Great video! Very useful! I think, nowdays, all digital multieffects machines can handle that tones with a proper tweak and a little routing knowledge. Maybe, the only thing you can't really emulate is preamps. Triaxis, CAE, X88 and others, have his own flavour that you hardly recreate. Sorry for my bad english and keep going! That 80/90's session era was gold!
Not bad English at all, my friend! And yes, you can very much get in the ballpark with a lot the gear available nowadays. Although there's still something magical about those old racks!
I have that algorithm in my H9 but haven't played with it much yet! The Lil Wave is always my go-to for chorus and I've recently fallen in love with the Micro Pitch from SoundToys (plug-in) - partially because I can run it both in stereo and parallel in my DAW. I will experiment with the Tricera Chorus for sure but I'll be interested to see how it deals with a mono rig!
Great deep dive analysis in how to reverse engineer a guitar tone of the good old days! And besides all this a very big part is in how you play the notes on the guitar. Lately I was listening to little snipbits from Luke, while he was demonstrating a few licks and scales etc.. And it is very interesting what you can find out, when listening very closely. So it is not only the note by note thing it is in particular the little moves such great players do when they are playing. I am talking here about little sometimes very tiny noises only created by the hands of the player, what really creates that dynamic in their playing. Playing the notes without these little noises will not make you sound like them at all. Anyways, thanks for sharing, highly interesting information. Cheers DimiZ
Absolutely man! Even how a particular player holds the pick has a massive impact on the sound. There's a lot of truth in the old cliche "it's all in the hands"! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey! I can't remember the exact settings off the top of my head but the micro pitch is not dissimilar to a chorus in some ways, it's just that it doesn't modulate - more of a widening/doubling effect (it doubles the signal and then moves it microtonally out of tune... but in a nice way!)
My favourite guitar is my Tyler Classic, for sure. My favourite amp... man, that's tough! Currently my Mesa Boogie Mark IV but I may still be in the honeymoon period!

Deadly stuff again! Picking up a Hx stomp tomorrow so perfect timing for some tone building for myself! Thanks Richard..
They are great units, man - have fun!
I love these videos. Thanks
Glad to hear it- thank you!
Love your channel. Absolutely amazing playing and tone. Big fan
Thank you, Josh! I really appreciate that!
Great video! I’m really curious which one you ended up using for the intro. Do you remember and/or even care to share?
Good advice about delay levels!
Killer playing and tones! Thanks for the content!
Thanks man! Your original comment made me laugh!
@@RichardWatson ha! I didn’t know what to say, but I knew I wanted your channel to grow 😊
@@wesleyfletcher7654 I appreciate that, man!
Great video! I really enjoyed it! Thanks for making it.
Glad to hear it, Eduard! Thank you!
Very good. Why haven't you used eventide tricera chorus? It incorporates the tri-chorus with a stereo pitch detune.

This was pretty interesting. Would you please providing the Kemper settings to rebuild that sound ? I am not so familiar with that micropitch thing …

What’s your favorite guitar and amp you own? That Peavey Classic sounds amazing!!!
My favourite guitar is my Tyler Classic, for sure. My favourite amp... man, that's tough! Currently my Mesa Boogie Mark IV but I may still be in the honeymoon period!
@@RichardWatson I absolutely adore you’re playing! That Tyler classic is awesome. Do you ever offer lessons?
What are the guitar pickups on your PRS and tyler strat type guitar that you used in this video?
57/08 in the PRS - JTS5500 and Secret Humbucker in the Tyler
@@RichardWatson 58/08? JTS5500. What brand of pick ups? Sorry.
Ok i researched the pick ups. Thanks
@@iggypopbowie2073 Yeah! They are both made by those builders. The 57/08's are great if you can get hold of them - great vintage tone!
Hey Rich does you Tyler have the Wilkinson 100 or Tyler ?
Hey Chris, Gotoh 510!
Happy Birthday Steve Lukather 🎂
LOL absolutely brilliant anyways...
Haha - thank you, my friend!
