Being an artist and designer who knows how to create brands for clients, does give me some advantages but it has also caused me some issues as well when creating for myself. One example, is that I struggle with wanting to handcraft all of my designs which can cause a bottleneck in workflow.

I’m a designer, and I can’t imagine doing this business without this skill set. Obviously, it’s not the only marker or even guarantees success, there are many other factors, but it does help immensely.

For some yes. But for others it can massively hinder their progress

Absolutely every video Shimmy puts out always motivates the crap out of me!
One thing that I've been struggling to understand is pricing when it comes to selling on Etsy. I see other sellers that are using crazy low prices and good shirts and I just don't feel like I can compete with that sometimes. I know they usually have like the baby bodysuit in the listing and that causes it to look like the prices for the shirt is low since Etsy shows the lowest pricing but some are actually just the shirt and I can't get that great of a price on Printify at all even with the subscription 😢

thank you so much! Etsy is usually a price war to the bottom, but people also have a loss leader on their listing to get more clicks to their products

One thing I have seen on POD is how strange the marketplace is... Sometimes you gotta be crazy when designing... Sometimes the most absurd idea can turn out to be what some people are looking for. For example. People make funny memes and videos, hilarious comments on UA-cam, and people like them... But little do they know, these are potential designs for tshirts or mugs... It can be text based or with graphics... You have a strange marketplace with so many people with weird tastes and preferences to design for. So start but with the right expectations!

I know I don't have to be a designer. But I don't want to deal with designers/freelancers either. That's why I prefer affiliate marketing over this business model.

you don't have to do deal with designers if you're not a designer. Many designs are premade that you can use

@shimmymorris1 I get ya. However, I'm not particularly skilled at editing designs using tools like Kittl. Also, most of the premade designs available on platforms like Etsy are non winning designs that are irrelevant. Please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. Thank you!

@ our most popular design was bought on creative fabrica. Also the “putting together” of a design isn’t so hard. It’s more knowing what a good design looks like. Once you can identify that, putting it together is just a series of steps

Hey Bro, just wanted to ask your suggestion on using a private label (neck label) on tshirts, hoodies, etc.. is it ok to have a pvt neck label as a brand building strategy? Or just focus on the design and marketing? Need your valuable inputs!
    Love from India ❤
