so unreal, he has surprisingly incredible strength, amazing vision and passing capabilities not to mention an insane left foot, unbelievable player.

The problem with defending Messi is that, you simply can't. Even with 4-5 defenders on him, he can still manage to make that killer pass that cuts through the opponent's defense.
