Man I had a hunch that you could fix the cylinder head no worries but that cylinder...nope...awesome work and I really enjoy watching your channel! Question, do you ever get asked to port cylinder heads? Just curious and thanks again! :)
Hey Paul, after a cup of relaxing coffee, you change your mind, didn't you ? Go ahead buddy, I love to watch how you get it done ! ....Actually I like your style !
My 2011 350 sxf is still working like new... My guess is that these very high revving engines absolutely need the recommended oil viscosity, which is 10w60, as per the owner manual. I have tried lighter oils and the engine was not running as good at all, more noise, overheating, hard to shift and such. I use top of the line synthetic only and change it every 5 or 6 hours.
The spinning table adds so much drama! I need to build one so when my customers want to see their failed parts I can que up the dramatic music and pull off the shop towel for added effect!!
That piston must have been really moving when the failure occurred . Total destruction !! In the animated movie called CARS one of the characters says "doc has three piston cups" then TowMater says "he did what in his cup" ?!! I'm going to have to say that's pretty dirty for a Disney cartoon , but it was pretty funny .
Now that you did the cylinder head. And you have a new piston and new cylinder lower bottom liner are you showing the next video on the assembly, maybe alignment of the valve train and lobes. Maybe show us on the way the engine goes back together
Bore the old sleeve out, weld the block, bore again, install oversized sleeve, face. It can be done. If it wasn't for making youtube content, many would ask why.
hola, tengo que cambiar las guias de valvulas a una husaberg fe450 2010 (similar a una ktm 450exc), para quitar y luego colocar las guias , ¿calentaste el aluminio?, ¿alguin tips para compartir? muchas gracias.-
Why bother? Swap in a 2-stroke and be done with it. Enjoy more power and less weight. Enjoy not having to do the valves. Save money by not needing to change the oil after every ride. Enjoy less noise. There is no real downside.
the head was not bad, same for the cylinder, you could just resleeve it but now days when you can get new heads etc for motor like this then whats the point putting so much labor unless its super rare and you cant get another.
Paul, in your opinion what do you attribute the vast majority of the damage to modern 4 stroke valve train damage. I see you repairing a lot of cam bearing surfaces and cams...
Bad lubrication of the head first with too low oil pressure on the aluminium bearing, that comes from a poorly designed oil pump and circuit. Mixing ball bearings and alu bearings is not the best of engineering, unless you make a dedicated high pressure circuit for the bearing. That is from difficult to impossible to correct as it's planned obsolescence. You fix it and it will break again. Poor design of the cooling circuit, a lot of bikes have problems of over-heating because the radiators are too small and often have no ventilators. It's possible to correct. And being cheapo on the surface treatment of some pieces. The easiest to correct, as good nitruration and eventually hard chroming can be done by specialized shops. Being high output engines the profile of the cams is very aggressive on the valves. You have to change the valves as regular maintenance. Maybe also the brand being cheap on the quality of the alloys of the valves.
clever stuff.....i liked the part about having coffee.....as i was watching it occurred to me that you could have easily made this into a children's instructional video along the basic lines of a sesame street thing with appropriate animations and music and comic relief........so much of child's entertainment is brain dead nickelodeon head garbage......you could create a whole new genre of children's entertainment for the 3 to 8 year old group with low key but accurate stories about how Mom's favorite car character personality was saved after it was damaged by the evil goblin who put a spell on the crankcase front seal which required an engine teardown to fix.....the whole story could be stretched out over 13 episodes as you treat the car engine like a foreign like gulliver's travels or alice in wonderland........anyway its a new and different project using the same material for somebody who can tell a story and is handy with animation
It was Maverick Viñales who drove this motorcycle 🤣
Jajajaja
Why? Vinales was not even able to destroy the m1 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣yup!!
gp lovers only can understand this😆
Wahahahaha

Know The Mechanic or Know The Machinist . Nice work
If you can get that piston fixed and back in a running engine I’d be extremely impressed.
Are you okkay? Thats Bad imagination...
Great job man, just like my old Kawasaki, broken connecting Rod,Hit the cylinder block,crankcase..Double trouble..
Paul you are a master at work. Thanks for all your awesome videos. I give all a like 😁
I also find myself searching the trashcan for parts😆

because a cup of coffee you change your mind so u grabbed back those from the trashcan.. brilliant..!! ☕ like I did that 😅
I had a 2011 350 SX. For this reason I'm back on a 2021 150 SX. Done with 4 strokes. To many expensive parts and takes to much time to repair

That's some hefty valve salad you got there.
Where you get that die grinder set from ?? AMAZING work!!!
Lidl shop
The whole process can't be done without that cup of coffee 😂😂😂🤣 i mean the spoon..........tools
this cylinder is fixeble, if you want is perfect safe after fix
Ok, just drink a coffe for brillian skill... 😅😅
Vídeo muito bom mesmo 👌 .eu só do Brasil . Rio de janeiro
Gotta show it running!
The question is what could make that kind of blowup?
Bore the old sleeve out, weld the block, bore again, install oversized sleeve, face. It can be done. If it wasn't for making youtube content, many would ask why.
Damn dude how you get this done ? Holy you smoke IT!
Safe to say piston and valves are toast!

Racing 4 strokes. It's not IF they blow up, but WHEN, and how MUCH.
I knew the cylinder was scrap, but I had a feeling you'd try to save the head.
This Is why the 2stroke Is coming back
@@stratosphorus Word. None from the fools at Honda, and no 125s or 250s from Kawasaki or Suzuki sadly. Looking forward to the KX112 though...
I wonder how it happened!
🤔
Same here. I'm guessing timing chain failure. And it was obviously revving pretty high when it blew.
Duuuude.... why in the world would u make short videos?? We need long stuff like if were air
I don't want to repeat.
I already have a similar video.
thats what we call BIG SEND hahaha
if it was a 2 stroke, new piston and cylinder rehoning and she'd be running like brand new again
Nah bruvv if piston explodes you prolly gonna need new conrod
Hello, I have a Ktm sxf 350 cylinder head that it’s damaged, how can I contact you for help?
Have you kawasaki klx250 cylinder head repair video ?

Someone wasn't checking their valve clearances regularly !

Perfection !!!
heck yeah
Where are you located? you do any “costumer repair work”?
I do not provide this service publicly.
How hours this motor?
Mission impossible..😬
Can I send you my Dr650 head? I have new seats and valves.

OOOOOOO... that was painful to watch...
Please tell me that that thing was hit by RPG.
Bruh were can i find this type of engine. Its a DOHC egine type thing right? I heard they hella fast
All I gotta say is my Hondas never done that.
Paul, in your opinion what do you attribute the vast majority of the damage to modern 4 stroke valve train damage. I see you repairing a lot of cam bearing surfaces and cams...
In my opinion - late valves replacement.
They simply get tired and fall into the combustion chamber.

Just little bit cyanokrilate and will be like new one
The story tell nothing about the cylinder!!! Was it changed or repaired?
3:33
Was it a failed 'oil pump' gear?
I don't know
No sanks!
Wowww.
Top.
It's called buy new parts
Valve failure at high rpm?
I bet it was failure of vertex piston ...
Ouch...
