One thing I find lacking in both the Unreal and Twinmotion ecosystem is having accessible tools to abstract and transform images for diagrammatic purposes. In our firm, the discussion in early concepting almost always involves dialogues like "dumming down", or "softening", or "simple palette", or "non-literal". And no I'm not just talking about sketch filters like that in Lumion. Those are band aids. Tectonic artistry and character is incredibly important to architects who breath the fundamentals of our field. While I praise Unreal/Epic for being masters of easy fidelity, such images only have a place in a few small corners of a real architecture pipeline. I would love to see some effort put into creating some novel real-time tools for these purposes.
Twinmotion preview 2022.1 update is nice, especially the added 3d Connexion Space mouse support! A major compliant I have with the software is the way grass is handled. Specifically making a clean grass edge in Twinmotion, its very difficult. I model a lot of suburban and large scale parking lots with several grass islands surrounded by curb and sidewalk. Try efficiently making grass edges not clip through the curbs/sidewalk. Lumion has a one click solution for this and I would love to see Twinmotion implement a similar feature.
I really like Ernesto Pacheco's comment about Twinmotion being "fun to use". work in the 21st century has become soul crashing, many tasks are tedious, and feel they have no real meaning. i believe if the tools we use in the future for work, such as architect rendering software or even tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint should be fun to use, and the process of using these tools should be enjoyable. if we can do that, i think our workplace will become a much better environment.
I would be interested to know what the budgets were for the Changi Airport projects and also the Wellington project in New Zealand, and how long the projects took to complete and how many people worked on them.
for me as an Archi, REALISM is every thing 😁 Twinmotion is some thing like THE SIMs game nthing more. SO it seems to me improving UE5 features like path tracing, refract & reflective behavior on surfaces particularly caustics, translucency and Volumetric Sss are some important priorities!
Yes, let's don't waste time fiddling around with the clunky Twinmotion UI! Better refractions/translucency in UE5 will come soon hopefully. So it will be equal to V-Ray or even surpass it in the near future!
@@estate0007 yes, Twinmotion render always look "dull and dark".. it will be great UE5 real time render can achieve even more realistic quality than Vray..it will be the real game changer..
As architect you are bidding too much on realism. Realism won't help if quality of ideas lacks. From other hand if architectural idea is brilliant well even twinmotion is sufficient.
At 3:55 from where do you get the data to import the city ? Can we have more info on this. Are all the city’s available to import. Is Seattle available .. etc . I always believed that if anyone was going to make the metaverse it would be google .. since they already have a digital twin of earth .. 3D maps you can go anywhere.. the only issue is the low quality models and textures. Any thoughts ?
Waiting for Twinmotion 2030 version. As updates are provided they are adding features for improvements that's good work. The only change I would like to see is the realism of preview and after render because using quixel assets in twinmotion is like playing old games on a new pc with high configuration.
Thanks for a great video. Are UE learning something from the ease of use of the Twinmotion program? :-) Even the early access of UE5 is lacking the ease, menus and a modern UI.
For a Event Video i cant say that much. I was hoping to see and hear much more about the pipeline(s). So we can use Megascans for free in Twinmotion? Is it recommanded to use the Plugins for the CAD files export? Is light baking a thing in Twinmotion?
honestly I just wish they implemented a more architectural focused UI for unreal. Twinmotion is just too limiting at times and doesn't give me the freedom unreal does. Unfortunately I just dont have the time to master Unreal and without mastery unreal takes way too long. It would be nice to have best of both worlds were I could do a quick build using simple UI and then go under the hood and spend a bit more time on the specifics in the original Unreal 5 UI. Would be a great way to bridge the learning gap as well.
Uhhh someone has to do it. All of the data we get from google maps need to be remade google maps is the best 3D representation of the real world in 3D. It’s a twin. The problem is that the models are really low quality up close. If you import an area from google maps into blender or even u real engine.. the models don’t look good at all. So all the houses.. streets and cars have to be remade. What is the solution? The photogrammetry that google used was not good enough for content creation.. unless the camera view is from a drone point of view .. then you don’t see the bad textures and models .. any suggestion of how to recreate googles 3D models ?
Unreal is Epic but……for Archviz they really need to sort out translucency. You can’t have a glass panel that has another glass panel in front of it and it reflects a black panel. Cmon guys this is basic and up to U5 this is still unresolved. Do you want to be God or not?
Translucency is not needed for glass. Its good for foliage or flags. But for glass you need transparency/opacity and fresnel for the refraction. Go check some tutorials you will be happy in few seconds.
I am not following the HOK app. Sounds really cool but it is so impractical and overkill. You are creating a scheduling nightmare by having to scan each room every time something is removed or replaced and why can't you just take a 360 photo, why does it have to be 350 TB of 3D scan data to essentially do the equivalent of taking a 360 image of the room at different stages of construction. I guess it can be cool to fly around the building in 3D but matterport tours have allowed you to do that for a decade now. The versioning system is cool but still can be achieved using 360 photos. Tons of unnecessary complexity and cost to the owner. This is a classic example of garbage in -> Garbage out. There are going to be countless cases of contractors ripping work back down because you did not get a 3D scan. You need to develop an entire app just to track the scanning timeline...

Only light baking is good. We need real-time, of course, but make it faster to bake lightmaps instead of making it fully real-time and losing quality.
