Regarding Galaxy hops at 60 mins: We brewed a user submitted recipe and followed to a T. Also, we don't often buy hops (we have an entire freezer full of free hops) and didn't even think about the price of Galaxy. So, point about not using Galaxy as a bittering hop is HEARD. We'll be more careful about that in the future. Thanks for the feedback, y'all.
Videos are truly entertaining! I really enjoy the transparency of your brewing process. Couldn't say I would be transparent with such a large audience, I really appreciate the knowledge shared in these videos
Clawhammer bois, love your videos. I just tried this beer after conditioning in the bottle for a week only and it's absolutely delicious and moreish. I used half and half Citra and Galaxy for all my hop additions, and I also dry hopped with both Citra and Galaxy but only at 1.6g/l -------- BEST BEER YET!
Love the humor you guys have on camera, I get Tim and Eric Awesome show vibes. I watched this video before brewing my own blonde ale to get ideas. I hit that subscribe button and looking forward to checking out your other content. Thanks!
Dudes. The pandemic has taken these vids to a new level. The set up with the brew news about Kona are baller! Really like the split-screen shot with brewing process and tasting notes. Best part... the drum solo. Easily.
Just brewed this. A little light on the base malt. Should be closer to 11 lbs instead of 9... most 5 gal blonde recipes call for 11 lbs of pale 2 row. My OG landed around 1.042. Should finish light at 4.2% ABV Love the Video....and love my clawhammer system
You should do a collab with Martin Keen from The Homebrew Challenge (youtube channel.) He's using a Clawhammer System. And I think he's in North Carolina as well.
I did. While researching the ingredients I only found what they used so I decided to dry hop and the only way I could get the right numbers with sufficient amount to dry hop was to add the galaxy at 60 minutes
Hey Guys, First time posting, Long time viewing lol, wondering if any DMS was at all a problem with leaving the pot lid on during the 60 min boil? unless it was off during the boil (just noticed during the video) and how did you find the bittering qualities of using Galaxy?
Hey I heard no dry hop in the video but looking at the recipe page you don't mention dryhop but yet in the screen shot recipe it shows 2 oz citra dry hop. Did you dry hop or not? Really want to try it out
Great vids guys, especially love the latest cuts. Got a question tho - I've noticed you almost never do a whirlpool to settle the trub, does that not affect your beer at all?
Hip spider does a pretty good job of keeping it out of kettle. Also, we generally don't empty the kettle and enough settles out to keep most out of the fermenter
In the video you use 7 gallons of water, and the recipe on the website there's a beersmith screenshot showing 7 gallons as well but in the notes it says 7.5 gallons. Just curious which one you'd recommend to go off of?
Anyone have any idea of the model of the fermentation fridge they are using here? I need something that will fit my buckets in but have been having a hard time finding a mini fridge that will fit them
Just brewed 2 batches, one with Galaxy and another with Cascade as bittering hops. The Galaxy one is outstandingly tastier. I really thought that Cascade would bring way more citrus flavors.. well.. I was wrong
@@noahtaylor5855 I've been brewing the same recipe every month for about 8 months now. I ferment for 5 days at 17ºC, then 5 more days at 23ºC. Coldcrash at -1ºC for as long as necessary.
How do you pour that slowly when pressing a tapping lever so hard? I have 9 PSI at 7 degrees C in my keg and if I would press tap like you I will take a full glass of foam
Really nice touch donating a beer making system to Pro Home Cooks, now get over there and make some beer in his studio, he obviously needs some Clawhammer mojo yeasts crawling on his walls to get going
That was not even as clear as you can get (without any filters etc..). Cold crash and gelatin is what you are looking for if you want to make clear beer. You can even enhance it with irish moss during boil and clearing agent during fermentation.. you will get very clear beer.
What do you guys use to edit your videos? Love them man! I'm trying replicate this stuff in adobe premier and it's an absolute nightmare to do it all manually. Keep puttin out epic vids!
Have a clone for the same brew 90m boil at 60m 5g of galaxy at 15m 13g of citra at 5m 13g of citra and bryhop after 7days 50g. Grain 3.7kg pale ale and 700g of cara ruby(50 ebg)
Anyone who made this, did you dry hop or not? I noticed they said they didn't in the video but it calls for it in the recipe. If did both ways let me know how you liked it and what you would recommend.
A late reply but I just tried this beer after conditioning in the bottle for a week and it's absolutely delicious and moreish. I did dry hop with both Citra and Galaxy but only at 1.6g/l. I also used half and half Citra and Galaxy for all my hop additions, not just Citra as they did. Try it if you haven't already
Those hops looked rather yellow. Wonder if that's why you thought your wort smelled like socks. Glad it doesn't seem like it ended up in your beer though!
matthewkaiser310 that’s why I used the rest to dry hop the beer. When I made the clone the only info I had was the hops they used so I made it that way with the idea of dry hopping in the end
@@danegoetzinger696 I'm going to give your recipe a shot. I brewed something similar to your recipe, minus the honey malt and galaxy hops. It was a great beer, and I assume this one will be great as well.
I appreciate the newer edits in the corona-era.
1,000,000% yes.

How long did you have it in the fermenter(what kind)? Any lagering? Asking because my bottled beer barely ever tastes good to me after a week 😅
This new style of drinking and memes is working for me.
Really love these new taste as you go videos when you alternate between making beer and tasting it. Good craic anyways
Man, I've been jonesing for some videos! Thanks guys, you got me back into brewing a year and a half ago.
This is the exact channel I've been looking for. Hella informative, chill guys making beer with a sprinkling of memes. Thank you
I am a simple man, I see new recipe I hit a like
I've literally just bought all the ingredients to do a Big Wave clone and I see this video, perfect timing! Going to enjoy this one!

Awesome! I’m definitely trying this recipe!
Thanks for the info. I did not know that they did not brew their beer on Hawaii. I drank a lot of their stuff that last time I visited Hawaii...

epic video! where are you guys from! Cheers from San Diego
The recipe on the website shows a 2oz citra dry hop, but it's stated in the video that it was not dry hopped?
Yes I dry hopped it with citra and the remainder of the galaxy. They decided not to dry hop
@@danegoetzinger696 Nice. I followed the dry hop instructions and served it at a wedding. Big hit!
@@danegoetzinger696 when you say the remainder of the galaxy - how much are you talking? I'm doing 1/3 of the recipe for my first ever brew tomorrow
Nick Reed I used the remainder of the 1 oz of galaxy.
Dane Goetzinger thanks, do you have a link to the original recipe?
Wicked episode !!
saludos desde españa,
Love this video, thanks guys!
Brewed this and two other beers for my sister's wedding. The keg was dry halfway into the night, it was a big hit!
Good stuff
Haha, the little edit in the end was hilarious :D
Do you think this hop profile would work well with a mexican lager. The lime characteristics seem like a good pair.
That beer and edit was fire!
5:20 Who dry hopped it then? The recipe on the website that you meed dryhops

Do you remember the water profile for the Kona? Like 1g of calcium chloride 2g of gypsum ect ect.

Well done guys, entertaining and just the right length, cheers from Ontario Canada!
